I had a great experience at The Original Big Daddy's Dish, and I want to give a special shout-out…read moreto Sydney. When I walked in, the restaurant was busy, and it was obvious they had a lot of orders to handle. Even with all that was going on, Sydney greeted me with a warm smile, made eye contact, asked how my day was going, and made me feel like a valued customer. She was friendly, engaging, and never seemed overwhelmed despite leading the team and keeping everything running smoothly. That's the kind of customer service that leaves a lasting impression. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and I can definitely see why this place stays busy. Great food is one thing, but outstanding employees like Sydney are what keep people coming back. Keep up the great work!

I usually have a phenomenal experience at big daddy's but not this time, yesterday, May 24, 2026…read more First of all, I placed a to go order so I didn't have to stand in line with the 50+ people for 45 minutes to an hour. However, when I arrived, past the order completion time, I had to wait another 20 minutes for my order. Secondly, the lima beans were way overcooked and mushy. Extremely disappointing considering I love lima beans and ordered an extra 8 oz serving. Complete waste of money and not up to par at all.. In addition, the delicious cornbread dressing had a ton of small chicken bones in it. Definitely not something that I was expect or look forward to in dressing. Very disappointing. Furthermore, I will never understand why they allow homeless people to sit at each door entry and back. One page from told them that they needed to remove them from the front doors because it was not a good look for their business and that big daddy would not be happy about it, nothing was done. On the positive side, the collard greens, broccoli rice casserole, cabbage, squash medley and baked chicken were good. Overall, this was not a great experience and I will think twice before coming back to this location. However, if you ever want to try it out, I strongly recommend ordering online and setting your pick up time for 15 minutes earlier than when you plan to arrive. That way, your order will be ready or close to ready when you arrive. And do not order the overcooked, mushy lima beans and pray that the cornbread dressing does not have a ton of small chicken bones in it, even though it is really good - you might crack a tooth o

You get a lot of food for the money, we tried the fried catfish plates, for sides we had candied yams, macaroni, collard greens, fried cabbage, and potato salad. We tried hush puppies and cornbread, and banana pudding for dessert. The fried catfish portion is generous and seasoned well, we had ours with tartar sauce and hot sauce. It was extremely fresh and piping hot. The sides were all great and I look forward to trying more, the collards and potato salad were our favorites! The banana pudding is sweet and they use some sort of cake type dessert instead of vanilla wafers, it's very good! Service is great, it was our first time and we were a little lost. They have a cashier and an ordering kiosk, plenty of room and nice tables to dine in which I appreciate. Staff was friendly! Can't wait to try more of their meals!

Talk about good southern BBQ, fair prices, good atmosphere, and EXTREMELY great customer service. Don't even worry about going up to get your food when they call your name, once they see you acknowledge them they bring it to you with a smile and they lay it all out for you. SUPERB. I had the Catfish Nuggets senior combo w/ Potato Salad and the Black Eyes Peas on rice. SO DARN GOOD! I tried my colleagues brisket and the flavor was smokey and delicious. The portions are more than fair, believe me you will probably end up taking stuff to-go unless you have an army of hungry folks with you. Thank you so much for the amazing Customer Service to the Ray's Southern Foods team. You absolutely delivered on all aspects and you earned my five star rating.

We parked behind the building and a woman who worked there had the door open. She had on a shirt that read Legalize being Black. My husband had on a Black Lives Matter shirt, & I had on a Juneteenth shirt. She smiled and raised her fist at us as we asked to enter through the door and we responded in kind. I love us! She toke U.S. to grab a menu as we walked in to the right of the bar. We found a high top and found what we wanted and went to the counter to order. The prices are reasonable until you get to adding the sides. I overheard another worker tell a couple who ordered after us to order the veggie plate if they were getting 4 sides as it was cheaper. I wish the person who took our order had told use that. The entrees are à la carte and priced reasonably. The sides are $5 each with a few exceptions, a hoecake is $2 and mac & cheese and a couple other sides are $6. Keep that in mind when you come. Our total for our inside dining with a can of ginger ale, fountain Diet Coke, & tip was like $70+ & the to go order for our son's meal w/o a drink was ~$30. It's definitely a good value if you only need an entree and have sides already. The food is good and has large pieces of meat & decent portions so there you go... I ordered the fried green tomatoes as a starter, smoked beef brisket with the barbecue sauce on the side, smoked turkey cabbage, dressing, & the lemon pound cake. Ironically, the fried green tomatoes came out last. They were piping hot though. They could've used a dash of salt but that cornmeal batter was perfection on the tomatoes. You get 3 and 1 was cut a little too thick and it was slightly mushy maybe cause it had to cook longer? But it was still good. The beef brisket was good. It's sliced thin and had that good smoke flavor and was seasoned well. The thicker slices could've been a bit more tender but overall it could rival some barbecue joints. The dressing was good and so was the cabbage, though it was almost tad bit saltier than I'd like. I'd order everything I had again. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed my food. You know not everyone who claims to cook southern food can do so. Oh the pound cake was good and moist. It reminds me of Sammy Chhesecake pound cake. My husband ordered the 3 pieces of fried chicken, collard greens & they do have a lil kick as the menu suggests, green beans, & yellow rice. He was pleasantly surprised with how big the pieces of chicken were. Nowadays people give you what looks like pigeon parts ‍. He said it was a tad salty. He said he also enjoyed his meal otherwise. I forgot to get pictures of the food for our son's takeout order of fried pork chops, collard greens, mac & cheese, & a hoecake. He liked his food as well but also said his pork chops, which were nice size center cut, were well seasoned, but a little too much. He enjoyed the meal and his 1st hoecake. They also do catering and seemed to have a large catering order being prepared to go out. The restaurant & woman's restroom was clean. The staff were friendly and quickly acknowledged us. The music was good but it would've been good to hear a mix of old school with the hip hop since it was Juneteenth. They have a full bar. The only thing I didn't like was Fox News & another conservative news channel on; at least not on JuneteenthZ a generic movie or TV show would've been better for me anyway. They had a steady stream of to go orders and in person dining. I guess we're just late to know about

