Five of us went to dinner there yesterday evening about 4:00. The waitress brought out our salad.... Mixed it.... And spooned it into our dishes. One of us proceeded to get some more salad from the bowl and sitting in the bowl was a lizard..... alive..... about 2 inches long!!!! Totally grossed me out..... we called over the waitress and she took the bowl away, not saying anything. I was ready to walk out at that point, but my group wanted to stay and get our beef that we ordered. I was not paying..... another person did and said it appeared that the child's hamburger was taken off the bill. I guess we should have made an issue of the lizard and we would have gotten compensation. We will never eat at Cody's again. Not so sure how clean that kitchen is......... read more

A Bit disappointed Had a group of 20 in there today. One of the servers spilled a tray with water all over one of the ladies & her cell phone and my foot. Bills came and they did not even comp her drink, seriously. She had 2 glasses of water dumped and Codys could not even afford to comp her a drink. We went to this location because my brother in law likes it. Ordered onion rings as appetizer - sucked Salad was ok but dressing was bland. It had lots of onions & carrots but not alot of lettuce. I had 1/2 rack of ribs with baked potato & the only thing that was good was the potato. The ribs were fatty and the BBQ sauce was terrible. My husband had a smoked pulled pork special. Pulled pork, briscuit & sausage. Briscuit was dry, the pulled pork was mushy - very mushy. The sausage was decent. He agreed with me about the salad being bland and not great. On 9/12/2021 my husband and I as well as two friends went to Cody's in Sumter Landing The bartender did not have a mask on and three times whipped his nose with the palm of his and and his index finger, then put his hands on my friends glasses that held the wine that we had ordered. Upon seeing this I approached the Manager and informed him of what had happened the manager went to the bartender and told him to put his mask on which he did not even have on his face, chin or neck, he had to actually find it somewhere laying around the bar. The bartender found his mask and put it on, but NEVER WASHED HIS HANDS, the Manager did replace the wine that my friend ordered with clean glasses. As soon as the manager walked away the mask then moved to below his chin. Again I witnessed this bartender wipe his nose with this palm and then index finger and touch glasses for patrons. He did not just touch his nose, he was actually wiping it from his nose to his forehead. I then went to the Manager again told him that the issue had not been resolved, the manager told me he would pull him in the back and talk to him. The bartender disappeared for a few minutes then reappeared with a mask on his face and again with in 2 seconds of walking behind the bar, the mask was at his chin. This was the most disgusting experience I have ever had at a restaurant, I took a few bits of my meal but was grossed out watching this bartender work, I boxed up my meal and brought it home for the dogs. I get that good workers are not easy to find at this time and we do not have issues wafting for tables or slow service because that is the era we live in right now, but putting you snot on glasses repeatedly is NOT acceptable and for GOD Sakes demand HAND WASHING. I debated writing this letter, as I do not want to get anyone in trouble and I did not not put this on blast by leaving a bad review, but this is something that really needs to be addressed. read more

I can't complain, despite several missteps by the bar staff. Secret here is for a quick and much less expensive meal use the bar menu. 1/4#burgers (no variations) are hand formed patties, nice bun $2.58. Sweet potato fries came out cold. I hear the house salads are a deal and are refillable sometime the same day! Milkshakes are $2.98 but watery... I'll come back for the burgers and try the salad. read more

Worst service ever in our lives. It took 20 minutes for our waitress to show and take the drink and food order. Fajitas were eventually delivered to the table lukewarm and with cold tortillas. The fajitas probably cooled off when we noticed a waiter (not ours) walking around nearby seeming to be lost. Eventually he showed up with with appeared to be the manager. I told the manager we had been there 40 minutes and still didn't have any drinks. He came right back with them a few minutes later with no acknowledgement of bad service. Our original waitress finally dropped by to ask how things were and we didn't want to waste our breathe since she hadn't been around in at least a half hour. Never an apology from anyone. For the very first time in my life I did not tip. I typically tip 20-25%. Not tonight. read more

I found myself in Leesburg and had the opportunity to go to Cody's twice. First experience: we were lucky we were early so we were seated immediately. I had the French onion soup. It was good. We got chocolate cake and carrot cake to go. The cake was spectacular. We went back again. All you can eat soup and salad. Here's the problem: If you wanted the French onion soup, you have to pay dollar extra and there were no refills. You can eat as much of the loaded baked potato soup and the beef stew (which had no beef) all you can eat. But why would you want to? Not enough waitstaff. Long periods of time waiting for anybody to bring anything. I actually cleared off the plates from our table and put them on another one at one point. We expressed our collective unhappiness with the food, and I can assure you that management tried to do everything possible to make us happy. Quite gracious of him. Next time I'm in the neighborhood I'll go back and see if it was the fluke. In the meantime I have to stick with my 2 stars read more

