My boyfriend and I decided to come here for their Dine La menu. I was so excited to try this place because their pictures and (most) reviews seemed promising. Let me first start off with the food (since that's what most of you are interested in) and then I'll get into why I rated only 3 stars. Here's what we ordered: Course 1: (pictures available) - snow crab salad: 5.5/10 - fresh oysters :6/10 The first course was nothing special. It tasted exactly how I thought it was taste. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Course 2: (pictures available) - pan seared shrimp & chives dumplings : 7/10 - grilled octopus: 7.5/10 The second course was actually good. I love the flavor of chives so the dumplings were better than I expected. I couldn't give it more than a 7 because it was slightly cold. The grilled Octopus was very tender and flavorful. It was kind of interesting to see a layer of beans under the octopus but somehow it worked and it tasted great. Course 3: (pictures available) -Uni truffle oil pasta: 8.5/10 -Grilled Chilean sea bass in miso sauce: 9/10 The main courses were really good. The uni pasta was full of flavor and the noodles were cooked just the way I like. I would recommend this to anyone who likes uni and super creamy pasta. The sea bass in my opinion was the best. Had some delicious food here tonight! Probably one of the best meals I've had in a while. We had: - Lychee Martini with tequila: small but strong and yummy - Baked Salmon Roll: delicious if you're looking for a cooked roll. - White Dragon Roll: I liked this one better than the salmon roll. The yellowtail was so fresh and paired well with the avocado. - Orange Shrimp w/ side of jasmine rice: Orange chicken is usually my go-to, but decided to try this shrimp version instead. We ended up here solely by accident. They did not disappoint & in fact, exceeded our expectations. It happened to be dine LA & when I saw scallops were an entree option, I told my husband to go that route. We had: Brussel sprouts- pan flash fried exactly how I like them. Crispy but not quite burnt. Oily deliciousness. The Octopus appetizer was firm, a small piece but as outstanding as the scallops. The flavors were incredible with no fishy saltiness present. A new favorite octopus dish of ours in the city. The crab salad was mild and crisp. The romaine was nicely chopped into bite sized pieces which I really appreciate. The avocado was for sure hass - the best. Firm & meaty. The dressing was mayonnaise based and paired well with the crab. It also wasn't over applied. I enjoyed it. The crab portion was a sprinkled style but still a good amount. The Scallops were no exaggeration, the best scallops I've ever had. They were so soft & just melted in your mouth. The buttery flavoring was divine. There were only 3 medium sized scallops but they were so rich it was absolutely perfect. My husband raved about his lava cake. It was a mildly bitter dark chocolate which I appreciated as it wasn't overly sweet. It was perfectly cooked with the gooey center. They have happy hour daily from 5:30-7 & my husband is already discussing returning. We sat at the bar which is small but adequate. The bartender took great care of us & all of our dishes came out very quickly. I overheard they were booked to capacity so I think we were fortunate being able to get in without a resi. There's also 1 high top & a communal table for 6 in the bar area. Excellent seafood spot. Check it out! Found this place on DineLA and went with my GF and our friend. 3 excellentè courses. The seafood tower has an oyster, king crab legs, and Shrimp. The sea bass was excellent. I like sea bass but their sea bass made me rethink sea bass and inspired me. Uni pasta was delicious, sauce wasn't as thick as I am used too but it was packed with flavor. Scallops tasty but the bass was better. Lava cake was decadent and a perfect lvl of sweet. The matcha creme brûlée has a subtle matcha flavor at first bite then continues to develop. Stepping in, the decor was similar to EMC's...spacious and open with some seafood lying around near the counter. We opted for the GRILLED OCTOPUS and HOKKAIDO SCALLOP CARPACCIO for starters. Hands down that octopus had me sold upon first bite. The mini diced peppers were so flavorful along with everything else on that plate. Get this!!! Carpaccio was fresh like any other place. My husband and I celebrated our six-month wedding anniversary at COD. We made reservations through Yelp, but there were plenty of tables available. We were seated immediately but had to wait awhile to be greeted by our server, which is why they lost a star for me - the service