In fact, the building itself is actually pretty damn small for a strip club. Only pointing this out because Magic City Kitchen is just a to-go counter inside Magic City itself. Since I came in the afternoon when Magic City just opened, I walked in for free with no cover. Anyways, ordered some Justice Magic wings and fries. They're not the biggest wings, but they pack quite the flavor punch. I can see why they are revered by so many people! And despite only technically ordering 10 wings, I definitely got like around 15. Also, despite being way out of place here (i.e., the only Asian in the building), everyone treated me really nice. Never felt I was not welcome at all while I was eating my food at the bar. On top of those extra wings, the cook gave me a free baked wing to try as well. I guess Southern hospitality even extends to the strip club! I'm not sure I would go out of my way again to eat these wings in-house, but it was definitely a cool experience to check it out. At the very minimum, it's worth a takeout order.

Today I got a single salmon cake and a scoop of scrambled eggs with cheese for $11. I was going to add a pancake but $14 for a small breakfast when she makes up the prices as she goes AND has the prices taped off on the menu so they can't be held accountable.....is a no for me. I also don't like that when we go order from there she asks us a bunch of "add-on" questions. Like if we ask for the hungry man breakfast she asks us do we want items but included in that meal and by the time you're done ordering you've accidentally added $5 more dollars of food and you didn't even realize it. Seating took about 10 minutes, and we were able to appreciate the beauty and history of the building while waiting. We started with appetizers, and our waiter assured us that everything was wonderful. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same experience. The fried green tomatoes had very little flavor outside of the sauce. I also ordered the collard green dip, which was described as having cream cheese as one of the main ingredients. The dip lacked flavor and was honestly not good. We waited at least an hour for our entrees, and when they finally arrived, the food was cold. The items we enjoyed were the candied yams, fried chicken, and catfish. The greens had good flavor but were also served cold. I ordered an extra piece of cornbread that never came out. When I mentioned it to the waiter, she seemed confused. To make matters worse, I was charged $2 for bread that I never ordered. My mom was also charged for a side that she did not order. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't limited to our table. The table next to us had a child who was served a raw chicken tender and was only offered a free dessert as compensation. Overall, the atmosphere and historic building were nice, but the food, service, wait time, and billing issues made for a very disappointing experience. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience.
