Disappointed to say the least. I was told to check this place out for a good cup of iced coffee. When you walk in, it's very confusing and unorganized. The short encounter I had with the employees was horrible; both were very rude and unhelpful. I ordered a salted caramel iced coffee and it was close to nothing; the drink tasted like water. Great local coffee shop in Stone Harbor, that's very charming and has a lot of charisma! Has many breakfast options, and with their great quality coffee, Coffee Talk is a good place to go for a quick, really quick, breakfast before the beach for families or a even good place to read a book on a rainy day for couples. Their smoothie store inside Coffee Talk just opened about a week ago, and the guy who works it has the best personality and best smoothie options for just starting out (he shares part of the building with the Coffee Shop owner, the two are good friends). I was in stone harbor for the weekend and decided to grab a bagel. This places line was out the door so figured it had to be good so I proceeded to wait in the 30min line. They take my to-go order then they tell me to wait another 20 min until it will be ready. Little annoying but ohh well. I get my bagel and of course they messed up my order and added plain cream cheese instead of my requested vegetable cream cheese. Normally I wouldn't complain however after my long wait and over priced bagel with cream cheese I spoke up. They proceeded to tell me they didn't specify veg cream cheese on there written slip, so it was my mistake they misheard me. Then they proceeded to take my bagel back, open the wrapper, and scoop on chopped up vegetables and close my bagel back up. Seriously? I took one bite and threw it in the trash and walked up the street to wawa. Service manners are not good (teenagers) nor was the bagel and the cream cheese veg spread was even worse. Having met and spoken with the owner, I think I can provide some insight into some of the complaints people have about this place. I went in a couple days ago (my 2nd visit) during the afternoon. They were not busy. Three girls were behind the counter. Noone greeted me, offered to help me or so much as acknowledged my presence. Instead, one girl behind the main counter was having a discussion about one of her girlfriends with a lady in her mid-50's to early 60's who was lazily slouched back on a recliner with her legs kicked over the armrest. After perusing some of the coffee varieties, I interrupted the conversation and asked the girl which one she preferred. The lady slouching back in the recliner suddenly kicks up and says, "Let's see what you have there!" She turned out to be the owner. The owner proved to be very helpful at that point, helping me make a selection. We had a brief conversation and she proved to be very nice. I mentioned to her how Ocean City Coffee Company has several flavored coffees as well and makes them available for sale online (which I imagine makes up the bulk of their business in the off-season). The owner seemed completely un-interested in that. My family has owned restaurants and I spent several years bartending my way though school. Here are my two cents based on my two visits: 1. Very clearly, service is not a priority here. If the people working there are that blase and uninterested in being helpful WITH the owner right there (and if the owner, herself, conducts herself like a lazy drifter in her own business), then clearly they aren't being taught points-of-service. 2. There aren't very many places in Stone Harbor where people can go and sit over coffee, music, etc. at night and this place could clean-up at nighttime yet closes at 6:30 p.m.. 3. As a business owner, I am always interested in how I might make my business more successful. This lady just shrugged her shoulder when I mentioned the online business that another Shore-based coffee company does. Not even interested. All of this tells me that what this place really is, is something to keep this lady occupied during her days so she has something to do. Not a business where customer satisfaction and service are a priority. That's fine if that's what she wants it to be. The only reason she prob does any business is the dearth of local coffee shops in Stone Harbor. It's just disappointing to see when it's so easy to tell that it could be so much more. read more

The following review is for the juice bar located inside Coffee Talk: .. the quaint pink cutesy girly decor, is the only tasteful thing about this place. Their pressed juice is the absolute worst, to put it lightly; it consisted of a green mix sitting atop of an unknown colorless mixture at the bottom). This is NOT how pressed juice is supposed to look. I suspect the colorless liquid was perhaps a type of flavored water. Prior to having our juices, my boyfriend and I tried the only "shot" on the menu.. which contained vinegar. Vinegar! The barista described it as "fierce" and proceeded to say, "guys drink it like whiskey." Um, what? I don't know what that means. It tasted like some lemon and pure vinegar. I was repulsed but naturally, it was too late- I took the entire shot. It was the worst concoction I have ever had in my life. Five minutes after we left and having only HALF of our juices, the beau and I both felt sick to our stomachs for about an hour. Pepcid didn't help.. Nothing helped. Except doubling over in pain. We also purchased their acai bowl but threw it out upon coming home. I would not wish the stomach pain on my worst enemy and will never ever come back to this place again. read more