was poor and inattentive. Some of the dishes were great. Others were just meh. I'd definitely recommend the sliders! My husband loved his ahi poke dish, but felt like it was lacking substance. My dish on the other hand, was bland. I should've known to be weary of ordering the seafood shrimp when the table next to ours left with a large serving of the dish still left in their bowl. Oh well! We arrived early enough that we made it to their HH which made this dinela even more better. SERVICE: Excellent from start to finish. Once arrived we were greeted and immediately seated. FOOD: HH OYSTERS: These were very fresh and sweet. ($1.50 each) Chilled Crab Cake: Delicious and generous with the crab. What made it better it was sitting on top of avocado. Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice: This was a our less favorite. Didn't care so much for it. Hokkaido Scallop Carpaccio: Excellent. The scallops were fresh and sweet. Just wish they didn't over do it with the ponzu. Other than that still delicious. Grilled Octopus: Excellent as well. Perfectly grilled octopus and super tender. Parking in this area can be a nightmare. A lot of the streets are permit only area. I had a reservation at 8, but was running late due to parking issues. Finally got there and waited at the host stand for about 5-10 minutes till someone acknowledged me. I was finally sat down by a server and a few minutes later my friend walks in. Some more time passes by and finally our server comes to greet us. The food takes a while to come out. We split the uni pasta ($33), the tuna, calamari. Everything tasted good. We didn't realize the tuna had some cilantro in it so my friend had to pick it out since she's allergic. All good. We decided to order dessert and look at the menu. Our server says they only have two. What a bummer. We try the purple yam dessert as we were anticipating something unique. We are both of Filipino cultures. Instead we received 4 cuts of yam with sugar, berries, and whipped cream. We could have made this at home ourselves. We were there for a while and no one rushed us which was nice, but I did notice that a lot of the tables still had all their empty plates on it. I so wanted COD to be excellent, but to be very honest, it was just mreh. If you read my reviews, you know I care for the ambiance and the vibe of a place just as much as the food, and unfortunately, COD falls short on both counts. If there's one thing you need to try at COD, I highly recommend the truffle uni pasta. Omg! This item is a MUST have item. It's pricey at $33 but it's totally worth it! It was very delicious with lots of flavors. Pasta was cooked al dente. Sauce was very creamy. Uni was soft and blended easily with the sauce. Serving could be shared by two but since I really enjoyed it, I was able to finish the entire dish my myself. It was that good! Not only did I finished the pasta, I still ordered a bread toast so I merrily dipped it on the remaining sauce. Trust me, you won't leave this place until you licked the bottom of that bowl. The uni pasta was not awful, but I like the E.M.C. uni pasta much better. It might have been the noodles COD uses that I didn't like. Crispy pork belly was very good. A must order if it's your first time. Seafood fried rice was underwhelming. You can find better rice elsewhere. I think overall, I was very underwhelmed. I would not go back there again. The service was okay, but not exceptional. We were disappointed because upon arrival we asked if we could sit at a booth and they said they had to check...the rest of our party arrived and we asked again if we could sit at a booth and they said that specific booth was "tied" to a reservation already. We 1) had a reservation. Didn't know you could ask for specific booths 2) the whole time we were there NO ONE sat in it. We easily could have sat there, eat our food - not rushed and leave in time for their next party. Also, the day we went, their bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke. It wasn't well-ventilated. COD is located right on the border of LA and Beverly Hills, it's within a close walking proximity to the infamous Beverly Hills center mall, many foot traffic in this area, therefore this place is always busy, Location, location, location! The high ceiling and details on the decors and light fixtures are very modern and attractive. Terrific DineLA dinner deal (surprised to see the negative review specifically re: DineLA). Here's my experience: you get a ton of great food over a four course meal for only $39. Courses include your choice of two generous appetizers, a main, and dessert, and I opted for