How disconcerting is it to pass by a place and seeing the name that looks like it's saying that it's dirty inside? I see "Cochino", and did a double-take. After having some ramen noodles next door we decided to step into here for dessert. The place is inviting and at this time on a Saturday at 5 o' clock it was pretty much quiey with about eight people, all on their laptops and smartphones. Quiet music is played in here which will give you a sense that you're welcome to do your studying here or to have a nice normal conversation face to face 4 feet apart. You are met at the door by a stack of baby chairs, five or six wooden tables and a faux leather couch to sit on. As you approach the counter you will notice the condiment bar with ice water, cups, napkins and a few little bottles for your Crepes if you have anything that is not fruity. Upon further advancement you and noticed a nice selection of teas to your left and if you turn to your right facing the counter you will see the menu and hopefully a welcoming smile at the counter, that was not the case today I think the guy would have rather been somewhere else, oh well. I don't blame him, it's Saturday! We ordered the craps and which my son had the crepes in which he had the All-American and I ordered the Banana Foster. They really do not go all the way out to decorate their crops like some other places but they were delightfully light and filling for dessert. Maybe it was my imagination but the bananas didn't seem to be really that fresh since I noticed some dark spots, but I could contribute to the caramel that was also mixed in there so I'm not going to take off any points for that, I just have to be aware of it next time. I was eating too fast to stop There is a patio with about 5 picnic tables or you can see, weather permitting to your comfort level. If you happen to because in the area Monday through Friday from 3 to 5pm, you are enticed to come in with a 20% off of all menu items. Since I did not have any ice cream this time I did notice however they have a liquid nitrogen ice cream station with supposedly no artificial flavors, Colors, Salt or eggs and gluten-free. Just for your information. Also included in the dietary lineup is a selection of decaffeinated tea. Prices for each dessert crepe was about $8 plus Uncle Sam. I'm going to end the Cocohoodoo and review Cocohodo. I prefer Cocohodo to Cocohobo, because who wants to see a hobo naked, really. I mean, it's probably not going to be the most sanitary experience. But each to their own. It's a massively popular Korean chain, but this is not your average Cocohodo - whatever an average cocohodo may be. This is one which shares its business with a Frozen Treat company - Sweet Vivian's, same owner - and it's pretty popular in the Katy area. I had a "hunch" about coming "back" here, but that's more Quasimodo than Cocohodo. The best thing about it is the nice owner and the great decor. We're not a big fan of the products but with such a friendly owner and some really great employees and such a beautiful space to hang out, there's no way I could ever give it less than a 4. Stuff isn't cheap and I haven't been stunned by anything I've had here yet, so I have to keep coming back to try new items. So Pepsi is trying to get on top of the Cola charts, but so far, we've seen Coca-holdon to the #1 position. We had nitrogen ice cream and drinks, and nothing was great. Products are a little too sweet and dare I say, anglicized. We wanted the famous "Walnut Pastry" but it didn't happen. They haven't had any of them for a long time, corporate issues. It probably will not be a Cocohodo for much longer because several of the signature items that Cocohodo sells are no longer available because they have to be imported and it's complicated like your relationship with your mother. They're probably converting over to simply be a Sweet Vivian's sooner rather than later. Whatever the name of the place it's definitely a really nice place to hang out. So is your mother's bedroom. The entire gang came here to fulfill their sweet tooth urges, following a UYE event. We ordered a few items and shared them amongst ourselves. We ordered the coconut ice cream, sweety with a berry, mango shaved ice, green tea ice cream, and the original shaved ice. The best way I can describe all the items is "sweet". There was enough sweetness in them and I'm sure they were packed with sugar. Its ok to indulge in carbs, once in a while. This was my cheat day. I liked coconut and green tea ice cream. It was creamy in texture with plenty of flavor. Mango shaved ice was very good too. Check out the attached photos, and you can see a good visual description of the items we ordered. Stopped by this establishment to grab some dessert while in Hoston. The place is huge compared to how it looks outside. everything inside was nicely decorated and clean, which is always a plus. They have a huge variety of teas for sale and a list of numerous Asian ice cream flavors from earl grey, matcha, to even honey lavender. What was special about this place was the customer service. My friend and I have never