It was cool that we're able to choose our own coconut, but I wish that it was cold instead of lukewarm. I like how they'll even cut it open for you to eat the insides which was silky and fresh. The banana bread was ok and nothing to go crazy for--I def had better. As for the mango sticky rice, it was an overall yummy dessert but I did enjoy the coconut sticky rice more than the actual mangoes. Some mangoes were riper and tasted more sweeter than others. It was also a small portion. They have food items and tons of smoothies on the menu that I'd be open to trying if I ever return to Kauai. Service was welcoming and fast and I liked how she informed us of certain menu items that were not available before ordering. There are a few picnic tables to sit at, but this is more of a grab and go spot. Overall, it's a pretty cool spot to check out especially after sightseeing at the canyon, but it's not something I would go crazy for.

It was all produce and food, like jams, nuts, cookies and pies. All the vendors were so nice and informative. We met a guy from Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple. He was the only one giving out free samples of the pineapple and the juice. Very nice and we bought the juice from him along with the dehydrated pineapple. Worth every penny. So many vendors and so much fruit. We got the sugarloaf and a dragon fruit from the vendor near JOJOS . She was great and good prices. This was the market to come to. Lots to buy. Loved it

The shops are open during the market as well. Expect a line at some of the more popular vendors. The coconut drinks were busy--give that booth some space as when they are chopping the coconuts, stuff is flying everywhere lol! The pineapple vendor was very popular as well. Loved they had free samples available as that was probably one of the best pineapples I've ever had! Was happy I also got to try the Right Slice, which also was very popular and had a line. They were friendly and helpful in answering questions and sharing their most popular pies. We got two slices for $15. The lilikoi cheesecake was incredible and their most popular flavor. We also got the mango lilikoi which had a peach pie texture. That one was more bland and I didn't care for it as much as the other one.

Frequented some of the same stands. Bought 2 loaves of organic sourdough bread. Samosas from the Indian food stand.. Gluten free bakery items from Hanoli (?) Girl stall. The stand has regular bakery items as well that look good, Especially their croissants. Went to the other produce stand as they had a bigger selection. Bought 2 honey sugarloaf pineapples which were extra sweet & $1/lb. cheaper than white sugarloaf pineapples. Bought several mangoes. Cut some this morning & they were very good. Found a stand selling 100% cotton kitchen towels, beeswax paper, reusable paper towels & a few other kitchen items. They had the cutest Hawaiian prints for decent price. I bought 3 rolls of beeswax paper & a set of matching kitchen towels & reusable paper towels as a gifts. Also bought a cute Hanalei Farmer's Market cloth grocery bag for future trips. They were sold at the entrance to the market. I look forward to going to this farmer's market next year with my new bag.

Located in the downtown are of Hanalei on Kauai's north shore, the Hanalei Farmer's Market operates…read moreonly on Saturday morning. With the beautiful weather and easy parking, the setting was perfect for a great time. But found out that it wasn't worth the 50 minute drive by itself, though there are plenty of places to visit on the north shore around that area...still worth the trip. We arrived a bit earlier than the 09:00 start time, so parked near the Hanalei Pier, and walked across the sand of the beach to enjoy the morning before arriving at the market. The market was fairly hopping by 09:30, with 30 different stalls selling their wares. My goal was to find two things to munch on first, as we walked the market: some sliced white pineapple and malasadas. It's clear that for food items, the market does an effective job of making sure a type of a food item is sold by only one vendor at the market...it really inflates the price. White pineapple is a lot less hardier for transport, thus hard to find on the mainland...but definitely a far superior pineapple in terms of sweetness and juiciness. The vendor that sold it here, presented it in slivers inside the typical cored pineapple container. I saw it right away, but noticed that there was no price....it ended up being $20 (I was committed at that point), which is pretty steep for maybe 1/4 of a pineapple. I found the malasada vendor, making it fresh on-site. We only wanted to taste, so got one for $3 non-filled...and it was disappointing...just OK. Should have tasted a lot better considering where we were. We circled the market multiple times, and ended up staying for about an hour. It's a market geared towards tourists like me, not locals: you are not going to find a local restauranteur looking for produce for his/her dinner menu here. Speaking of being a tourist: did end up buying a nice print of nearby Anini beach that we will frame at our home to remind us of Kauai...the artist was super grateful. The picture itself gave me a mission to find that view at Anini (as we were heading there next).

Tucked into the side of the road, it's pretty easy to drive past this fruit stand if you're not paying attention. They have a pretty stocked selection of fresh fruits. And although prices were definitely on the high end, all the fruits were fresh, ripe, and ready to eat. The people manning this stand are really friendly and very willing to answer our questions.

Found this small farmers market outside of the little town in waimea. It is down a very rocky…read moredriveway so be careful walking. There were a couple of stalls, lots of fruit, some produce. There was one vendor with food, one with honey, and another with cream/spray/soap. I found some star apple, egg fruit, and magnesium cream (which the vendor told me she sources medical grade quality from Germany). The egg fruit won't be ready for another week but the star apple should be good to eat today. There were some people shopping early which I was lucky too since we have to drive back to Lihue. If you are in the area definitely check it out!

The non-profit Hale Puna is currently in the process of restoring the Hale Puna house, formerly known as the Gulick Rowell Mission House. This historic house was completed in 1830. Emergency roof repair began Fall 2017 and the house restoration process will continue once enough funds are acquired. Once restored, the house and working farm will provide for the conservation of the historically significant property. The traditional food forest will host classes and workshops on sustainability and the history of West Kauai agriculture and the house will be used as a community center for events and performances that contribute to the cultural fabric of West Kauai life.