the following: Course 1: Chilled Crab Cake--despite the "chilled" adjective, I was still expecting a more traditional crab cake. Instead, this was more like a tuna tartare tower, but with crab instead of tuna, and was stacked on top of guacamole. Really really good, and highly recommend. Generous portion of crab and the flavor was great. Course 2: Grilled Octopus--was a little hesitant to order this at first, because I'm picky about my octopus and it being the right texture. COD grilled this perfectly, it had a good bite to it, with zero rubbery texture, and was incredibly savory and flavorful. It was served in a broth-like sauce with kidney beans. Again, good portion for an appetizer. Course 3: Chateau Filet Mignon--cooked well and a generous portion. Wasn't necessarily a steak I'll be dreaming about but it was very good and enjoyed it. It was served with crispy, grilled broccolini that was flavorful and delish and a good complement to the steak. Course 4: Green Tea Creme Brulee--not the best creme brulee I've ever had, but it was still yummy, and a nice sweet item to end the meal on. It's a little "flatter" than typical creme brulee, meaning that the layer of custard filling is on the lesser side. Green Tea flavor was very subtle, I would've liked it to be more prominent. Wouldn't go out of my way to order this. My friend coincidentally selected something different for every course, and thoroughly enjoyed all her food as well. If you like uni you should go for the Truffle Uni Pasta. One of their signature items, and what a lot of people specifically come here for. My friend opted for that, and really enjoyed the dish. Because when I asked she said yes but when the food arrived there wasn't any. I asked the food runner he said they don't have it which was a bummer. The standouts were the crispy calamari (aioli it comes with is delicious) and the crab salad (though the crabmeat was quite dry). Wings were just okay but the uni pasta was amazing as always! This was probably the most disappointing DineLA meal that I've ever had. Had reservations for 6:30 on Wednesday & was seated promptly but then it just went downhill from there. There is no longer a happy hour even though the happy hour special is still on their Instagram page highlight section. That should be taken down if happy hour is no longer offered. Disappointing because we wanted to do a mix of DineLA + happy hr. We ended up both doing DineLA & realized when the bill came what a SCAM it was. The bill itemized the courses instead of lumping it all together for the $55 DineLA price. That was when I realized they were charging $32 for the uni truffle pasta when it's only $29.5 on the regular menu. When it's listed out like that, it just feels like I got scammed. Another problematic issue is the $15 appetizer "seafood tower & oysters." It was by no means a tower & only included ONE OYSTER (SINGULAR), one shrimp & the tiniest piece of king crab. Both our entrees, the uni pasta & waygu steak were TOO SALTY. Uni pasta was also undercooked. Service was slow & lacking. Waitress only offered to refill drinks after we were all done with the entree & took forever to come back with the drink. We spent a lot of time just waiting around after every course. The table behind us with a different waitress was moving at a much faster pace. I really loved this spot, although with COVID it is all outdoors, the food was amazing. This place had one of the best Uni Pastas I've ever tasted and it has sprinkles of truffles in it. I did the dinela and it is well worth it. The sushi was fresh, wagyu steak grilled to perfection, grilled octopus tender, scallop carpaccio fresh. The service was great as well. One thing I would like to note is, try to request a table near the entrance. I guess it is common for "homeless" (i don't know the right term and want to be respectful) to roam around. Chose to come by during DineLA based on the menu. Let me say, the menu did not disappoint. We even added a few other items because it sounded too good to pass up. The outdoor patio is cute enough, but be prepared to be berated by local passers by since it a busy street, and there are no bug killing measures in place- we had to kill at least 10 on our table, and request new water because flies kept getting in. It took 40 minutes from sitting down and telling our server we would be participating in the DineLA menu, before we were brought our starter salads, which was followed by the grilled octopus and shrimp dumplings. Both served hot, but eaten cold since they were not spaced appropriately, and we had just started our salads. We had requested the hamachi carpaccio, based