This is our first visit to this restaurant. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated right away. Our server Malissa who was training a new server was awesome. She was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and answered all our questions. We were offered 2 for 1 Drink specials, which we took advantage of. I ordered Crown Royal Apple and Sprite. The drinks were made properly and tasted good. My husband ordered two Bud Lights and felt they were a bit warm. The rolls were very good and the all you can eat salad was actually very good and refreshing. My husband ordered 16 oz Prime Rib, medium-well with black beans and rice. He said the Prime Rib was done perfectly with a little pink in the middle. There was not too much fat on it either. It was seasoned well and juicy. I ordered the Chunk of Steak served with grilled onions and peppers. It's only served medium-well which was perfect for me. The chunks were nicely charred and seasoned well. They were very tender almost melt in your mouth good. I ordered garlic potatoes which were very good. I could not have enjoyed this meal anymore than I did. To top it off my husband ordered a slice of chocolate cake that was four layers and delicious. We could not quite finish the slice between us. read more

I'm not much of a bread eater and in fact are gluten free right now while treating Lyme disease but if there is one thing that I will cheat for it's a Cody's yeast roll with cinnamon butter! Who doesn't like buy one get one free fajitas? A variety of smoked meats? Hella tall cakes for desserts? Not to mention that yummy house ranch dressing on the family style salad? This place was OK in terms of food and service. The salmon I got was actually awesome at the time but the entire next day I felt SUPER SICK from it (sad). Our server was all over the place but it did seem busy so I get it! The saving grace here was the LIVE ENTERTAINMENT! One guy was playing when we went who had performed with The Temptations, he was EXCELLENT. Psyched the crowd up and got everyone involved. I believe that we shouldn't be judged by our mistakes but by how we clean them up. Cody's cleans up their mistakes fantastically. Cody's in Lake Sumter Landing has been one of my favorite restaurants in The Villages for years, but since I no longer go out to restaurants I needed to order curbside delivery. The minute I got home and looked at my salmon I realized that they had forgotten the dill sauce. When I called, the gentleman I had ordered with immediately offered to make up a new order. Since I live nearby, I was back there in just a few minutes . And they just didn't give me a new piece of salmon. but also new rolls, sweet potato fries and a big salad. They realized that the fries and rolls would be cold so they just replaced it all. So Cody's is still one of my favorites and they get an A+++ from me. read more

We've eaten at Cody's before and it was okay. Today it was evident that the staff doesn't care about the food or the service. We went for lunch. Our waitress wasn't rude but she wasn't particularly friendly, either. She took our order and shortly after that, served my husband a salad. He didn't know a salad came with his fish & chips. She hadn't bothered to ask him for his choice of dressing. There were onions on the salad, and he found a large chunk of the onion core -- the part you throw away -- among the lettuce leaves. When someone came to clear the salad plate, we pointed that out. His response was "that's just the way they cut them today." Other than that, our food was good. But there are plenty of places in the area with good food, and some of the others have caring staff and a more pleasant dining experience. Next time we'll go to one of them. read more

1st of all...Look Cody's you need more than 1 guy serving all the tables on the patio! It's just too too much for 1 server!!! And most of the Snow Birds are gone by now! Geez! Note- never order the fries---so sooo blah! Despite this We still had a pleasant meal there. We had the top sirloin and the steak chunks dinners. Sirloin had a lot of gristle but still was tasty and good. The steak chunks were burned a bit as were the sliced onions side...and the the mushrooms that were promised with them were CANNED instead of freshly cooked and very few of them. Just wasted over an hour trying to get seated and served. Waited for table about 20 minutes, which is what we were told upon arriving. When seated we ordered 2 waters and an IBC root beer. Ten minutes later the waters come and server explained that she had to get root beer from the bar. By that time a table was seated across from us. That table ordered 3 waters & a glass of wine. A few minutes later server comes back with other table's drinks, including glass of wine. No root beer. Server came over to our table and said she was still waiting for root beer. It had now been about 15 minutes so I canceled the root beer & opted for water, which took about another 15 minutes to arrive. While waiting for our dinner we noticed we had no silverware nor napkins. The table across from us had no silverware despite having been served their appetizer. We all asked for silverware and napkins. The other table received their silverware, but nothing for us. We called the server over & asked about our silverware to which the server replied that at she now knows where to look for it. It took 7 minutes to receive the silverware. Still no food despite being told it was coming. By this time the restaurant was emptying out. The server came to our table at 8:25 pm and said we were the next ticket up and food should be out in 3 minutes. If not she was going to scream at them. Three minutes went by and the other table received their dinners. We waited 3 more minutes the decided enough was enough and we got up and left. We will never return. Oh yes, during our extensive wait, the root beer that had been canceled came out from someone at the bar, which I informed that person had been canceled; waitress managed to serve a friend and sit and chat for awhile (I was still waiting for the water); server was on a personal call while we were left wondering where our food was. read more

