The repairman, Robert, was wonderful so no reflection on him. But be careful when using Cody's as the fee was VERY $$$$. Robert replaced a $35 part and was here for literally 15 minutes (I clocked him in) and they charged $177!!! After I complained they reduced the price to $166 (sarcastic whoopeee). Even though I had sent a photograph showing what part they needed to bring, they came unprepared and had to go get the part -- causing another trip and higher fees. I agree with Max R. BE CAREFUL....it does feel like a bait and switch. I will NEVER use them again. Unfortunate, as they were recommended by a friend...and I will let the friend know of my dissatisfaction (and anyone else who comes my way). My doctor and dentist charge tons less! read more

I called Cody's Appliance to fix an ice maker in a KENMORE refrigerator. A nice young man came to the door and examined the problem. Seems that the laser switch to turn on and off the ice maker was broken. He looked it up on the internet and said the parts would cost 197./50 and whole job would be 425.00. We decided that we would buy a new fridge instead. My son came by and checked the internet also and bought the parts for 33.00 dollars. Parts came in three days. Old parts snapped out and new ones snapped in. We had to undo 6 screws and it was done. Do you feel that 425.00 was a fair price ? I don't and,I hope you don't either. read more

The service tech was nice. He came to see why the gas fireplace on my recently purchased home wasn't going on. It was a simple adjustment. But the home hadn't been cleaned when I bought it. He had already charged the service call so I let him clean the fireplace. $140. TOTAL. I feel that was a heavy charge for Windex and a cloth. I cannot afford this business. Our daughter's refrigerator started to leak on the hardware floor on the weekend, of course! I was housesitting, so after reading reviews of Cody's Appliance Repair, I called them early Monday morning. They got their repairman, Shane, out to the house by 9:00. He assessed the situation and was able to replace a part that would eliminate further drainage problems. He thawed the ice that was continuing to leak on the floor and helped us to understand what had happened. What wonderful service. The cable on the door of my dishwasher snapped and the door would just fall down. Cody's came out the same day and the two technicians couldn't have been nicer. They fixed the dishwasher and before they left asked if there was anything else they could do. I showed them a drip in between the two panes of glass on my oven. They said no problem, took the door apart and cleaned the glass for me at no charge. This is the second time that I have used Cody's and both experiences were amazing. read more

Called Cody's to repair or fix our freestanding gas fireplace. I explained to them the main burner would not stay on. The burner and pilot would go off after about 20 to 30 sec. after main burner was turned on. Pilot would stay on until main burner was turned on. Repairman show up on time looked the fireplace over and tried the main burner and same thing happened. I ask the repairman if it might be the thermal couple and was told no because the pilot stayed on. After checking with a co-worker on the phone he said it was an air flow problem. They said I needed to call a chimney sweep to have my gas fire place chimney cleaned to get better air flow. I paid the $89 service fee and the repairman left. I called another fireplace repair shop and explained what was happening and they told me over the phone they thought it was the thermal pile. They came out and put a meter on the fire place and it was the thermal pile. They replaced it and the fire place is working great. I guess I just learned a $89 lesson, call an expert in the subject you want fixed, that way you only have to pay once. After reading my review, Cody's contacted me and said they didn't realize my problem had not been fixed and they refunded my $89 dollars. Vern P. read more

I called R.C. Wiley with a problem about a stove we had bought there the year before. It was still under warranty and they gave us the name of a couple of services that could repair it. I called the first one on the list, Cody's Appliance Repair, and was really pleased at the service I got. First of all, the repairman came very quickly, within about a half hour. He was very friendly and got right to the task at hand. Ten minutes later he was finished. And in addition to fixing the stove, he also volunteered to check our dryer vent and checked our refrigerator cooling unit. He gave me good feedback on the stove problem and told me that our refrigerator unit needed to be cleaned. He was polite, professional, and was in and out in maybe 20 minutes. Such good service is rare, and I told them so in an email I got from Cody's later that day, asking them to rate the service. I gave it a 5 star rating, and they promptly emailed me again to thank me for the review and to give me a gift card at a local (not a chain) coffee shop. The technician was nice and appears the job was properly done. So, if you don't mind paying $180 for one hour labor, then by all means give this business a call. This was totally my mistake. I read other reviews that their rates are "reasonable" and failed to do my "due diligence." They charged me just under $200 to replace a belt on my dryer. The receipt did not break down labor from parts. I went on line and found the part for $15, which means they charged over $180 for the one hour service call. I called just to make sure some mistake was not made. I was told they do not charge by the hour but by the "Blue Book" job. I called "Home Appliance Service" (208-376-0031) and was told the same job would be about $90 (even Sears was $129). So, this is my fault. I should have done my homework and because I didn't I got hit for over $110 more that I should have paid. Again, I am not accusing Cody's of doing anything wrong, I trusted other posts and paid for it. So, if you think this is "reasonable" then by all means, give "Cody's" a call. read more

The repairman came in and said that my washer does not need maintenance, rather I need to make some major construction upgrades to the floor in my laundry room so the washer doesn't shake and make tremendous noise. Nothing was torn down on the machine and he didn't even pull it out so I could clean the floor beneath the washer as mentioned early on in the appointment. Had a repair scheduled today from 2-5pm. Was told that the"arrival agreement" was from 2-5pm, not the scheduled time to work on my appliances. Sat at home to wait for the repair man, who didn't come. Called the office and spoke to a woman (I believe the owner) who wanted to argue that the agreement was for an ARRIVAL by 5:00pm. So, if the repair man arrives at 4:59pm that is considered ON TIME. Is the vague 3 hour window of time to receive mediocre service, then to get yelled at by the company representative that answers the phone standard business for appliance repair? Man I hope not. DO NOT call this company. You will waste 3 valuable hours of your life only to then get yelled at by their owner. #epicfail read more

We were put in touch with Cody's through our home warranty company to fix a broken dishwasher. While I have no issue with the service, after Cody and the service tech left I noticed a 'Cody's' advertising sticker stuck on the inside of my refrigerator.
