Wowwww, I was visiting Melbourne for about 2 weeks and my cousin took me to this spot. It was sooo delicious and flavorful. I got the butter chicken, wagyu pad see ew, and the kingfish sashimi chili coconut thai and basil. Everything was literally 10/10, so flavorful, light, and perfect balance of everything. The vibe and the restaurant in itself was super fun and clean, perfect for a girls night out and the service was spectacular!

We went on a Sunday night and sat at the bar. We had the yellow fish tuna and it was fresh and delicious. The butter curry chicken and the spicy veggie stir fry were also good. Prices are a little higher than other restaurants but it was excellent service and high quality food. They played fun 80s music. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

Great food and experience. Must reserve in advance. Get the feed me. It's about 7-8 dishes served family style for about $65-70 pp in US dollars.

Trendy and fun place with interesting take on Asian food. Some are very good, some are miss. Service was efficient and friendly. Although the music was way too loud. This is a return place. You won't get bored.

We ordered Braised Wagyu beef pad stew and Rendang beef curry. For drink we got Napoleone Pear Cider. Food quality was good. It had great ambiance. The food is pricey. Overall we were satisfied with our order as an early dinner on a Thursday night.

I have no idea what this was!

Another amazing experience at Chin Chin's great food. I would come back here any time service was fabulous and great ambience. One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne.

This is the only restaurant I was determined to dine at due to all the reviews. The larger tables were used for communal dining. We sat at a 2-top that was pretty close to our neighbors. Usually, I like to browse the menu beforehand and get an idea of what I may order. I couldn't find their menu on their website though. The best I could do was look at the one posted on Yelp over a year ago. I usually don't drink, but their cocktails sounded yummy with clever names. I had the "Thai After Time," and it was amazing! It was light and fruity, and I liked the egg white foam. We started with the miang of yellowfin tuna. I didn't know what miang was, but it meant food wrapped in leaves. The tuna sat atop two leaves. It was a small, but satisfying bite. We also had the chili salt chicken wings. They were crunchy and fell off the bone easily. As our main, we had a noodle dish- spicy pork belly stir-fry. The vermicelli noodles are different from the ones I'm used to. I liked the crunchy pork skin and rinds that was in the dish. Lastly, we had the stir fried broccolini and king brown mushroom. We needed the greens to balance everything out. Unfortunately, I didn't have room left for dessert. It was not a wallet friendly lunch, but we enjoyed our meal here. I'm glad we went kind of early, because it was packed when we left. I wish I could find a way to recreate that drink!

Great option in Melbourne that consistently impresses those visiting for the first time. The quality is always on point and their feed me options are always great value. A personal favorite is the Pad Seuw Wagyu. Those rice noodle rolls drenched in sauce are always a table favorite. We also enjoyed the cocktails and they have big velvet booths downstairs that are available for tables of six or more or for those with little ones. Note that they have a Sunday surge charge.

This was a wonderful experience. Great Asian fusion food, wo perfume wine and cocktails. Fun, funky vibe. Highly recommend. Very busy location, make a reservation.

The food is not good and overpriced. If you are looking for Asian food this is definitely not it. Multiple dishes came out cold and the portions are tiny. The service is also bad and the music is too loud. The butter chicken has no flavor and came out cold. Brussel sprouts were overly oily and small portion. Salmon was overcooked and dry. Pork ribeye was not worth it at all and cold. Green beans were literally raw. Would never come back here again. Maybe the quality has gone down this past year, as some other reviews have mentioned.

Here's what we noticed: - You'll definitely want a reservation as the place gets packed. For our party of two we were seated at the bar, which is a really long bar and appears to be the primary area where parties of two get seated. It was nice, fun to be able to watch the action behind the bar. - They had a great cocktail menu and so we ordered some unique drinks. Both were really good. - The menu is pretty broad with small plates to share and larger entrées too. We end up starting with the Korean Rice Cakes, which was probably a highlight of the meal. It was also a pretty generous size. Then they brought out the Lobster Roll, which was good, but probably a poor ordering choice for us since it really wasn't that unique...although it was very yummy. And finally, we had the Duck Bao, and it was excellent. There were so many other things we would've liked to order from the menu, but this was a lot of food for just two of us, although we saw other parties of two order so much more. But, we wanted to save room for the peanut butter parfait. It was worth the weight/wait! - Service was good. At first, it seemed like they were rushing to move us along, but then as more people came into the restaurant, it calmed down a bit. - The place has a great vibe, but it's a little bit loud as you would expect with a place like this. Bottom line: This was one of the best meals we've had so far during our trip to Australia.

