We moved forward with the fix, and it worked fine, and then it didn't. After a few more visits, and some more parts and tinkering, it finally started working properly. Although it was a strange and difficult situation, they stuck to it until the problem was resolved. The techs Danny and Mark went above and beyond to make sure everything was good. Another thing to add, the way the company communicated back and forth with me was great. They answered every call and every text. Most of the time I spoke with Stacey and she was great. If you're looking for an honest and professional company, this is it.

Subsequent to this service, she has reported that the air conditioning is not effectively cooling the premises, with only the fan operating. I advised her to adjust the thermostat to a lower setting. Given her advanced age of 90, her discomfort with the warm air became increasingly pronounced. Today, in collaboration with my brother-in-law, we investigated the issue. We observed that while the unit appeared to be functioning, it was not producing cool air, despite the outdoor fan operating correctly. During our investigation, we contacted the service provider, Thomson. A representative stated that only the thermostat had been replaced and that a service technician could be dispatched for a fee of $159, suggesting a potential wiring issue. Upon reviewing the Honeywell thermostat instructions and wiring diagram, we identified that the thermostat had been incorrectly wired to the "W" terminal. After rectifying this wiring error, the air conditioning unit resumed normal operation, producing cool air. I subsequently contacted Thomson for clarification regarding the initial service. Their response repeatedly referenced a previous replacement 14 months prior. While their online reviews are predominantly five-star, our experience suggests a lack of professionalism. This incident raises concerns about the necessity of recommended services and the quality of workmanship, potentially indicating errors or intentional oversights during the initial installation.

PUNCTUALITY 7. THOROUGH EVALUATION We met with the following specialists: SEAN O'HARA (AC repair) - AC stopped emitting cool air. Fixed issue w/ filter repair. ALFRED BIRNHAUPL (AC leak repair) - Fixed pipe leak from AC and completed comprehensive assessment of our dysfunctional zoning system. DOMENICK ALONGE (project manager) - Reviewed findings from Alfred, provided detailed indication of issues and resolution options with several quotes. Here's why our experience has been superior to previous companies: All three specialists were not only punctual, friendly, and courteous, but they took their time to evaluate our issues in CLEAR layman terms corroborated by photos, and showing us exactly where the problems were in person. We previously obtained a quote from a large corporate company and was left feeling dumbfounded and stressed as they described the nature of our problem in engineering, technical jargon that made absolutely no sense, including astronomical quotes without explanation of the work entailed. We continued experiencing intermittent issues with our AC and heater so we called Friends & Family based on their excellent reviews. This time around, with Friends & Family, we left feeling knowledgeable and reassured, with reasonable quotes including various discount eligibility. We didn't feel pressured by them to choose one route vs. the other; rather, gained the information we needed to make an informed decision that would prevent such issues in the future. Overall, their attention to detail, ability to explain the issues and resolution routes in simple, concrete terms, were far superior than the preceding company. They exceeded our expectations and we much appreciated their patience and openness to answering all our questions. I also want to mention that I was gardening when SEAN was fixing our AC. He saw me struggling to dig a hole for my plant and volitionally offered to help me. He took the extra time to dig the hole for me, exemplifying his genuine kindness and generosity! Similarly, my kids were running amuck and screaming and shouting while I attempted to maintain a conversation with ALFRED. He was very understanding and continued to engage in conversation, appearing unbothered by the chaos with a pleasant disposition. Lastly, DOMENICK was appointed on the day of our son's birthday. He related to us interpersonally and even helped assemble my son's new Radio Flyer bike! I told him that Sean also helped me garden and we laughed about how Friends & Family is a "one-stop shop." Given everything I mentioned, we're excited to have our overdue AC/heater system fully repaired by Friends & Family. Edit: I also wanted to mention the process to schedule a time/day for someone to come out was seamless. Customer service was friendly, easy going, but also I received texts/info with Rigoberto's picture during arrival as well. All of this gave me so much reassurance that this company not only cares about your happiness but also your safety which is crucial in this day and age when someone comes to your home. Rigoberto wore booties too and it is always so nice when contractors respect your home.