Ordered the onion ring appetizer half order it was also half off at that time. They came they were so hard you could hardly bite into them. Everyone at the table said they were too hard to eat. I ate one anyway broke me front tooth when I bit into it. The manage Pete said all he could do was take $2.99 off my $14.00 bill. He did have every one at the table fill out an accident report. The dentist said a crown was $1400.00 and a filling was $300 but won't last to long having no insurance I paid the $300. I think Cody's should pay. We went to Cody's at Sumter landing tonight. Two of us ordered rotasiere chicken. Both meals were so dry we couldn't even eat them. I'm not one to complain but would never order again. Service was ok and the two other meals were ok. Just beware of quality on the chicken. read more

Ok so here's the deal. Spent $54.00 for two meals at Cody's June 8. We went all out and had the $22.00 each prime steak. I had garlic mashed potatoes and my husband have french fries with meals. To say the steak was fatty is an understatement. I love, love steak and I don't mind a little fat. But this was making my stomach hurt. I only ate half and took the rest home to do some fat removal on the leftovers. Mashed potatoes from a box. The garlic was dried garlic. (I have bought this dried garlic in Trader Joes.) No one in the kitchen knows how to peel and crush garlic? Really nasty. My husband was doing surgery on his steak. Trying to separate the fat from what little meat was edible. You can get better steak at Golden Corral and have as much as you want. I know you are only in business to sell drinks so we will cross your steakhouse off our list. By the way, I killed a fly that was annoying us during our dinner but his sibling came around later to harass us. Meals should come with fly swatters. read more

Yesterday I went to this restaurant for dinner. I have been here many times in the past and it was very good. Not sure what happened but I sat at the bar and waited about 10min to get my first of my two for one beers. When the "warm "beer came I also ordered the chicken wings and onion rings. And I waited ...... and waited .... And.... You get it. Finally got the attention of someone behind the bar and asked for some ice. Waited and waited and waited no ice. After more than 30 min. My wings arrived... no onion rings . I told the waitress and she said "you ordered onion rings" she looked at the slip and said ok they will be right out. I also again asked again for ice . Now I realized I had no silverware which is in a napkin. Again tried to get the attention of the waitress . After a few min she did get my silverware which did have a napkin although I did ask for extra, they never came. After finishing the 5 wings the onion rings did arrive, about 10 min after the wings. At this point didn't want much of them and my second beer never arrived. Understanding that help is hard to find and businesses are running short I found it interesting that two of the wait staff could still take time to join Scooter the DJ in two dance routines . I also noted that both the manager and owner where on site. I guess I'll avoid this restaurant for a while and hope they get it together read more

Very disappointing. Been going here for a great burger since 2017 however times have changed. 3 strikes. 18 months ago (Covid) they told us it would take awhile because they only had 1 cook - appreciated the honesty so we stayed and it took over an hour & a half to get food (food was okay). Came back in October and again it took a long time to get service followed food order was incomplete ( they left off the mashed potatoes that comes with Prime Rib ) we ask the waitress to get them and she did not return for around 40 minutes only to give us the bill. Never got mash potatoes. Came back with friends from out of town Thursday (2-2). Asked for seats outside but not at table with high chairs. They told us it would be awhile and gave us a buzzer to let us know when table is ready. 2:00 restaurant was not busy. After 30 minutes waiting & seeing everyone that came in after us get seated I decided to go look and to my surprise there were 4 available tables. I shared my displeasure with the person who seats us and he apologized and said he would tell the manager. No one came back. I went back to the tables and waitress said pick a table. Shared with her our situation and she apologized. She said she had no idea why they made us wait. We ordered the food which included burgers with bacon to be cooked medium rare. They came out burnt- well done with crispy outside. Told waitress these were so over cooked we could not eat them. The bacon was undercooked - go figure. She said she would tell cook and the manager. I went ahead and paid with a tip because the other plates were fine. Never could get manager to discuss. Disastrous lunch. Will not return. read more

