Good food but they refuse to give a glass of tap water.. It's a shame to be forced to buy a little plastic bottle. Shame to lower to tone

I was staying at a hostel near here. I got in a little later and started wandering around the neighbourhood looking for some dinner. I saw Marubi, but kept walking. I mean was I going to eat ramen while I was in Germany? What about finding some bratwurst and beer? Well I ended up walking all over, but came back to Marubi, because dammit I really wanted some Ramen. It's not a big restaurant, but it wasn't busy when I was there (it was after 8), so I got seated right away. I ordered the beef ramen. The very little German I can speak and understand didn't stop me from getting a delicious bowl of ramen, and it was delicious. There's a good ramen place in Dublin where I live, but it's a bit of a ways for me to get to. So yeah Ramen in Berlin was a great idea. I always forget how much I love ramen until I have a bowl. This was as good as the ramen I tried in Tokyo. Homemade, nicely seasoned, and a good price. With some water it was 9.80, and was enough to keep me satiated until breakfast the next morning. If you're in Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin it's worth stopping in for a delicious bowl of ramen at Marubi. read more

Not very authentic but still pretty tasty. The gyozas tasted store bought and they were not crispy! However, I do have a soft spot for gyozas and I would be happy eating many more with that delicious vinegar dipping sauce they provide. Moving on--the ramen did not taste Japanese at all. I could not help but think that I was eating a Chinese pork noodle soup. Even the workers were speaking in Mandarin the whole time. The broth was not rich or creamy at all, but light and translucent like the broth in pho. Although it did not have the flavor or aroma of a pork broth, it still tasted quite satisfying. However, the noodles were a bit bland and they were not the typical noodles used in traditional ramen shops. Furthermore, there were no bamboo shoots in the soup, but sugar/snow peas instead. I would probably come back here only for convenience and the prices were very affordable. You are definitely getting what you pay for so if you want better ramen, I would suggest another ramen place that charges around €10 instead of €6.50 for a bowl of ramen. read more

Ordered the veggie ramen. The seitan or whatever sweet, sponge like cubes were in the dish were strange and the long black hair in it didn't make it appetizing either. Had the cucumber starter, which was tiny, way over salted, and just not that fresh...best to go elsewhere. read more

Soooo....This place aint bad. It is actually not what I expected at all. Not that I expected it to be bad but I expected Japanese and I got Chinese. I wonder if there are Italian restaurants in Japan serving Bratwurst, and Schweinehaxe with Germans pretending to be Italian because Asians can't tell the difference..bad humor..Anyway. I had the Beef noodle soup. It was actually great but it was a Chinese Beef noodle soup and not what you expect at a Japanese Ramen spot. I also had the Shanghai soup dumplings. They were pretty good too. In my opinion there is a real lack of Chinese food in Berlin especially in the east, so they should make it more obvious that they aren't a Japanese Ramen place. I do recommend this spot though if you are in the neighborhood and looking for good simple food. It's good and simple. read more

I was really excited to try Ramen in Berlin. By looking at the menu, my only vegetarian option is Veggie (or Vegan?) Ramen without soup. I did not know what to expect and seems, what I ordered was a totally twisted heavily fusion lukewarm ramen (again, without soup, meh). Partially, I expected authentic Japanese ramen but their veggie ramen was more in a broad term, I would say "Asian food". First impression; Although there was NO SOUP (still), the stock they used was way too sweet for my liking. I realized, I should be open minded and with my zen approach, when I closed the eyes and tried disregarding the semi-Japanese decor in the restaurant, I got another perspectives. As Asian food, this is a very unique dish and adding on with the chill sauce (and I put a couple giant ice cream scoop size of them), then it is edible. read more

My friend and I ate here on a whim after seeing an ad on the subway, and it turned out to be some of the best food we've eaten in Berlin. The gyoza was crispy on the bottom and juicy on the inside. The xiaolongbao were hot and the soup was flavorful. And our ramen was absolutely the star. My friend got the beef, which was rich and delicious, and I got the charsu with pork that practically melted in your mouth. The broth on the charsu was super flavorful and amazing, and the noodles were perfectly cooked: still a little chewy but easy enough to bite through without being soggy. Finally we had the ginger tea with a delicious pure ginger taste and a slightly sweet hint to it. Not a fakey ginger taste at all which made me very happy. Service was fast and friendly, and our food came quickly and piping hot. Would absolutely recommend for anyone who wants some authentic ramen in Berlin. We'll definition be returning to try out all their dim sum offerings! read more

Really tasty! I'm glad I gave it a try! They do ramen and it tastes very homemade, although it does remind me a bit of the style of soup Chinese cuisine is famous for - Szechuan in particular, but with a very subdued spice level. It would be a treat if someone in eastern Berlin specialised in authentic Szechuan cuisine. Anyway... I had the vegan option which was delicious - it had some of the best Kao Fu (a style of wheat gluten/wheat meat) I've ever tasted! I do wish they did more vegan options. The noodles I had were perfect, chewy with just the right amount of elasticity. Everything was very fresh. I also ate some veggie dumplings which were yummy as well. I would definitely recommend them for some delicious and satisfying food - absolutely worth the trip, money and time :) I will be back! read more

Not ramen, sorry. It was like spaghetti noodles in a flavorless broth. Beef ramen? Huh? Gyoza was easily forgettable. We had some shrimp app that was basically whole unpeeled shrimp fried with all shells on. Super lame. Service was good. read more

Tried their rice bowl with beef. Not bad, but not impressive either. Not very authentic IMO, but still nice to eat.

Can't really understand why this place is so packed at lunch time. The ramen are really not good. The noodles taste like industry spaghetti and the broth is boring. It's neither original Japanese ramen nor - which would be fine - a east-asean fusion. If they pretend to serve Japanese ramen the expectations are high. And the don't deliver. read more

I went here once and it was OK. Definitely not a bad place, but wasn't fully convinced. Their broth, nori, egg were all OK, but their noodles weren't happening. Maybe they're trying to accommodate to the German palate too much? The place has a good reputation, which is why I went there. Makoto's is a lot better imo. Again this is an entirely subjective point of view, even though I do know a lot about good food, but still, it really is my own opinion. All of it tastes industrially made and instant food. The 'ramen' were normal spaghetti and not fresh, the broth was definitely not Japanese like. Also the tofu was tasteless and the 'meat' in the gyōza has almost zero percent of meat. It was all in a rush. We just seated and they asked for the order. We wanted to look but every 30 seconds they asked again... Wasted 16 Euro and will never go again. read more
