For a local option, Thai Thai isn't the worst you could do. I recently ventured in, having spent…read morethe entire day jonesing for something hot and spicy. The atmosphere is a bit weird - tables crammed in to a carpeted area, as if someone has created a restaurant in their front lounge room. There's a huge TV on the wall with a seemingly continuous stream of Thai holiday 'happy snaps'. It's odd, and maybe it's an indication of my attention span, but I find it distracts me from the conversation I was having with my dining companion. The service was friendly and efficient - pretty impressive given that on the night I visited one girl was handling about 10 tables on her own as well as phone and walk in take-away orders. But what about the food? The Tom Yum was excellent - sour and zingy as it ought to be. The "chive cake" entree was gluey and oily - out of a plate of about 12 cut up bits, we ate just 1. The chicken larb was...well... had the toasted rice been crunchier, and the lemon juice more abundant, I think it may have been on to a winner. However my dining companion and I weren't rolling our eyes in ecstasy when we were sampling it and I won't be ordering it again. The chicken Pad Kaprow was pretty good - an abundance of fresh veggies and decent quality chicken with a not-too-sweet sauce (my thai pet-peeve) got the thumbs up. For a local option, Thai Thai certainly has something to offer though I think the "classic" dishes are where the good times are at.

Great curry puffs and satays, Curries are good also. There are cheaper options in the area but…read morethere's nothing wrong with Thai Thai

Was able to BYO but also noted they had some good staple wines available for selection. Highly recommend, we'll be returning for sure! Was very quiet for patrons (maybe because it was midweek?) but takeaway seemed to be flowing in and out of the door.

It is seriously good, and reason enough alone to head to this Thai restaurant in Rosanna Village. The décor is calming and stylish and the second level makes this small space appear bigger then it is. The service is charming if not a little erratic and there is a limited beverage selection so BYO. Now to the main event, the food. It is consistently delicious. Have I mentioned the roti? Please don't be dissuade by my obsession with the roti, the rest of the menu is great in itself. Thai curries mingle with spicy salads and noodles. Everything on the menu is good, no great. The dishes taste as they are made from the freshest ingredients and the flavours are simple yet complex, like all good Thai food should be. Baan Thai also delivers in the local area and the quality of the food is maintained here too. Check the website and phone your order through, it is popular so on Friday and Saturday nights make sure you leave at least an hour. Baan Thai is a consistent and welcomed addition to my families birthday dinner rotation. And did I mention the roti?

This is somewhere I've always wanted to revisit. My first time here was years and years ago, and…read moresomehow just had my sights set on revisiting last night. I don't think the decor or anything has changed since that first visit, as it was stuck somewhere between the 70s-90s. With that said, the service was reasonably good. There were only a few people in the restaurant at the time we got there, yet somehow, all tables got their meals out of order. The people ordering their meals just a half minute before us, got their entree 15 minutes before ours came out, but we got our mains before them. The food was quite good. I had the curry puffs and the chicken fried rice and all of mine was tasty. My friends both said their sauces were quite salty, and apparently the cashews were soft and mushy. The other hiccup was nicely resolved though - whereby two soft drinks were definitely out of date, so the lady offered to take them back and gave them a bottle of sparkling water at no charge. It's a very nice casual meal here. I think with so many other choices in Melbourne, there's no need to rush back again, but if anyone in the area asked me where I'd suggest they eat, I'd definitely recommend it.

Great food? Tick. Authentic flavours? Tick. Comfortable setting? Tick…read more Trinitas is one of my favourite local restaurants. Having been to Thailand and sampled the food I was so pleased to find a restaurant at home that could deliver the same complexities of flavours in curries and stir-fries. The menu is split up into 3 sections: traditional, contemporary and fusion. I highly recommend having a selection from each. The Thai imperial fish ($27) from the contemporary menu is phenomenal: battered fish with spicy sauce and yoghurt cream. The beef basil ($20) and red duck curry (24) from the traditional section are both delicious, and reasonably priced for such large sizes. There's a modest wine list that's worth a glance, and the coconut rice is the perfect accompaniment to any of your choices. The service is great, and they are always eager to make your experience enjoyable. If your downstairs ask for a good seat as it can get quite cramped when busy.
