This place was a nice surprise that I stumbled upon while walking to a Coffee Time down the street. I was looking for some light breakfast, coffee, and internet for a few hours and this place delivered on all accounts. And it's much nicer that where I was heading. The drinks are priced about the same as the chain cafes, but the food is rather inexpensive for what you get. My $6 breakfast burrito was perfectly adequate for that price, though certainly nothing special. The coffee was also better than average, but not excellent. If I come to this area ever again then I will likely come here again because this is the kind of place that cafe hoppers are looking for. If this were next to the University I'd go every day, but instead it's out somewhere far away. read more

A cozy little place with fresh roasted coffee. It's narrow, so you may be bumping into people on the way to the backyard patio, but everyone is friendly and lovely and they have a wide variety of desserts and breakfast foods, wraps, etc. A great first stop in the morning to get yourself settled and fed. read more

I found that the staff are not the friendliest and the prices are a little high. Also they have a debit minimum purchase so if you don't have cash for a coffee, it's not really worth it. This place smelled so good when I walked in that I almost cried when I saw the prices of their beans. I found them to be on the high side compared with other roasters. The beans I took home were good though. read more

How is this place not 5 stars? From the moment my wife and I walked in the owners were gracious and inviting. There's an excellent selection of whole beans roasted on site and they have loads of coffee making products as well (perfect gift ideas). We didn't get a chance to sit down and eat because we were in a hurry but their food & drink menu looked fantastic as well, a must for any coffee enthusiast in the west end. read more

Went in looking for a small breakfast and coffee. Asked for a latte but the machine was broken. Got a dark coffee and ginger molasses cookie instead. Both are absolutely delicious. Cookie was soft & moist, and the coffee was very flavourful. read more

A great little spot of coffee in the Bloor West Village. I drink my coffee black so there is nothing masking the taste of quality roasted beans. The Coffee Tree delivers a first-in-class cup of coffee. The latte with hints of maple syrup put a smile on the face of my latte sipping friend. Top 5 reasons the Coffee Tree has been my favourite for years: 1. The coffee is fantastic tasting, roasted on site, super fresh, and consciously sourced. A big jar of honey and several types of sugar and toppers like cinnamon are on hand. 2. Staff are super. The couple who own the place can often be seen there and are friendly, helpful, and genuine as are other staff. There seems to be less turnover here than other places, and it's nice to recognize the person who serves you, especially when they're so darned nice. 3. There is often art by local artists hanging around the place, which is nice to gaze on while you sip. A bill board in the bathroom has posts from folks in the neighbourhood too so you can check out what's going on while doing your business. 4. The back patio is cute cute cute 5. Treats: a nice selection of tasty treats ranging from decadent to relatively healthy/ guilt-free. The food is good too, though the portions are smallish. There is a jug of water on hand to help yourself to which is nice, though often I've found it empty. Old newspapers can often be found here if you go a little later in the morning. Overall: LOVE IT! ps. oh yeah, no wi-fi. Sometimes I think it would be handy, but this place is a little more personal/ human scale than most places, and for me that's more important than wi-fi, which is everywhere. read more

The aroma of delicious coffee will hit you as soon as you open the door to this place. This is the only place I'll buy beans for my at home French press (a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for here). Their well priced and delicious Americano coffees are my Saturday morning treat. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable too. read more

I've been drinking Coffee Tree's coffee for years. Never had better. I started bringing their ground coffee it to work with me... the expression on my co-worker's faces when they had their first cup was priceless. I used to go to Starbucks and second cup, but then my friend introduced me to the Coffee tree, now go there all the time. They have not only a wall full of fresh on site roasted coffee but also many desserts and snackies to choose from. They have been around for 22 years and therefore have an outstanding reputation, so Susan - the owner, and all the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the assortment of beans. Just recently they have introduced UTZ coffee which is fair and responsible like Fairtrade. I am a huge fan and supporter of this Cafe in the west end, and highly recommend missioning out to visit. This has the best beans in Toronto - and I've tried others - Merchants, etc.. Especially if you love sourced region coffee. Yeah, no wi-fi. So this isn't the best "coffee shoppe" social experience - it's still a very good one. But it is all about the coffee quality. They sell green beans for your own roasting. This place roasts the coffee right there always fresh. Food is amazing as well. One of the best cups of coffe you will ever have in your life!!! My father is italian and whenever he visits me he complains about the coffee. This place dies it right!!! My dad said it was one of the best coffees he's ever had in his life!! Every time I visit my friends in Toronto I stop by the Coffee Tree. Luckily they now live very close by. I love that the roast right there, they know how to make a proper cappuccino (can't say that about most places). You can also get a quick bit to eat there as well. This is my first time there and I do like their coffee and I will be back next time I'm around bloor west village. I tried their regular coffee and it is strong (even with the bit of milk I put in) but I like my coffee stronger so I don't mind it. It is a cute, small coffeeshop and it is nicely decorated. I'll try some of their other products when I go in next time! read more
