Came here on a Friday night and it was packed but managed to get a seat by the window, away from the crowd. I think it was actually just the waiting area but they stuck a table there to accomodate extra people. Great idea! I ordered the porkchop and egg on rice ($9.50) and my friend got the combination seafood noodle soup ($11). Then we saw the table next to us had a bottle of wine so we thought, why not pop over to the supermarket and get one for ourselves. Super happy to find out that there was no corkage and the waiter promptly brought over a couple of wine glasses. They also left a bottle of cold tap water for us. To be honest my pork chop on rice wasn't the best. The chicken was seasoned pretty well, but a little dry and the rice was unevenly cooked. I tried some of my friend's noodles which, according to the menu, are handmade. I thought this dish was much better, had fresher ingredients, and the bowl was massive too! The staff were also pretty laid back and even though we were the last people in the restaurant as they were cleaning up, they didn't ask us to hurry up and leave. I had the pleasure of visiting Ramen & Dumpling house before I had to fast for 12 hours, so I wanted to make my meal count! Koornang street is extremely busy during the Friday dinner rush, so I count myself lucky to have gotten a seat at this bustling establishment, many were not as lucky. The service considering it was a full house was attentive but not annoying. Our friendly waiter was patient with us and took the effort to explain certain dishes, answer questions and make suggestions. He was quick with water top ups and didn't forget a thing which seems to be becoming a rarer quality these days. Our meals came fast, but not so fast that you feel suspicious about what's going down in that funky kitchen. We ordered classic honey chicken, vegetable noodles, s & p pork with dry garlic and vegetable boiled dumplings. Not going to hyperbole my heart out here, but that honey chicken rocked my world, it's was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside and just sweet, not sickly like you find sometimes- über impressed! The noodles we're good, packed with vegetable, lots of delicious Asian greens to make you feel like you're doing okay for yourself, plus bean shoots and capsicum a plenty. I should add we asked for this especially instead of a chicken or beef noodle- they were more than happy to accommodate our request. I've noticed a trend of late that people reviewing Chinese restaurants always say they "had the best dumplings ever!" Well, go to Ramen & Dumpling house and be proven wrong, because their Dumplings are better, they even give Aunties a run for her money, but Aunties is cheaper. I found the pork rub flavourful but overall the pork itself dry and unappealing. I'm not a big fan of pork and the best of times, but I felt this had potential to be delicious but just missed the mark a little. The entire meal cost us less than $60 but we ordered twice as much food as we needed, for generous servings, a decent atmosphere and great service, watching person after person get turned away was also a decent show. I've been here twice now and I really enjoyed the food both times. But the first time cleanliness was a bit of an issues. Not the second time. Most recently a lamb stir fry dish ginger oh yes, delicious. Dumplings were soo yummy, tofu very very yummy. I'd go back for the food. And the waitress was very friendly and nice. It's obviously popular as the place was packed and we were seated in the window. My friend and I were both really happy with our meal. There's lots of choice in Koornang rd Carnegie but not all places are packed on a Saturday night. This one was. Parking behind is easy and prices very reasonably. read more

Big strip of Asian here & just as competitive as the rest. Dumplings, tofu and more for the vegan, and your standard Asian dishes for the carnivores. Kids love the veggies spring rolls & the booked chicken & prawn dumplings. A regular haunt for us but we're just saying we need to explore some of the other haunts along this strip a bit more. "...NO TABLES LEFT.. ON A MONDAY NIGHT.. IN THE BURBS.. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT...!!!" Would have given them a 5/5, but they forgot our flask of Chinese Tea - They were so busy, I didn't want to remind them... Last Monday, we visited a truly 'authentic' eatery, RAMEN & DUMPLING HOUSE CARNEGIE with a Scoopon 'ALL YOU CAN EAT DUMPLINGS AND NOODLES' Voucher.. We arrived at 6pm - by 7pm the place was full.. and people were queuing up outside waiting for early diners to vacate their tables..!! Staff DID NOT hurry anyone off.. everyone was just left free to do their thing - to leave, when they were ready.. I ought to say this... only a very few were presenting vouchers.. most were Asian heritage Australians eating with their families - ALWAYS a great sign at an Asian cuisine eatery...!!! Well between us, and over the course of the next 2 hours [Yes, there was a time limit on the AYCE A La Carte Buffet.. but staff didn't leave us unattended.. we had plenty to eat..] we ordered the following: -1 x platter of 15 pan-fried Beef dumplings - Best we've had for a while.. Fried on 1 side only, so crisp yet still soft.. Delicious.. -1 x plate of 12 boiled Chicken & Prawn dumplings - These were full of prawn meat.. fluffy, soft, succulent.. Just Yum.. -1 x dish of 6 mini Prawn & Vegetable spring rolls - Crisp.. hot.. just loved the dipping sauce.. -1 x Spring Onion Cake - We'd never had this before.. Loved it.. like fried spring onion filled roti bread.. 1 x Shanghai Style Fried Noodle - They were very generous with the beef.. almost like a main dish, rather than a noodle dish.. 1 x Spicy Chicken Fried Noodle - Wow.. this was so 'chilli hot'.. my 18 year old thoroughly enjoyed this whole dish, himself.. it looked so good, but just a little too hot for the rest of us.. 1 x Chicken Fried Rice - We loved this.. tender pieces of chicken and the rice cooked to perfection.. 1 x Stir Fried Seasonal Vegetables - The star of the night.. generous.. well-cooked, but firm.. great variety of Asian veg.. seriously yummy, on it's own.. 1 x Chicken & Prawn Won Ton Noodle Soup - I ordered this, at the end.. to share.. to soothe the mouth and restore the palate.. Well it did all this, and more.. a light, clear, fragrant stock with vermicelli noodles and little soft white pillows filled with minced pink prawn and chicken.. Such a good way to end.. We had.. between us - 7 cans/bottles lemonade/juice at $2 per item - almost supermarket price...!!! Service - Considering they were SO BUSY, it was very adequate..!! Ambience - Simple, Genuine - A true EATERY, not a glorified chicken coop... Price - Scoopon Voucher - $55 for 4...!!! BEST THING - Menu prices are VERY VERY affordable and we have definitely found what will surely become a regular fave.. PS. They take card payment, and offer take-away..
