Miso ramen (left), gyoza (center), tonkatsu ramen (right)
    Morgan C.

Came at 9 pm and waited about 15 minutes. Got the gyoza, tonkatsu, and miso ramen. We also got a grapefruit chuhai. The tonkotsu broth was different in a good way than any we've had before. The pork is a bit on the skimpy side, and the tonkatsu ramen seemed to have less toppings. The miso ramen seemed legit to me. I chose the normal miso broth, although I was tempted to try the vegan broth option afforded by the miso ramen. It came a generous portion of corn and scallions. I liked it fine and got a kaedama (extra noodles). Gyoza was good, but we probably wouldn't order it again as it was pretty standard. The grapefruit chuhai was literally with half a grapefruit that you squeeze yourself. That meant it wasn't as sweet as one might expect. I was thinking it would be like a grapefruit highball, but it really was like a soju with grapefruit zest, which made it strong to drink still. I wouldn't get this again, but it was fun to try. This place is really made me feel like I was back in Japan- totally legit and would easily fit in place back home in California. Price is on par with current prices for ramen.

You could easily miss the door for this place, if not for the long line outside. It was a chilly night visiting Berlin and I was craving ramen. We must have just missed a seating as even though they have a good amount of spots (seating extends into the back porch), we waited about 50 minutes - not going to lie, I was moaning about it the entire time. But once we got our ramen - Wowow it was worth it! I got the Tonkotsu ramen which is something I've ordered at other places, but the flavor of the broth was surprisingly unique! It had this underlying peppery grilled flavor that was delicious, and the pork belly was cooked to perfection. My husband had the Tantan ramen and was equally happy. I like that the kaedama (extra noodles) come on the side, so you can share with your companion. Delicious satisfying meal *slurp*

Okay, so this is a review coming from someone who has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past four years and eaten at some of the best ramen places there. Okay, so, I came to Cocolo Ramen with pretty high expectations after reading the English reviews on Yelp. So, from a Californian perspective: I would say this place is okay, but it is definitely NOT on par with any ramen place I have tried in the SF area, or LA. Anyway, it can get pretty hot inside, but there is outdoor seating (I think that is what I saw). The servers greet you when you come and go, just like all Japanese restaurants. I am not sure if they speak English because I was spoken to in German the entire time (weird, I know), but they do speak Japanese, and if you do too, you can easily strike up a conversation with the cook. I ordered the shoyu ramen, and the pork meat was few in proportion, the noodles were okay, and the soup base was below mediocre -- sad to say. You know something is wrong if I am not drinking the soup. I may have come on a so-so night, I do not know. I am willing to come back here sometime before I head back to the States in the fall, and maybe I will have a change of heart.

My brother and I had dinner here with his friends. It's a tiny restaurant so we had to wait a bit but it did look like an authentic ramen place. The aromas from the open kitchen was so appetizing and we were all excited. I love ramen and I've got my favorite spots in NY. So when I try a new place I compare it by ordering the classic hakata tonkotsu ramen. Cocolo's tonkotsu ramen was quite good though it's not among the best of what I've had at other places. They do get points for having gyoza on the menu though. And the gyoza was delicious alongside the ramen and some Japanese beer.

The entry from Cocolo Ramen. There's so many people waiting to have a seat inside. Hiding place but you can find it easy ..
    Silvia A.

For me .. the waiting time to get a seat is not too long and also its not too short. But when they asked me for what i want to eat until the food coming, i think its very fast. You don't need to wait a long time to get your food. Appetizer is the best. Kakuni meat is really delicious. It's so perfect blend with the marinade. And also the Gyoza, i can give 5 stars for this. Ramen .. is ok for me. I can eat but it's just like a normal Ramen like i eat in Düsseldorf. About the seat, you can't get the privacy because you must to seat with another people. But it's also ok. It's not suitable for long sitting. The staff was so friendly and i really satisfied with the service.

This is probably the best ramen place in Berlin. During 4 months of my stay in Berlin, I couldn't find any ramen place that would top this or any good ramen place in Berlin in general. Of course you had to line up for it. My coworkers and I went there early, before it opened and there were already people in line. Luckily we got a spot even though there were 6 of us. This is one of the places where you have to line up but it's not hyped up. I had the tonkastu ramen. All the ingredients in the ramen are pretty high quality, the pork, the seaweed, the ginger etc. I'm not sure if it was because I haven't had good ramen for so long or maybe it's actually that amazing but best ramen ever! Please keep it up!

Outstanding ramen & great service all at a reasonable price. I found this little gym on a few different websites & can say this hole-in-the-wall didn't disappoint. The location itself is very small & can be a little tricky to find. There's typically a 5-10 minute queue & the smaller your group the faster you'll be seated because of the space limitation. The staff were super friendly as well. They sat me at the counter where I chatted with a regular for suggestions, so based on that I started with the shrimp wantans which they make fresh in-house. It's a soft, moist noodle wrapped around shrimp & put into hot water and served with green onions on top. Awesome. Afterwards they brought me the tonkotsu ramen with chashu, ajitama and a huge, juicy lump of pork in it. It was very good! Highly recommend checking this out if you are in town!

Shio made with gluten free rice noodles!!! So delicious!