on our servers recommendation, but that never came. Between courses, our utensils were taken, and no replacements were ever brought, so we ate the uni pasta with chopsticks. When we arrived, we were notified that they were out of the chocolate lava cake, but may be making more (it was the beginning of dinner service, how are you already out of one of the two options for dessert?) so we both ordered the yuzu cheesecake. As our meal progressed, we noticed other tables being served the lava cake, so when our server finally came around, we asked if it was now available, since that was what we originally requested at the outset. An hour after being seated, our main course arrives (with only one fork to share between us), and everything is delicious. The pasta- divine. The steak - juicy and perfectly seasoned. After we finish those however, we sit, waiting another half hour for dessert (which was ordered at the outset, and reminded our server about before the main course was even served). When it finally comes, it's two yuzu cheesecakes. We then tell the busser that one of the deserts should be a lava cake, and we wait another while for that to arrive, this time without any utensils until our server brings us spoons after both deserts have been sitting on our table for five minutes. Desert was the most disappointing portion of the meal, basic cheesecake, and an undercooked brownie (delicious ice cream though). Overall, the food was amazing, with varied flavor profiles, and delightful textures, but the service left us wary of returning for dine in. Maybe takeaway is the way to go with COD. read more

The restaurant looked really nice and it also looked like they have a full bar so if you're into that. For the most part, our food came out to be pretty good. The crab cake was served cold (meant to be) and that was tasty. The micro greens were nice. The grilled octopus is served over some beans and arugula. I didn't like the sauce. The roasted duck breast was really good. There was still quite a bit of fat on the skin tho. The homie ordered the scallops which looked delicious and the lady ordered the filet mignon which was probably the best dish of the night. The service was cool but really slow. Came during Dine LA. Have been eyeing this place and so glad I was able to try. Definitely great food and drinks and would come back again. My absolute favorite dish here that will have me coming back is the uni pasta. Highly suggest this. They also offered spicy tuna with crispy rice, roasted octopus, and scallops. All were pretty good. No complaints.They have a oyster bar, which we didnt get to try, hoping to next time. I suggest to always make a reservation is a restaurant offers it especially in this area. Tried this place out for DineLA a while back and off the bat I was unhappy with the service. I made reservations for 830p and wasn't seated until 10pm-ish. As impatient as I am I tried to leave at least twice but was coerced into staying since we were already there (rollin eyes). I felt bad for our waitress as she was the only working on a busy Friday night. Shout out to her for holding it down like a champ. Unfortunately I don't remember her name but please believe me that she is the reason this place didn't get one (1) star. On to the food - blahhhhhhhhhh! The best thing we had was the fried rice. My steak was over cooked, the sushi was somewhat stale and the portions were tiny for the price. However, I did enjoy those fried gyoza or wontons or whatever they were called, had I known I would of ordered tons of those and would have been satisfied. I'm hoping that I just chose the wrong night to try COD. I will try again on a regular night once Covid decides to leave the world for good. read more

This restaurant has everything going for it. A open bright lit friendly yet elegant interior. With a extremely funny welcoming staff. We arrived right at 4:00 pm when the doors opened and we were promptly sat by the bartender. She had the type of personality that made you feel like she's been a friend all your life and had my boyfriend and I laughing with in the first few words she spoke. We are major foodies so we started with the Pork Xiao Long Bao and Steamed Siu Mai Dumplings. Both delicious. Then followed by the Mongolian Style Beef entree, To share and then the Truffle Uni Pasta for my guy and the Squid Ink Seafood Pasta for me. Which is now my favorite go to pasta. The uni pasta has a creamy sauce with truffle and is the very best I've had! Salt and pepper tofu had a light crisp to it and was soft and luscious inside. Pork belly was a bit hard, but the sauce was yummy. read more
