Food Thai food with accommodating options for vegans and vegetarians (no fish sauce, yay!!). We ordered the pad see ew with tofu, fried rice with tofu, curry, and mango sticky rice and a pineapple juice. The mango sticky rice was delicious and the rice was extra sticky and dense. So while delicious and but annoying. We'd still get it again if we were coming by tho. Fried rice was mediocre but the pad see ew was a winner. Pineapple juice was fresh and refreshing but not worth the $$. Service was EXCELLENT. Very kind, welcoming, and efficient. 3 stars because the food was good but not great. It was nice having a sure vegetarian/vegan option but food was a bit bland and still relatively pricey for a lunch. Main complaint was the place was covered in flies. It was very irritating eating while swatting flies all the time. I get that it's the weather and the fruits display outside but still annoying. Customer service is not at the top of this little business' list, but it's not a bad joint to go for a refreshingly chilled coconut. I may not have a lot experience in the coconut department,but I can tell you this was delish! This weighted beverage to-go would've probably been better had I spent a few extra dollars to get the meat cut out. Located opposite to the awesome Island Tacos right next to the pretty decent shrimp station, Coconut Corner is guaranteed to have a good amount of traffic. After all, who wouldn't want a cold coconut to cool off some island heat after a full meal? The coconuts are not cheap. Even the tiniest one cost over $5. I had one and it was no where as good as the flavorful sweet ones I had on some Southeast Asia tropical islands. They will open up your coconut when you are done so you can scrap off the meat to eat. Do not under estimate the stomach filling power of the coconut. I got really full afterwards. It had fun but it was also rather overpriced. read more

Put this establishment on the top of your list of places NOT to visit. As a local from Oahu who has visited other outer islands such as Molokai, Maui, and the big island, this business stands for all that is anti-aloha. Aside from attempting to sell me a $10 coconut, the lady behind the counter had the audacity to state that it'll cost an extra buck to cut it open for me. Not even in the worst hawaii tourist trap (Waikiki) does a coconut go for more than $3. Look lady, I can see the tree you picked the coconut from. KEEP DRIVING! This place has a very convenient location right off 550 that makes it very appealing for hikers to grab a refreshing coconut, smoothie or Thai food after an exhausting hike in the near by parks but don't be fooled. Their prices are ridiculous! $7 for a small coconut and $10 for a large. Their lunch items are very overpriced as well. My wife and I split the Kauai grilled shrimp for $16.99 and grabbed a coconut. At least the coconut was refreshing but the shrimp were horrible - rubbery and no where close to what I would consider fresh. read more

The Pad See Ew was totally different from other Thai restaurants.. The noodles were slim and there was absolutely no spice in it. They usually ask us how spicy we want it so it didn't occur to us to as for hot or Thai hot depending on what we are in the mood for. It was good Thai food, but I felt like it could of had more flavor in it. They had many choices to choose from on the menu and lots of fresh fruit. I have mad love for coconut water. Ever since I traveled to the Bahamas when I was a kid and drank juice straight from the nut, I've been down with the stuff. And nothing beats fres coconut water from a cold, green coconut. After almost a week on Kauai and not finding any coconuts falling off of trees for me to crack, I bit the bullet and stopped a one of the ubiquitous roadside stands for some nut nectar. Coconut corner happened to be near the place we stopped for lunch so it seemed as good as any. The place was quiet and I'm guessing the price of the coconuts is why. The second size up from the smallest was $7.25! Now I have no idea if that standard on the island, but damn these things do grow on trees all over the islands, if I'm not mistaken, and while it's not quite as good, I can get twice the volume in a can imported from Thailand for less than a third of the price. I do have t say, the cold, fresh, full coconut was insanely refreshing and super tasty. Not sure I'd pay tha price for a second one, though. read more

The coconut was good if expensive. Did not try their food. Serious bad points for selling mangos that were inferior. We should have know it wasn't mango season and when we asked where they were from the owner was vague. When we got them back to where we were staying we looked closer and saw that oval labels had been peeled off of the mangos. They bought them somewhere else and resold them at higher price. Two words - TOURIST TRAP. Go to a farmers' market instead although a friend in the know who lives in Kauai and used to sell at the markets says that a few vendors get their produce from Costco. Bah! I'm a little perplexed by the other reviews of this place. We spotted this store on the way up to Waimea Canyon. It is literally at one of the intersections of the main roadway up to the canyon. Maybe it is because I am a bit naive to the business of selling coconuts, but the 5 coconuts that my friends and I had from this place were great. The owner took 5-10 minutes to describe to us what distinguishes a good and bad coconut. Then chopped each one up into a separate bowls for us right from the fridge. These coconuts were brimming with coconut water and after we drank the juice, the owner then split the coconut in half for us to eat the coconut meat. The tab came out to about $45 dollars for 3 small coconuts and 2 medium to large coconuts. I'm guessing there are cheaper options, like Ishihara's Market in Waimea, but this hit the spot. read more

Great fruit, cranky and dismissive service. We kept passing this place on Waimea Canyon and Koke'e Park trips, and stopped in several times. The eating experience was always delightful --- clear, light coconut water followed by rich scooped-out coconut; juicy cut papaya; a whole papaya that (several days later) was outstanding; and fine, if full-of-seeds and not very sweet, guava. Unfortunately, the service was just as reliable --- the employees ranged from too-bored-to-talk to why-are-you-making-me-use-this-cash-register.