I feel like the sign that a restaurant of [insert ethnicity] is delicious and the real deal is if the majority of patrons of X ethnicity eat there, and if the chefs are of X ethnicity. Well, if that is an indication, this place is packed to the brim with Japanese clientele, and the chefs, one of which is kinda hot, are all Japanese. I was right - the food is delicious (especially when you add the condiments) , the price is right, and the experience is authentic. Yayyyyyy! Hipsters rejoice! The ambience feels like you're in a smoky, cozy Japanese street eatery in a 1940s traditional Japan meets 2016 teak wood Japanese modern age sort of way. Each bowl hovers around 8-10 euro so hooray, that means you can eat at least two and still be a cheapskate! There's outdoor seating in the back, and a beautiful interior, in a fun neighborhood. You really can't go wrong. So good I definitely ordered and ate two bowls of Shio in one sitting lol. ~~~ THOSE WITH GLUTEN ALLERGIES, REJOICE!! ~~~ What's even better than the awesome food, is the service. I was SO excited to try their food that I stupidly forgot that ramen noodles are made of wheat, and helllllllo I am actually allergic to wheat. I was literally crushed when I realized this, especially because WE WERE SITTING AT THE TABLE WHEN I DID. SMH. I went all the way there, 25 minutes via train, walked 10 more minutes, waited 10 more minutes for a table, waited 10 more minutes for the waitress to come AND THEN THE REALIZATION HIT ME. Dude. Re-freaking-diculous. I'm SMH @ my damn self. When you think you've finally found something which checks off for being free of all 9,367 things you're allergic to, it's like all brain function stops! Anyway, upon telling her of my allergy, the waitress kindly asked the chefs if they had any rice noodles on hand (without my knowledge!), and came back to report they could make Shio specifically for me, WITH GLUTEN FREE RICE NOODLES!! #YASSSSSGAWDDDDDDD And when I tell you that this ramen was banging, was the bees knees, was all that and a bag of chips, I mean it! Being the greedy heathen I am, I ordered 2 bowls of Shio. Was totes worth it. YAYYYYYYYY. I will legit always come back here, for that alone.

Amazing. That's all you really need to know. This ramen is ~amazing~. There are a few choices, not too many to feel overwhelmed, not too few to feel restricted. There's an option for vegetarians, too. I would recommend going about 15-20 minutes before opening. That way, you can get in when they first open. There WILL be a line -- it's that's good, that even in the cold of winter, there's a line. Be sure to line up on the other side of the street next to the park. Once you get in, you'll instantly feel cozy and ready for some ramen. I've tried the tantan and the shoyu, both with a happy, pleased reaction! Delicious. In short, if you want the best ramen in Berlin, come here!! Also, their service is very good, they are so friendly.

OK. Here we go. For Berlin Maybe this is the best lamian we could get. But If we are in Japan, This lamian is very normal lamian shop with really expensive price. noodle is not special, soup is not special for me. BUT! We are in Berlin. Maybe that is the best one we can get.

Moyatan - spicy minced meat with bean sprouts and seaweed salad

I was actually very impressed and surprised by this place. I wasn't expecting much being from this place since it is in Berlin but this place is actually one of the better ramen places I've been to (and we have some pretty good options in NYC/Boston.) Mostly though I was impressed that they actually hired people who are able to speak Japanese (which seems like a rarity these days...) It was a good experience also because we were seated at the ramen bar so we got to watch the chefs cook everyone's food. We ordered the Tonkotsu and the Shoyu. The Tonkotsu soup base was delicious and the pork belly in it was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth! The Shoyu was also SO GOOD. For our appetizer we also got the Moyatan (because they sadly ran out of the kakuni...) which was not for me, but it was still pretty good. I highly recommend you come here if you haven't had legit ramen before!

It has been a long time since I had ramen this good! The funny thing too is I tried coming here three times during my stay in Berlin and the first two it was packed and we decided to go somewhere else. I'm really glad we finally managed to come here as it was great. A small galley type kitchen where you can sit at the bar or at a few tables is how it is laid out. It does have a sort of izakaya feel but more food than drink. There are also table out back on the patio and this is shared with the sushi place next door. The smells in the kitchen/bar are good but when it is nice out you got to be out back. We got some gyoza, which were very good. Just the right ratio of meat to veggies that at least to me are the sign of a good one. Perfectly pan fried so they are crispy on one side and soft on the other. We also tried the Tonkotas and tan tan ramens. Both were a bit of heaven in a bowl. A real richness and soul in the broth and good bits floating in there. The Tonkats had some smoked pork belly and all too late I saw you can also order that as a side dish, I still kick myself about not doing that. The tantan was a nice spicy ground pork. Noodles were perfect as well. I'm sure in the winter this place is even more packed than when I went because this is perfect cold winter food as well. I just wish I had a chance to go to cocolo a few more times before I left Berlin.

This is probably the best ramen place in Berlin even though we had to wait for a few minutes. It was definitely worth it. The broth was aesthetic and the portion sice was ideal. The staff is very friendly and motivated. I also recommend the Gyoza and Edamame as an appetizer. Won't be the last time I visited this awesome place.

I mean was I going to eat ramen while I was in Germany? What about finding some bratwurst and beer? Well I ended up walking all over, but came back to Marubi, because dammit I really wanted some Ramen. It's not a big restaurant, but it wasn't busy when I was there (it was after 8), so I got seated right away. I ordered the beef ramen. The very little German I can speak and understand didn't stop me from getting a delicious bowl of ramen, and it was delicious. There's a good ramen place in Dublin where I live, but it's a bit of a ways for me to get to. So yeah Ramen in Berlin was a great idea. I always forget how much I love ramen until I have a bowl. This was as good as the ramen I tried in Tokyo. Homemade, nicely seasoned, and a good price. With some water it was 9.80, and was enough to keep me satiated until breakfast the next morning. If you're in Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin it's worth stopping in for a delicious bowl of ramen at Marubi.
