Happy hour menu

***This review is for the lobby bar! Located inside "The Hotel" in College Park. This hotel has become popular for events, including conferences and weddings. Nice ambience, but horrible service! Three years in row, one of my UMD alumni organizations has hosted a happy hour here during homecoming weekend. Every time, the service has been horrendous, but I think it's gotten worse. This past weekend it was so bad that several folks left to go other places to get drinks, including myself. There were several bartenders yet patrons were waiting up to 30 minutes (or longer) to place drink orders. It's not like these drinks are cheap anyway. Overpriced and from what I heard from others, not even good! The attitudes of the employees - also horrible :( In the service industry, a smile would help! I really hate leaving a bad review, but I have to be honest and I think it has to be brought to their attention. Please train your staff or hire qualified, friendly bartenders. I can't recommend coming here for happy hour or anything really.

This is a lobby bar. It is a bar in the lobby. Decent place to watch a game if you're staying at the hotel.

It's in the middle of summer so it wasn't as crowded as it usually would be during the school year. The bouncer scanned my ID and told me "happy birthday" which was so nice (I love birthday wishes so )! I ordered my regular green tea shot and the server let me know that since it was my birthday, I get a free shot...sign me up! Although it was just vodka and pineapple juice, I was extremely grateful. The only reason it doesn't recieve all five start was because the walls were open and it make the air hot, thick, and sweaty, not the vibe for my birthday fit. But nonetheless, one of my favs & I will be back.

Like definitely questions we could answer, the recall is the hardest part ESPECIALLY after having an orange crush. There was about 15 teams that participated and you have to get there early. We ordered a bunch of apps and entrees. I enjoyed my buffalo chicken dip and the fries are gas. It was so good. But I wasn't a fan of my jerk chicken tenders. I ordered an orange crush which was also really good. Service was cool. The girl check on our table constantly to make sure we were good. For parking to save our coins and time, we parked on UMDs campus and walked along the trail to the pub which only took 7-10 mins and UMD parking is free after 4pm. Honestly my coworkers and I would definitely come back again for happy hour or trivia. It's a vibe.

While attending a conference in College Park, some colleagues and I looked for a 'traditional…read morecollege bar/restaurant' for a quick lunch before our meetings began. With a couple of vegetarians, some picky eaters and a wide variety of tastebuds, there weren't many options but we landed on R J Bentley's. And it was fine. We chose the restaurant because it was featured on the Big Ten Network once for Campus Eats at the University of Maryland. Honestly the food was unremarkable but good enough for lunch. The vegetarians had salads that were 'ok' there was a burger choice, some fried pickles, a crab dip and a giant crab covered pretzel. I had the nachos with chili as a main entree. It was pretty good, but the chili was a bit sweet for a nacho covering. The pretzel stole the show for me, and I fully admit to loving it. The atmosphere was exactly as expected - college bar casual. It was nice to see that, and our server was a current student. He was fantastic (Hi Cole) we enjoyed chatting with him and learning about the area, the university and his studies. He probably wanted us to leave him alone but it wasn't crowded so we just enjoyed chatting with him. He did a great job as a server and ambassador for the U. Three stars feels about right. If I was there at night for a full college bar experience I'm betting the place would make it up to four stars, but for lunch I think 3 is right on the mark.