been but we know and enjoy good ice cream, so the gentleman at the front desk took his time to let us try all the flavors that they had available. He walked back and forth with multiple tasting spoons in his hand for the both of us, which was spectacular customer service. I opted for the honey lavender, but next time I would opt for less honey because they literally place a glob of it on top of the ice cream and make the lavender flavor disappear. We got their house sauces like the jam, chocolate, and caramel. Get the Caramel on the side because it was heaven! It wasn't too sweet and wasn't too sticky. I enjoyed my time here and I will definitely tell others they have to check this place out. Hopefully they have more of their special bakery goods that was on back ordered when we visited. My green tea ice cream came out looking like it needed an ambulance! It wasn't even a full scoop, instead it was already melting before it was in my hand. At first, I thought this was how they serve their ice cream until I saw my friend's ice cream with a perfect full scoop. The green tea taste was not visible maybe due to the fact that it was already melting. I couldn't enjoy much of it. Sad face. In addition, I also asked them to make a cute face with the ice cream as I have seen it on Yelp, but they forgot. Double sad face. Cocohodo is actually a really great place to get drinks! They also sell crepes and different kind of desserts. One of the workers answered all of our questions when we were asking about their drinks. He was very knowledgeable about everything, and was really nice and friendly. I would love to come back to try one of their bingsu's or shaved ice. Today, I ordered an iced green tea latte. It is actually one of the best iced green tea lattes I've ever had! I got it with almond milk and I do not regret it. It kind of tastes like a matcha kit kat but less sweet. It's milky and creamy. Disclaimer: I'm more of a gelato person than ice cream but I really wanted to try Cocohodo/Sweet Vivian's because they are right next door to the delicious Korean fried chicken! My group and I found out Sweet Vivian's is for the ice cream although it seemed like Cocohodo is the main thing. We opted to try the honey lavender ice cream, affogato, + strawberry chocolate waffles. The nitrogen ice cream was pretty cool to watch them make and the kids inside the store really enjoyed it. We took our placard outdoors as there were no more seats left (crowded day) + waited for our orders. The ice cream and affogato came together but the waffles didn't come until much later...we thought they forgot about us. The honey lavender ice cream was 2 scoops, kind of pricey for the amount they serve in the cup I'd say, but I liked the floral taste and the light and sweet honey flavor. Not bad, but it could be more intensely flavored IMO. The affogato was also good, I'd get this next time. The strawberry chocolate waffle was just meh. Maybe I'm not a big fan of waffles in general but it was too simple for me...I can easily make it at home. I'd rather have a crepe instead! I've come here several times before, both to study by myself as well as with family and friends. This coffee shop is very cute and tucked away off Mason Rd behind Krispy Kreme. My husband and kids love coming here for ice cream as their ice cream is very delicious and creamy. It is the nitrogen style ice cream, so my kids always love watching that. They offer unique ice cream flavors like Nutella and Lavender, and they are all gluten-free. They also offer crepes and sandwiches, but I haven't tried them. Today I came here to study. I was looking for a place that I knew would be somewhat quiet with free wi-fi and drinks plus food. I immediately thought of Cocohodo. When I got to the counter, I didn't know what to order, so I told the young man that I wanted a hot drink that was sweet but didn't have caffeine. He didn't know what to suggest but immediately turned to the manager (I assume), who suggested a lavender latte. So I went with that. As I scanned the restaurant for a place to settle down and set up my laptop, I did notice that the wall where most of the outlets were was near the front door. The long table with single style seating along the wall seemed to have been planned that way just for people to come in and study. I thought it was nice that they separated that section from the other tables for groups. When I sat down, I noticed the manager walking around and checking on customers to make sure they were doing ok. So they definitely have good customer service down! Within about 5 minutes, my drink was delivered to my table. The presentation was lovely - a bright orange coffee cup with a beautiful design in the latte itself. The taste was great, definitely one of my favorite lattes in the area. A perfect balance of sweet with subtle notes of lavender. The only downside (and reason for lack of a full 5 stars from me) is that I wish they had more outlets throughout the shop, rather than just the table wall and a couple others spread throughout. In this day of coffee shop studying/working, the outlet to table ratio should be pretty high. Overall, I would highly recommend this coffee shop, definitely if you are looking for a quiet place to study with great drinks and friendly service. I will be back! read more