The place is widely popular so I suggest making reservations if you want to give it a try. Overall, I thought the food was solid with a nice modern atmosphere, and efficient service. You start off with complimentary roasted pumpkins seeds which were a nice touch. They are highly addictive as I couldn't stop eating them! They offer a number of small plates for you to try various dishes so we ordered the shrimp cakes and selection of seafood on ice. We were here for lunch so didn't want to eat too much. The sesame crust on the shrimp cakes made for a nice crunch. The seafood on ice included a sampling of octopus, tuna sashimi, Australian abalone, etc. The seafoods were all OK. Nothing really stood out. For entree, we shared the slow cooked lamb shoulder. It's braised and cooked in what they called Yu Xiang Sauce. I have not had this type of preparation before so it was an interesting flavor. The lamb shoulder was a large portion and the meat was tender. The sauce is slightly spicy and is similar to Sichuan spices. It's really savory and probably best eaten with rice. Portion is large enough to be shared.

This is a Filipino fusion restaurant, which is a fairly uncommon entity, and we were intrigued by the menu. The restaurant is located at the southern end of Hardware Lane, across the street from the string of restaurants line the narrow alley. It's fun to walk down Hardware Lane, as long as you don't mind being waylaid by the hosts and hostesses of each restaurant trying to convince you to come in. It kind of reminds me of Belden Place in San Francisco. We didn't make a reservation, and we were concerned that we would be turned away because the place was packed to the gills. Lucky for us, there was some open space at a shared table that we were just able to squeeze into. We weren't especially hungry during this visit, so we got a small sampling of dishes, all of which were well-made and delicious. Kingfish sashimi with passionfruit and caviar - really interesting flavors here. The sashimi itself was tasty, and I thought it looked at tasted a bit like the hamachi (yellowtail) that I love. In fact, I looked it up later and found out that this is the same fish. BBQ duck with mandarin jam and thin pancakes - pretty messy to eat, and the mandarin jam made it sweeter than expected, but again this was an interesting twist on an otherwise familiar food. Lamb rump with enoki mushrooms, kampot pepper, and a burnt eggplant mash - I guess you can't be in a restaurant in Australia without finding lamb on the menu (sheep do outnumber humans here by a 3:1 ratio). I loved the lamb and the enoki, but really disliked the flavor and texture of the eggplant concoction. Other at the table also found it unappealing and kind of out of place. Short ribs lettuce wraps - boneless pieces of meat, just slightly spicy, with large leaves of lettuce. Very delicious. On the side we got an order of coconut jasmine rice and something called "kangkung", which he hadn't heard of before. It seemed like something we call hollow-heart vegetable, but apparently it's also known as water spinach. This was also pretty good. Service was prompt, and the food came out at a reasonably leisurely pace, such that we neither felt rushed nor did we wait very long between courses. The total cost for our meal (not including drinks) was just over AUD106, which seemed quite reasonable to us.

Located on the first level of an renovated office building next to also popular Mamasita, Uncle adds modern culinary creativity to some classic Vietnamese dishes combined with tree level views of the inner city. The space, unlike the St Kilda location, is an intimate single level with a series of small tables, booths, larger benches and a couple of window alcove small tables if you're lucky. The interior has a neo-industrial design with dim lighting, exposed pipes and timber and concrete beams. Lighting provided by strategically placed table spot lights and some ambient hanging wicker lamps. In contrast to many restaurants that have multiple locations, only the top favourites from Uncle's St Kilda restaurant appear on the menu. The classic lime-cured hapuka betel leaf, pigs ear banh mi and selection of pho make an appeareance, but the remainder of the menu consists of new and exciting dishes. The menu is divided into a few sections; Little Guys, Banh Mi and Bao, Pho, Big Guys, sides and desserts. Highlights include the burrata that features Uncle's experimental barrel aged fish sauce, the grilled Sher wagyu brisket that literally melts in your mouth and the set Vietnamese coffee dessert with coconut ice cream and sesame crisp. Although it's not the largest menu, choosing between the dishes can be difficult. The Uncle Knows Best tasting menu option for $59 per person features all the favourite dishes. A full bar is available with a range of cocktails, wine, beer and spirits. There is a Vietnamese sangria on offer which is made from red wine, black vermouth, cognac, citrus, herbs, lychee and lemonade. The experimental fish sauce also makes an appearance, combined with Tromba tequila in the See You Bye cocktail. Uncle breaks the trend of the mass of Asian Fusion venues in the city with a focus on a single cuisine, and does it well with a fun, entertaining but also, if needed, intimate atmosphere.