JCK has been on my list for a while to try; glad I finally stopped through for happy hour on a…read moreFriday. Their HH runs Mon-Fri from 5-7 and include 5-7 cocktails, beer, and wine that they offer at $2ish off the regular price. We stuck with the cocktails and had their Blue Lagoons (which are essentially electric blue vodka lemonades) for $8ish. They were tasty and after 2 of them, we were definitely ready to party. Next time, I want to try the rum punch for $10 - though I noticed the rum punch was premade (vs being made fresh per order). Unfortunately, there are no food offers on the happy hour. The spot was very empty when we arrived, maybe around 5.30p - there was one other couple enjoying time at the bar. Outside of the 8-10 bar seats, they have some lounge level seating, as well as more standard 4-top tables. At the very front of the area, is a small stage where DJ's and karaoke specialists set up. The food was really good; I had the curry chicken plate for $16ish and my girlfriend had the shrimp rasta pasta for $19ish. The food was very flavorful and came out piping hot from the kitchen. I'd get the curry again, for sure. The environment and vibe was the most enjoyable part of my visit; the hip hop and top40's music gave the place a great energy (but wasn't so loud that you couldn't chat. The bartenders were energetic, lively, and friendly. There seemed to be alot of regular patrons who knew each other and the bartenders - that's a really good sign. The star of the show was karaoke which started around 8 (when the bar was getting much more crowded). The karaoke host was great; she kept the group energized and led some karaoke style games and activities that I hadn't seen before. We ended up stay out way longer than expected because we were having such a nice time. I look forward to my next happy hour at JCK. Pro tip: It looks like they have coordinated, promoted parties twice a month on Fridays. And on the other Fridays, they have the 'standard' karaoke nights. Check their IG for the official, promoted parties.

I am no stranger to them, having seen their truck at Savor Bowie almost every single time I've gone. And I've driven by their brick-and-mortar multiple times, but never stopped. This one crossed my radar when my friend invited me to a soca party, and I was like "JCK Bar & Lounge? In Hyattsville? How have I never heard of that?" And now it all makes sense -- some time last year, Jamaican Country Kitchen expanded, and now they've got this place, DJ booth, dance floor, bar, lounge, restaurant, all in one. And I gotta say, it was a vibe. The staff was nice and I loved the decor and feel of the place. Bar was cozy and it was nice to be somewhere this late at night that still served authentic Caribbean food. They have happy hour, so I am going to have to return and get a deep dive on how they feel on a regular weekday after work. And I gotta see how their food compares to my other favorites nowadays!

Luckily, it more than fit the bill. The atmosphere is definitely more like any other bar you'd go to rather than a hotel bar. A good L-shaped bar with plenty of seats, lots of tables of varying size and height. And plenty of TVs with a variety of games (in this case, college basketball, hockey, NBA). The food menu I believe had just been redone and was imaginative. The Cuban sandwich was a hit (outstanding bread, good size, plenty of meat, I could only eat half), as was the crab cake balls appetizer (worthy of the Maryland crab expectation). Seeing the other food that came out, nobody seemed disappointed. The portions per price wasn't the best, but it certainly was palatable (no pun intended). I might have wanted a few more evenings to sample the fare. The diversity of drinks was a plus, and a minus. They had a number of local bottles and taps, but seemed to be out of a few of them (or they were doing the "dreaded" keg change that rendered them foamy). Seems like a little bit better management here might help (it could very well be I just caught them on a few bad nights). Bartenders were very attentive and the service was quick. Most of the patrons were travelers, many by themselves so there were a lot making conversation for those who were solo. Would I make a special trip to this bar if I were in the area? Probably not. It would be a great place to meet friends after work and it was definitely a plus for someone like me without many travel options.

I think they are understaffed both times I have been there the server will come once or twice then disappear to the point that we have to ask other staff for items as in condiments, napkins, utensils. My sister ordered a cocktail drink and did not receive her drink until after we completed our meal. You can tell that the server was trying his best, but it definitely seemed like he was trying to manage too many tables at once. The food in my opinion the starters are better than the entrees they are good and flavorful something the main entrées lack. And the presentation is like they just threw the food on the plate. I believe for 18% gratuity I feel like the establishment can care more about customer satisfied and presentation. Maybe I just went on bad days but my overall experience for this place is 6/10 it definitely has space for improvement.

She consistently checked in and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. At one point we had ordered drinks and were still waiting for them, and she noticed before we even had to say anything. She immediately let us know she would check with the bar to see what was going on and made sure we received them shortly after. That level of attentiveness really stood out--many servers don't take that extra step. Despite how busy the restaurant was, she did an excellent job balancing our table along with all of her others. In high-volume places like this, service can sometimes slip when servers are stretched thin, but Ivoree completely broke that stereotype. She truly went above and beyond. Thank you, Ivoree, for the excellent service and for making our visit such a great experience. We truly appreciate it and are definitely looking forward to coming back many more times. Y'all better ask for Ivoree next time y'all come here and that's on my mamaaaa
