Improved on EVERYTHING Cococabana I personally it's night mare. By far is one of the worst nightclub there's no space. Too crowded there's no dance floor. And you can't stand by the bar they ask you to move. So. How are we supposed to buy drinks. Under my impression I thought is a night club but it is pretty obvious they will let in any body. As long you consume alcohol but once you're inside. They rob you they feel with more ice and not alcohol if I am pay for alcohol I should get alcohol not ice and colorful drinks. It's. A ripoff I will never recommend this place. To anyone. It's a total embarrassment. I paid for the person to sing. But it came out at the last minute and sang for a few minutes. The wings, fries, and customer service was awesome. The Boxing event was niceeeeee and there was plenty of free parking.

The food is not good and the security is not good. They pick on anyone that isn't a regular.

Saw Los Angeles Azules there. The band was super good, they sound really good live. The location: The drinks were weak, and overpriced (as expected). The bartenders all had different rules about serving water vs buying water, and the minimum required to spend before you could use your card - one told us $10, another $15. There was no re-entry allowed, so I couldn't change my shoes. It was really crowded and hot, the floor got really slippery and filthy and several people busted their butts falling down. The DJ replayed several songs. I love cumbia, but not the same songs within a couple hours. I don't know if I would return. read more

Went to see Chencho Corleone, first time visiting the business. Security was a little over the top. A lot of guys, all with vests. Once we got in the space is pretty big. Service was really good, bartender remembered my order the whole night, always went for the same thing. Got pretty packed once the show got going. read more

I came last night to watch Greeicy, she never showed up to perform! I was very disappointed since it was Valentine's Day and my wife was very excited to see her. I want a refund at the very least and an apology. I don't know what happened, but I saw a big van with an NYC license plate leave the area around 9 pm. It looked like it might have been her band leaving. I don't know if there was some dispute or problem between her, the band and the club. It is very sad for our great city and all the fans that were waiting in freezing cold temperatures on Valentines Day expecting to have a great time. I hope they make this right because so many great people got hurt and disappointed. read more

This place is very unorganized when it comes to VIP. There table set up is horrible. Literally had some scream at my mother on her birthday. We paid for two tables, not a table that fits 4 for 8 people not only did we have a table we had a table right in front of the speakers, how is that comfortable. A group of friends and I went to this place to support a music band from our birth country. We reserved a VIP spot, we paid for the table so there was no need for us to meet a minimum to hold our table. They ripped us off with $150 for a bottle of rum! (The bottle is $20 at any liquor store!) I would have been willing to pay $80 for the bottle, but $150? For a place like this, it is a complete rip off. We had ordered 2 and of course we paid for them, but if you are charging that amount for a bottle, at least the club should be better. There wasn't toilet paper in the ladies bathroom. It was gross!! We did enjoy the Nicaraguan Band (dimension costeña), which was the only reason why we went. Never again!!! read more

In ref to the prior reviews, Hyattsville/Langley Park are OFF THE CHAINS after dark in certain parts. I grew up there...I should know. Anyhoo...I'm giving this place 4 stars. Why? First I went during the day when the shooters and stabbers aren't there. And second for the red snapper, black beans, plaintain, rice and veg with water in a nice and heavy water glass. Attended a dinner banquet here - it was set up buffet style and the food was decent. Went to a party here afterwards - definately a diverse crowd of people - not exactly sure if that's a good thing, however, after we left - we heard that fights broke out and someone was stabbed. I've been to Coco Cabana Grill on three different occasions -all on Saturday nights to see different Haitian bands that were performing. The first time I went, the featured band didn't start playing until maybe 1:30 in the morning because of issues with the sound system. Mind you, this is my favorite Haitian band ever so I was NOT pleased. I didn't order anything at the bar so I didn't note anything about the food or drink quality or service. The second time I went, the sound system was working fine (thank goodness). I had a Long Island which was okay. It was too brown for my tastes but my brother paid for it so I couldn't complain. I'm not sure exactly how much it cost but it wasn't cheap. The third time I went (this weekend), there wasn't a great turn out for the event so I had the chance to experience more from Coco Cabana. My friends and I arrived early and sat in one of the tables on the side. A waitress/server came up to us and asked us if we wanted drinks. We were hungry so we requested menus to peruse their food items. The kitchen stays open until about 12:30 or 1am so that was definitely a bonus. We ordered an appetizer of yucca and fried pork to share. It wasn't the best but it was good enough that we ordered a second platter later on. Since the Haitian event was taking a while to gain momentum, we asked to go to the Latino nightclub next door. The waitress that was taking our orders led us through the connecting door where she had a brief discussion with the bouncer -- he seemed against the idea of letting us in. They left to go confirm with someone else that it was okay for us to come in (I assume) and then came back to seat us at a table. It was here that we decided to order the second plate of yucca and pork. I'm not sure what happened but there was conflict with us ordering appetizers from the two different sides of the establishment because both my friends ended up being charged double. The young ladies assisting us were nice but it took foreverrr to sort out the issue so that was a setback. The Latino nightclub was definitely a lot more live then the Haitian event so we stayed there for a bit before heading back over. The DJ played several songs of each genre and rotated so we got a chance to dance to everything. I got to practice all my Zumba moves on the dance floor including Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata. I don't know much about Latino music or nightclubs but it seemed okay to me. There was a drunk man that was trying to enter the Haitian side and one of the bouncers had to remove him forcibly. That caught me off guard but it didn't deter the evening. We went back to the Haitian side and halfway through the set, there was a slight issue with the sound system again. Eventually they got it together but we didn't stay much longer so I don't know for sure. All in all, I would only go back again simply because of the music. My advice to you? Pre-game at home if you're not a lightweight and only purchase from one side of the establishment. read more