Very welcoming and attentive from the moment we walked in. The soul food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the fried okra, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, sweet potatoes, and greens, and every single thing was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The sweet potatoes and greens tasted like pure comfort food on a plate. The music was a little on the louder side, but it also gave the restaurant a fun, lively atmosphere. Overall, definitely a spot worth visiting if you want flavorful soul food and great hospitality.

I hadn't been in a couple of years but decided to go back because of the amazing food that I had previously experienced as a consistent customer over the years. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed when I ordered my usual and the food tastes nothing like the delicious food that I was used to experiencing at this location. The lack of flavor and quality that I had been used to experiencing was completely gone. The food tastes like it comes right out of the can onto the to-go containers. The turkey wings taste like they had no seasoning or flavor but as if they emptied out a can of cream of mushroom on top of the turkey wings. I could not finish the meal because it was nothing like remembered. Alongside the wasting of money and time that was taken to drive to this location, it was an overall disappointment. I used to recommend this location to friends who would come in town for some of the best soul food in Atlanta, but I honestly wouldn't be able to do that now because of the lack thereof. I'm not sure if they change cooks or what, but I'm highly disappointed. Pretty much they have a table blocking the door and a couple of chairs sitting outside of the establishment , or you have to wait in your car for your food. Unfortunately, Annie Laura's kitchen has gone down horribly. As a customer from the beginning before they moved to the second location.. I wouldn't recommend them anymore to anyone.

This review is solely on the inaccuracy of the posted hours. On their Instagram it says they are open on Tuesday, but I went and they were closed. On their door the hours are wrong, Apple Maps and yelp says they are only open on Wednesday. I messaged them on Instagram and they didn't reply and I drove 20 minutes just to find out that they were closed for the day. But when I looked inside, it looked like they haven't been there in a little bit. I was just confused. I was really looking forward to trying the food here and I love watching candy over real housewives of Atlanta so I was stoked to finally be able to come. The hours need to be consistent and posted across the board so people aren't confused and they'll just solve the problem right there. Also, when I called the phone number, no one answered. Basically what I'm saying is I went through several avenues to confirm I was able to come in and maybe if I need to come a different day and I couldn't even get that.

My client bought me food as a thank you for getting us to closing and being a great realtor to her! ;-) However, I went back on my own accord a week later because I wanted oxtails. My plate was nice and hefty, and my food was great! On a scale of 1-10, my food and this place is a 10. Both times, my oxtails are always tender and flavorful, my rice was fluffy and not mucky or soft, my macaroni tasted like macaroni, and my yams were sweet just like the amazing cornbread muffin! The steamed okra was perfect! Not mushy or too stringy. Now when I went to visit a week later after my plate was delivered to me, the place is not a sit down type of establishment. It's small and has seating for waiting, and if it's packed, it's not much room for that. But they get you in and out fairly quickly. You'll stand in line and order at the restaurant, and they'll make your plate in the order your ticket falls in line with when you placed the order. It appears everyone there is Jamaican since they have Jamaican items on the menu along with soul food and the ladies in the restaurant have accents. I loved it! I got free banana bread as I waited and the rest of us did as well. My oxtail plate is about average with others around $33 with tax. Would I be back, you be it! I have to get the Turkey wings, chicken wings, and baked chicken!