Maybe I got the wrong thing but I don't understand the hype. I was debating between the matcha affogato ($7 after tax) and korean snow ice (bingsoo) and went for the affogato based on the waitress recommendation. - The ice cream used in the affogato has almost no flavor, hard, and super icy. It felt like eating mini chunks of rocks. - The matcha liquid is so so, not bad but nothing to write home about. - the mochi were bad. They taste too soft and stale!!! The waitress was very nice and the store has a really cool coffee shop work space hybrid vibe. But that ends there. Finally, a cafe in East Katy. Katy for me divides into Taylor HS region (what I'm dubbing as East Katy), Old Katy, Cinco Ranch, and further south and west, deeper into Fort Bend. I will preface this by saying that I am quite the fan of Cloud Cafe v1. It underwent renovation and still hasn't reopened even though it was supposed to have reopened in April. Since it's been a month and a half, I can't assume that it will continue to be in business. Enter Cocohodo. Bright, clean, calm, large space. Wall plugs for computer users. Comfy seats and tables in divided sections. Free wifi. High quality teas (from Harney & Sons) and jams (from Sarabeth's in NY). Decent espresso. Constant but unobtrusive service (the gentleman keeps going around cleaning tables, taking away cups, and silently zapping any remote signs of flies haha). Their main items are: Hodo gwaja (Korean walnut pastries) In-house made ice cream Their interpretation of pahtbingsoo (Korean shaved milk ice with fruits and/or sweet red bean) Coffee/espresso drinks Teas Other baked items (madeleines/ladyfingers) The only constructive feedback I have for the management are: 1) the the milk "ice cream." It basically appears to be frozen heavy cream, and the melting texture, especially when paired with espresso, leaves milk fat residues that are way too greasy and curdly for the palate. Please tone down the cream concentration... I get that using milk would make it icy, but right now the texture feels like drinking fat from cooled beef broths. 2) educate your staff on espresso drinks. A cafe staffer should know what a dry cappuccino is, especially with an espresso machine so beautiful in the house. That said - 5 for everything else! Absolutely beautiful space :) The staff is probably getting used to all aspects of operation as it's new, and it's off to a great start. I especially appreciated that the management instructed workers to change coffee every so often (I overheard her say, "When you come in for your shift, taste the coffee to check its flavor. If it feels acidic, throw it away and make it new. Keep checking periodically"). They're onto delivering a Korean-level of service (read: impeccable) :) So looking forward to visiting often! The earl grey ice cream is so darn delicious!!! It's creamy and delicious with a strong, but not overpowering, taste of tea. I've been craving it ever since I had it Friday night. It's a 50 minute drive for me, but it is definitely worth it! Cocohodo reminds me of Caffe Bene in downtown, but bigger and better. I really like the ambiance and decor. The interior is really cute. Seems like a great place for a quick snack/drink, to hang out with friends, or to do school work (if you can work through the chatter of others) since there are plenty of seats. The worker that helped us was also very nice. He took his time to answer our questions and we greatly appreciated it. Tips: 1) They offer samples of the walnut pastry so you can try it before you buy it. They're made fresh in the morning so the sooner during the day you go, the less likely your sample will be cold. 2) If you want to see the liquid nitrogen magic in action then order sherbet. All of their liquid nitrogen ice cream is pre-made because of how long it would take to make the ice cream by order. Their sherbet can't be pre-made so if you want to see magic in action then you should order that. 3) If you get your ice cream to go then they pour some liquid nitrogen in the bag to keep the ice cream cold. I witnessed a customer walking out with their smoking bag and it made me very jealous. I think i'm going to have to order ice cream to go next time just to Instagram it! It's a good-sized restaurant with free Wi-Fi and plenty of spots with electrical outlets. It has an IKEA-like atmosphere. The folks that work there are very friendly and are ready to answer questions. My wife and daughter ordered the crepes. Daughter enjoyed her strawberry crepe. My wife also liked her Nutella crepe with banana. I had half of my wife's crepe later, and it was tasty. I ordered the Affogato, a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream with cappuccino poured over it. The drink costs $6.69, but I found a Yelp review from 4 months ago in a California Cocohodo that had the Affogato priced at a reasonable $3.50. What gives? We spent $21 for the three desserts.
