We stopped by on a weekday morning, and it was completely empty. The pastry/baked goods cases also looked fairly meager. We got a crookie (croissant with a cookie baked on top of it) and rhubarb raspberry scone. The crookie was delicious and innovative but very, very oily. The rhubarb raspberry scone didn't taste like rhubarb or raspberry and tasted one dimensional - sweet. We won't be back unfortunately, since the baked goods did not impress us at all. Plenty of seating inside.

Located in the heights, at the intersection of Congress st and Central Ave, had this place in my bucket list for a while! The ambiance is good and the service is good, the barista was pretty responsive which I liked. Coming to the food, I ordered signature hot chocolate and quiche. The signature hot chocolate seems to be made from dark chocolate, it was a bit bitter than expected and overall it felt okay whereas the quiche was creamy but the quantity seemed less compared to the cost they charged. Overall, they have some good pastry options but it's on the expensive side. Definitely worth a try once!

On International Women's Day, I wanted to write a quick review in honor of an amazing pastry chef and female-owned business. Jessica Isaacs worked as the pastry chef of Michelin-starred Nobu before opening Cocoa Bakery in 2019, my favorite sweet shop in Jersey City! The location is conveniently located at the South West corner of Congress St and Central Ave. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I've typically seen 2 employees at a time. It's quiet and smells like all the delicious sweets you can think of. Cocoa Bakery provides a cozy spot for a sweet afternoon snack. I have come a handful of times to try out their cupcakes and cookies, but this time I'm excited to talk about their pies. The chocolate peanut butter pie is salty and covered in a think chocolate ganache. The slice was decorated with some candied peanuts and had a creamy peanut butter filling. The crust is a cookie consistency and think which holds up well against this hefty and luscious chocolate ganache layer. This pie is a meal in itself. I also tried their key lime pie which had just the right amount of sourness. Similar to the chocolate peanut butter pie, the crust was not dainty and it held its own against the pie. I believe it has to be made with ginger snap cookies, which make add a unique touch to the pie. The texture of the key lime was smooth and thick. It gave a little jiggle when you moved it and wasn't soupy when you dug in with your fork. The lime and ginger combo is something that I will return for! In honor of Women's History Month, please get out there and support this woman owned operation! Whatever you end up choosing, you will not regret your choice, and I can promise that you will be back!

I've ordered many times from cocoa bakery via Grubhub in the past few years. Tho Im not a big cupcake fan but whenever I want cupcake, I only order from Cocoa! Their cupcakes are the best one I've ever had! Highly recommend the chocolate and red velvet cupcakes.

I'm used to going to the original Cocoa Bakery location on Grand St but when in the Heights, why not stop by at the flagship? The shop is nice and airy with lots of sunlight and you just feel awesome and happy walking in through the doors. You may even get a chance to say hi to Jessica who is honestly one of the nicest and friendliest people ever. My takeaways from my jaunt into the Heights were a slice of Oreo cake, pull-apart monkey bread, and a slice of peanut butter chocolate pie. I've always loved Cocoa Bakery and every visit reconfirms it! :)

Such a cute little spot! Popped in with my boyfriend for a sweet treat and got their cake balls and some coffees. The coffees were good and the cake balls - especially my boyfriends salted caramel flavor, were so good and just what we were looking for after a long walk! Would definitely come back!

Extremely disappointed. Over priced for products that are not up to par. Also they don't do a great job following up. A slice of hazel nut/ raspberry cake was too dense and dry. Cookies were kept in a freezer so I have to think they are not fresh. Finally wanted to order the 6" lemon/ raspberry cake for tomorrow and the girl at the counter said they were busy in the back and could not take my order. She asked I leave my name and number so someone could call me later to place the order. 24hrs later I'm still waiting for the call. Kind of glad I didn't place the order because to get a 6 inch $50 frozen cake, I would rather get a fresh, moist delicious cake from ShopRite.

We were received with smiles, the staff attended us kindly. And as a first time customer they were so helpful to recommend a drink. I enjoyed itS I'll definitely be back.

I ordered my 30th birthday cake from Cocoa Bakery and they were an absolute pleasure to work with from beginning to end. I custom ordered the design and flavors and not only was the cake beautiful, but it was delicious as well. The service was incredible (both via email, phone, and in-person), and the bakery itself is super cute.

Small iced latte w/almond milk, yumm

Ordered delivery from here today as dessert after our lunch lol. Delivery arrived early and everything was perfect!! Ordered a small iced latte with almond milk, almond biscotti, pecan caramel bar, cinnamon crumb cake truffle, and a red velvet cupcake. The small iced latte with almond milk is very creamy and it was good. Not bad for $3.75!! The almond biscotti was a pleasant surprise. Great almond flavor, chopped almond throughout the cookie and perfect crunch! Flavor was enhanced when we dipped it in our latte!! Perfect!!! So worth $1.80!! The pecan caramel bar was the perfect size and very sweet. It's perfect to share. $3.60 seems a little high for it but it's probably because of the pecans. Nuts cost a lot. Tastes like pecan pie in a bar form. Chewy. The cinnamon crumb cake truffle was yummy! The cake part inside was a bit doughy. The chocolate coating was a nice addition. The cinnamon crumb it was rolled in was so good! Best parts of a cinnamon roll cake shaped into a ball! $3.30 seems fair. The red velvet cupcake was soft and fresh. The icing was a bit too oily or buttery I guess. But so delicious!! Totally worth $3 though. We will definitely be ordering from here again!! Excellent!

The coffee here is really solid! There were so many sweets and pastries to choose from but I only tried the cupcakes and a variety of different cake truffles! The truffles were really fun. Some were better than others but I really liked the two chocolate truffles that I got. I tried the red velvet cupcake as well and it was so delicious! The cake was so moist and the frosting was rich but not too sweet. The cafe is pretty new to Central Ave. and is such a great addition to the up and coming neighborhood! The store has large windows that allow for ample sunlight to come through. There are also a lot tables inside which makes this a good spot for studying or for catching up with friends! The staff is friendly and prices are more than reasonable, would recommend!

So excited to finally have Coco Bakery open in the heights. Very relaxing space, especially the tables in the back. I tried the strawberry cupcake which was fantastic, fresh, and the portion size was perfect. Cupcakes these days are too big and sugary. Coco cupcakes are the perfect size that have you thinking "why dont I eat more cupcakes" and not "ugh, I shouldn't have eaten that cupcake". I want to live in a world where I ask myself the first question more :)

Two Cardamoms very moist & tasty with a hint of bergamot. I may be wrong but the taste is very exotic w/ out loads of sugar like most bakeries. I'm diabetic so that's important to me. The other (2) were the Brown sugar & Walnut, again very tasty & the cinnamon bun. All yummy but we all have our preferences. Barista was kind enough to make the tiramisu drink with matcha for me. The mascarpone cream was yum but the matcha taste was not really there, it was way better with coffee. Prices are on the higher side, but we kept it simple with a couple of iced lattes and a margherita pizza. The coffee was honestly amazing, definitely the highlight. The pizza was pretty good as well, though smaller than expected and a bit delicate to eat (the cheese slides off easily), so it's best enjoyed with a fork and knife. Seating is a bit tight and can feel a little cramped at times, but it wasn't a big issue for us.