Located in the Spanish ghetto, i was attending a convention party for a friend. An interesting night, one half latin music, one half hip-hop for out party. They roll out a free buffet at 2AM if you plan on staying that late. No stabbings broke out from what i saw, but there was a few scuffles. Overall if you value your life, let alone your belongings i wouldn't come here at 11 pm. read more

Music is good but.. during an event that we were charged $55 each at the entrance, the floor was messy and didnt let us enjoy it the best. Sticky floor and people have to kick empty cups and beer cans. a cleaning crew can fix this. First bartender girl was good but then they put a girl to serve drinks that didnt know where basic liquors like jack Daniels were and the garnish for other drinks. She also wanted to serve me just ice and coke as a jack and coke. I am a long time patron of this spot. Times being as they are this place is trying very hard to maintain this place and allow it to serve the public. The owners and staff have always been respectful and attentive to their clients, as far as I can see. I have attended special events here. I have celebrated birthdays and engagements here. Over the last 8-9 years since I have attended, Fridays, Saturdays and/or Sundays, I have seen very few scuffles inside the club or in the immediate parking lot. I feel secure parking and walking to the club. If I had one complaint, it would be the music rotation. However, I suppose that really depends on the expected clientele for the evening. For example, I do not expect salsa on nights specificaly geared Durengese or Cumbia. However, on International Nights I do expect an equitable rotation of excellent Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Reggae & Reggaton, etc. The drinks are a bit pricey but reflect the norm for the DC area. I always come back and I strongly recommend the place for groups and events. I am amazed at how beautifully decorated the place is for receptions. read more

I attended this spot on 18 January 2014. What is interesting about this location is there are actually 3 clubs within the parking area. Galaxy is literally next door which has a huge dance floor. Cococabana Grill has some good food and the prices are not high which makes this even more appealing. This club is huge when there are special events because they open up the walls. Otherwise, Galaxy is bigger. There are tables all around the dance floor which is nice because you can watch the crowd dance. Nice size dance floor and the Dee Jay is in the open. There is a second floor which is small and no big deal. I like the big televisions showing the music videos all around the place. Bathroom is nice and spacious. Nice size bar with good drinks. The music is good and mixed with all the latin flavors, including some house and club. Saturday night is the better night to attend, while Fridays are not bad, you just might not have as many people. Ladies are free Friday until 12am. Saturday is $15.00 for ladies, unless your on the guest list or have a pass. You can always call and find out what is going on. The crowd is mixed with more latinos from Central America. I was happy that this place was an actual club and not a basement, which a lot of the places in Washington, D.C. tend to be in basements for the latin spots. read more

This place is a hidden jewel of Hyattsville. The Gigo de Poulet (chicken stuffed with veal) is excellent and never dissapoints. I have not found it anywhere else in the D.C. area. The tender and flavorful salmon a la grilla and the crabcake imperial are also good. The salads, like the ensalada fresca was fresh and filling. The menu is diverse with something for everyone. See the website if in doubt. Also, the decor is nice... white linen, quality sivlerware and glassware. This is not your run of the mill, central american pit stop for picking up your pollo asado and yuca on the way home. I considered having my wedding rehearsal dinner at this location. The atmosphere around lunch time, when I usually go, is pleasant and quiet. It picks up around dinner time and Friday and Saturday nights after 10 PM is when the dance floor opens up and it gets wild and crowded. I haven't been there during those times, but how many people eat dinner after 10 PM anyway. Despite this being a jewel, the lunch crowd is surprisingly light. This is most likely because the place has earned a reputation due to its wild Friday and Saturday nights. Restaurant.com has coupons you can use which I use on occasion although the prices are good even without them. My husband and I love this place. We have gone here a few times for dinner and love it every time. The Food is Absolutely Delicious, and when we have guests in from out of town we take them here. Cococobana is a good joint i went to when i was in the area for lunch. they got a Latino night club there also.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I went there during the day to eat. Very poor customer service, the waitress was unprofessional, not polite at all. Food was not the best, took a very long time to come out. I ordered a ceviche and a simple Caesar salad with no croutons. The ceviche didn't smell fresh, the presentation was poor, very large vegetables. My salad came with croutons and the lettuce was dry, looked old actually. My whole experience sucked. Also, I went there another day for a concert, the staff including the manager were very rude to the people and myself. People were requesting to speak to the manager due to an misunderstanding and she wouldn't come out. She wouldn't speak and she rather ignored the whole situation. I will never go back there, even if I'm invited by someone, even if it's free, even if my favorite artist is there. Its not worth it. These people and the business don't deserve my money. read more