He looks up and grunts at a clearly hungover girl at a register who was half asleep. I give her my order. She immediately forgets my order and asks again. I ask her the hours. She doesn't know. She asks another hungover teenager. He doesn't know. He asks yet another employee. They eventually decide it's 7 to 9. She asks my order again - small decaf americano. This is the most popular coffee house in town. I'm not sure why, TBH. It's very crowded, confusing, slow and the staff isn't terribly friendly. CASH ONLY. There are three lines. One for coffee/breakfast sandwiches, pastries. One for oatmeal bar. One for Juice Girl, which is a separate business (that takes credit cards) that does fresh pressed juice, cleanses and smoothies. The lines intersect and create havoc. Minimal eclectic seating. Loud. The coffee is not all that great, a bit weak. Bah, this place used to be better. Closes at 6 everyday now so no more nighttime hang out & eat dessert nights. So packed during the early hours because of limited hours in general, staff seems stressed and it's rare to see a smile. Checked out cafe noir because we didn't feel like waiting in a ridiculous line for overpriced coffee. Noir was bright and open and the staff was pleasant and friendly. This is the biggest rip off on the entire 7 mile island. I got a $10 ham egg and cheese bagel. There was actually one slice of ham. Everyone else I was with also hated there bagels. Biggest mistake of the day. We ordered the almond joy cappuccino and a hot chocolate. The almond Joy basically tasted like coffee with whip cream. Absolutely none of the flavors promised in the description. My friend ordered the hot chocolate with no whip cream. Today was the last time I will ever give Coffee Talk my money again. I have ignored the sub standard bagels, weak coffee, and rude employees every time I visit town. I really wanted a good bagel today, something I can't get from Coffee Talk. After I ordered a few Coffee drinks, I asked one of the employees (not sure if it was the owner) if there was another place in town that sold bagels. They said no, they were the only ones that did. When strolling around town after purchasing my bagels, I discovered a cafe very close (across the street on 97th street at the entrance of the mall) that offers fantastic NY bagels, great coffee, and exemplary service. Coffee Talk must have known about this cafe, so I can only assume they lied to me. Once I tasted this cafés bagels, I threw out the ones I bought from Coffee Talk. This is my first Yelp review and I was hoping my first would be something more positive, but my terrible experience prompted me to write this today. Given the mixed reviews of this place you would think that the owner would have made some changes by now, but this hasn't happened yet. I won't be around to find out if it does. Hip and cute little coffeehouse with a strong, full-bodied cup of coffee. Lots of seating including funky vintage chairs and couches. There are also plenty of tables and booths. You can grab a book, play a boardgame, or check your email. The baked goods are delicious. I've seen several coffeehouses come and go in Cape May County, none of them can seem to survive. But Coffee Talk has been serving up real coffee to locals and tourists for over 10 years. They must be doing something right. read more

this is the worst coffee shop i have ever been to. the lady who took my order had a major attitude. i came to the shop with a friend and gave my order after being asked what i wanted. my friend needed a couple minutes and the lady said "you need to decide now we are closing". she rushed my friend into making her decision. Then i went to give her a credit card and she said "look at the sign cash only". the cash only sign was covered by the tips she didn't deserve. then once we got our coffee and went to put cream in it she went to the door and said "i'll lock the door behind you" and stood at the door rushing us the entire time we were putting cream and sugar in the coffee. i'm giving this coffee shop a one star review only because there wasn't a 0 star. i do not recommend this to anyone ever. dont waste your time here read more

I look forward to my visit every year. I usually order an espresso-based drink- a latte-, and they've consistently met my expectations for both the drink and the service. The staff is amazingly friendly, the whole grain croissant is the best thing ever when toasted with butter, and the acai bowl at the juice bar makes me realize healthy and unique foods can be amazingly good. And by the way, to the person Yabi who gave a two star review because they serve food with wax paper and coffee in disposable cups, which from his/her perspective has apparently has never been done before and is an environmental crime, if like to remind you that they are family businesses there.