Our party of four arrived at Cody's at 6:30 PM Very busy as usual. We were told we would have to wait aprox. 20 minutes. We were seated in about 40 minutes (7:10). Drink order was taken by someone other than our server almost immediately. Server did not appear to take our order. We asked a table busser for help, She turned up ten minutes later with our server. We ordered our meals including salad (7:40|. Salad arrived within 10 Minutes (7:50). A manager ( Kevin) came by and we asked for more salad and where our meals were (8:20). He came in about 10 minutes with another salad and said that our orders would be out shortly. At 8:40 we finally gave up and found the manager and told him we were leaving. He couldn't have cared less. When I asked what the problem was, he said he wasn't exactly certain because this was only his second day. I asked if we stayed, would our food arrive within 1/2 hour. He said he wasn't sure. He did excuse our salad and drinks. We left at 8:50pm Terrible experience. Won't be back. My god people!! How are you going to survive? I understand that staffing is short. Close half the facility and open only enough tables to operate with highest quality. Can't rate the food if it never arrives. What a shame. read more

We've been going to Cody's for quite some time now my mother, father and myself. I guess you would call us regulars. We enjoy sitting outside by the water, listening to the music, good food and enjoying small talk with our favorite waitress Kel Kel. She always has a smile on her face and she is never too busy to talk with us. Keep up the good work Kel Kel. read more

Ok yelpers here we go again. I stopped in Cody's around 8 in the evening. I figured wings would be a good treat. We ordered 10 wings 1/2 fried and 1/2 grilled. Well they both came fried the only difference was one was breaded and one was not. But both certainly fried. Not a grill mark anywhere to be seen but all the signs of a fried wing. Not that this is a giant deal but when the bartender defends the grilled wing you really have to think about what other corners are being cut here. They also have a wine list but only seem to have the cheap garbage in stock. God forbid they even have a drinkable glass of wine available. It just seems it's very difficult to get a fair meal for a fair price in the villages. At least the peanuts are fresh and not stale. read more

Husband had steak - chewy, chewy, chewy...need I say more. Best part of meal was the rolls. The pulled beef was fatty. The sausage greasy. Potato was so small I'm not sure why they even bothered. For atmosphere and service, this place certainly deserves 4 stars. Sadly, for the food, I give them only 3. I ordered the onion ring appetizers to share with our table and for my entree, I ordered the BBQ ribs with my one side being mixed veggies. Just visiting Texas earlier this month, I know what good BBQ taste like and this didn't deliver. These ribs were not tender and were a bit on the dry side. I had to ask for extra BBQ sauce to give it more flavor. Their sauce was tasty but it wasn't anything special. The onion rings were also a miss for me. The batter didn't stay on the onion rings and fell apart on you. It wasn't fun to eat so I only had a couple and it was way more than I should've had. There were several left so that's a sign that they were easy to resist. My husband ordered their classic burger and thought it was also ok. A great place to come but expect the food to be about average and you'll be happy with your visit. read more

Ever notice how codys never responds to the crummy ratings it receives? Put it simply , they don't care. They have tons of villagers who frequent this place who have no taste buds left. Ok , I had the barbecue on a roll asked for roll to be toasted, not asking for a lot. The sandwich came out slightly warm and no toasted roll. I figure it might have been hot but waiter was slow to bring out order. He was almost like doing us a favor by taking our order. Someone needs to straighten out things. The Village Restaurants just do not care what they serve - 1st order the special Pork chops - came out like rubber you couldn't eat them - called the waitress very friendly then ordered the pot roast which was the other special - NOW OPEN A CAN OF DIN TY MORES BEEF STEW AND YOU HAVE THE SAME. At this point ask to speak to the Manager Sandy - she never even apologized for the rotten food only response was should I adjust the bill. I was not looking for an adjustment - but, considering her response I can see I am not the only one complaining about this place. I do not think I will go back. read more

Such as shame because it's a fun atmosphere and great setting. Salad fab - but that's it. Chef forgot about the crab legs at some point this afternoon. They were so over cooked that it truly was a fight too eat them. And so not worth it in the end. Service was polite but almost non existent - for us anyway. We ended up asking other servers for help more often than not. Spoke to manager in the end because apparently our meals were meant to come with a dessert as well - which we were never offered. The manager didnt seem bothered at all about our experience - or the loss of any future business apparently. Sad really. read more

We love the atmosphere here and friendly staff. Their loaded potato soup is delicious. Also enjoy their coconut shrimp. My husband likes their chicken fried chicken with gravy on both the meat and mashed potatoes. They also have live music in the evenings. read more

Good food! Atmosphere resembles Roadhouse with the peanut shells on the floor. Had the "Double Me" burger. VERY filling? Cooked just right. Fries could use some more seasoning but, cooked just right. Waitress Alex talked a bit fast but, she was quite friendly. Nice lake side view. read more