They did a great job removing the existing units, cleaning up after themselves and communicating with us throughout the process. We had some issues with the condensate line draining after the new install but they were very responsive in trying to get everything working with their busy schedules. Their prices are super competitive and this was what made us go with their service in the first place. I immediately reached out to Johnny and he sent a tech over to our house same day. The original diagnosis/quote was to repair our condenser leak which was still under warranty, however after more discussion about our home's uneven cooling (always warmer upstairs than downstairs) and overall discomfort that we've lived with for many years, we decided to take the plunge and do a full redesign project: brand new condenser (much quieter and more efficient), relocate the furnace/blower to the attic and all new ducting. They got to work the day after I signed the contract and less than a week later, we have our AC back and the upstairs is feeling great! Big thanks to the great guys at Rebel, and big shout out to Vincent who was our main installer.

Definitely not substandard quality. Definitely not "Mickey Mouse" work. *2019 - I had new air conditioner ducts installed, because the old one had asbestos. Although I was informed that as long as you do not touch the asbestos, it was "safe", I decided to replace the ducts. *July 10, 2020 - GC HEATING & COOLING installed a new AC system *Jan. 19, 2021 - GC HEATING & COOLING adjusted the offset pressure at gas valve because it was not working. *Feb. 12, 2021 - GC HEATING & COOLING had to replace the inducer motor. *August 9, 2024 - I posted a bad review of GC Heating & Cooling on YELP. The owner, GUSTAVO CANO, reached out to me, and we discussed my issue. He convinced me, that the reason I was having problems with my unit, was because I did not agree to allow him to replace the ducts. He said the solution to my complaint, was for him to replace the ducts. *August 15, 2024 - GC HEATING & COOLING replaced my ducts, and I paid them $5,200.00. I took down the bad review on YELP. *September 17, 2025 - I called Gustavo Cano about issues, and he was visibly upset, and combative. He said he was coming, but that he would charge me if my complaints were unfounded. He never showed. My issues are the following: 1. The strap of the duct fell off. 2. SEALP Plenum duct sealing - NOT FULL SYSTEM 3. Type of Ducting/Condition : MYLAR not sealed. My AC system was installed July 10, 2020, six (6) years ago. Now, apparently, it has a leak. My old YORK air conditioner was twenty (20) years old when I had it replaced. It never broke down. I religiously have my unit cleaned, and turned up yearly by professionals. Kirk was FANTASTIC! Our unit is 20 years old, we have never really had regular maintenance on it. He showed up super early (they asked if that was okay, and YES thank you). Before he arrived they sent a text with his name and photo. I absolutely love this! That extra safety is so important. Kirk looked at our unit and asked some questions. He explained all they do with the "family plan" so we signed up. I am one of those that needs to be reminded of scheduled upkeep so this is perfect. He gave us the estimate before he started and I asked for a very rough estimate of a new unit (having no idea) so we decided to go with repair and hope for the best. The repair wasn't cheap but considering all the work that needed to be done as well as it being an older unit, I feel it was a very fair price. I think we did have the best with Kirk. He was able to repair our unit and give it some much needed TLC for our AC unit and furnace. He even installed our pre-purchased thermostat! Kirk was polite and considerate. He took time to answer all of our questions and ensured us that we could reach out with any questions, I believe him. Service people can often be rushed, there is a lot of work out there, but not Kirk. He didn't waste time either, I felt like he was in and out in no time at all. By the time he left we understood all that was done and what we need to do to get some additional service from our current unit. I could not be happier with the call I made this morning. I picked the right people to call!

    Received a mailer of a "pre-paid" heating/furnace tune up & a water heater sediment flush…read more My heater recently went out so I called them out. They sent another company, I didn't get any "pre-paid" service but was quoted $3,300+ to fix it. I was graciously offered a short term fix for $1,000+ and charged $89.00 for coming out. Bait & switch, I'll get my heater fixed by another company.
