Especially enjoy the Chicken and Pork tamales. Lots of meat and not to much masa. Delicious and worth it.

Local to my job and one of my usual lunch spots!! Parking isn't the best since it's a smaller lot,…read morebut it's manageable depending on the time you go. I usually order during the lunch rush, so I preorder ahead and it can take anywhere from 11-20 minutes. Most of the time I'll park at the Shell station to get gas, leave my car there, and walk over while my food finishes up. Easy little system for myself. The team here is honestly great. They've been trying to hire more front staff, but the new girl they recently hired is super sweet and has such good energy. Honestly though, everyone there has always been kind and accommodating, so please be patient as it's a small business and they work hard. Food is always solid, never had a bad experience. Portions are good, plenty of options, and the salsa is SO good. I always ask for an extra one because your girl is a sauce person. I'd gladly pay for it too, that's how serious I am about the salsa, but they usually just toss me an extra. My job has catered from them twice and we've also eaten there as a team a few times. They're always accommodating and consistent. Also one of my favorite things: they have a stamp card. Collect 10 stamps and you'll get a free SUPER burrito! To me, purchase 10 burritos and the 11th is free and yes, I've already earned at least 3 free burritos, so that should tell you everything you need to know. I do believe that the stamps for meant for 10 purchases in general. For my stamp card, the new girl she fixed it, it is still 10 purchases, however and not 11. She and I both know that because she'll see me soon for my free SUPER burrito. They also have a food truck nearby and promote the location inside the restaurant, so definitely ask about it if you're interested!

I ordered a burrito from the menu board, which clearly states "choice of any meat." However, when I paid, I was charged an additional $0.97 for the meat I selected. If the menu advertises a choice of any meat, customers shouldn't be surprised with an extra charge depending on the option. I brought this to the staff's attention after paying and mentioned that the menu board may need to be updated so it accurately reflects pricing. Unfortunately, the concern was not really addressed. It may seem like a small amount, but it's really about clear and honest menu pricing. I've supported this place many times before, so this was disappointing. I'd appreciate hearing from the owner about whether the menu will be corrected so future customers aren't confused by the "choice of any meat" wording.

Feb 2 2025 3.5 stars…read more Lately our go to Mexican eats is Cinco De Mayo in Martinez. Christians-smh. It is Sunday and Cinco is closed. The server and service here at Isla was perfect. I pointed out to he waiter that he had a crumb on his chin and he wiped and chuckled like a nice champ. The music is pleasant but a bit louder than needed so I brought out the earplugs. The entire indoor setup is nice. Our food is arriving after what seems like a long wait meaning either the food is being served fresh, hot and tasty, or we are in for a mediocre experience. Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. The two plates and a coke at $43 has me scratching my chin on whether we will make that drive again. That is unless it is Sunday. Then possibly. .

The…read morefirst time I tried it at Isla, however, I was completely let down--the meat was bland and the burrito felt stale. After giving it some thought, I decided to return and explore what it was about Isla that everyone raved over. This time around, I ordered the fish tacos, and I was hooked! Isla's fish tacos are phenomenal--easily the best in the area and a must-have every single time. I usually go for the tilapia, though I've sampled the red snapper as well. They come out super crispy on the outside yet remain incredibly moist inside, with the salsa and toppings melding together perfectly. I also visited their new location today and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking and comfortable seating. The space is beautiful, making it even more enjoyable to stop by for those irresistible fish tacos. Here's a quick rundown of my ratings: Fish (all varieties): 8.7/10 Birria: 7/10 (good, but not their standout item) Carne Asada Super Burrito: 5.8/10 When it comes to satisfying my fish taco cravings, Isla remains the only choice.

I honestly had no idea there was a Mexican restaurant in this plaza until just very recently. I'd…read morealways just known this place for Dollar Tree and TJ Maxx. To my pleasant surprise, the Yelp reviews were actually pretty solid too, so I figured why not give it a shot. The menu was pretty basic/standard, with all the usual Mexican food staples like Burritos, Tacos, Enchilada Plates, etc. But because it was my first time here, I decided to keep it simple and order a Regular Burrito with Carne Asada as my protein of choice. To my surprise, the burrito was actually pretty good. The Carne Asada had a lot of flavor and included a slight smoky taste to it, which isn't something I typically get from other nearby Mexican spots. The Reg Burrito size was decent. Not huge not small. My one issue was that the Burrito wasn't wrapped very tightly so when I picked it up, it kind of flopped to one side, and especially after I cut it in half, the filling started spilling out everywhere. Still though, the flavor was good. Price was quite standard too, at about $13.50 as of May 2026. Judging it solely based on the flavor, I'd come back to try some of their other dishes. One thing to keep in mind though is the restaurant itself is pretty small on the inside, so it might be a little cramped if you're coming with a big group.

Quesabirrias had good amount of tender beef but let down by a lackluster tortilla which had not been crisped up sufficiently. Beef consomé was mild and average. Jamaica was excellent. Complimentary tortilla chips. The lady at the counter was super nice.

Usually, we call in our order, but this time I decided to order through their website so I could pay ahead and schedule lunch pickup. That's when I noticed something shocking. The pricing on their website is much higher than on other platforms. On DoorDash, a regular taco is $3.85. On their own website, the same taco is listed for $6.04. The description online says "two soft corn tortillas," which I assumed meant two tacos (especially at double the price). When I picked up the order, I explained the pricing difference to the employee, hoping for clarification. Instead of being helpful, he was dismissive, made me feel small, and treated my question like it was silly. He even showed me their in-store total for three tacos $13.72 which made my point exactly: why was I charged $22.38 for the same three tacos just because I ordered through their own site? It's disappointing to feel taken advantage of as a loyal customer, and even more disappointing to be treated poorly when simply asking for an explanation. Unfortunately, this experience has me rethinking whether we'll be back. If you're gonna order ahead do it through door dash.
