I've been to Coco Spa for both the full body and foot massages and the masseuses for both knew what they were doing. The massages are more deep-tissue, traditional Chinese tui-na massages, as opposed to Swedish massages, but they definitely get out any knots and pains you have. The prices also cannot be beat at $30 / hr for a full body massage and $20 / hr for a foot and lower leg massage. Generally, it seems like the masseuses are looking for a $10 tip but, even so, Coco Spa provides the best massage for one of the lowest prices I've seen in the area. They also take walk-ins without any issues. I took off one star because the décor and amenities are minimal (they have a TV in the main area where foot massages are done with Chinese TV shows playing) and, in the full body massage area, you can easily hear everything going on around you since areas are separated by curtains. If you are looking for a luxurious European spa experience with lots of extra amenities, this is not the place for you. BUT if you are just looking for a darn good deep-tissue massage at a simple and clean place for an excellent price, I would highly recommend Coco Spa. read more

Without Yelp, I would have completely missed this place. The exterior is a bit sketchy, but once you're inside, you know this place is legit and super clean. I don't have a set schedule so I walked in at 11am on a Thursday. I wanted to see what their base line service was, so I went for the $30 body work for an hour. I was set up with Skye. My upper and lower back were killing me, but I just smiled at him and didn't say much else. Remember, I was out to judge the base line service. I cannot tell you how pleasant surprised I was. It started off the same compared to similar massage places, but once he really got to work, OMG. Skye really went after every knot and strained muscle. I will say the full body massage really focused on the back, and the pressure was super strong, which I prefer. I was even more surprised when he focused on my lower back, even bringing out some hot stone action. Not sure if that's actually part of the 30min massage or if my lower back was just that much of a hot mess. In any case, I will be going back. I was between visits and had some time. Just completed a visit with a long time friend and was en-route to meet another friend for lunch when I decided I needed a massage. I was overdue for a really good massage by my therapist in Freehold, but thought since I'm in Flushing I'll see if I can find a good spa and great masseuse. Looks like I found both. Spa is located downstairs from street level. Seems they do a pretty good business, given the size of the staff. I opted for a 90 minute massage at a cost of $45. I think was the first customer of the day. I drew Amy and as she did a good job, I feel fortunate to have had her since it was my first massage at Coco Spa. The spa is nice, incredibly clean and well organized. The room I was in had a curtain for a door and the walls did not go all the way to the ceiling. The room was small, barely enough room for the massage table. My feet touched the back wall. With so little room to maneuver, Amy spent most of the time on my back and neck. Which is fine. She asks where it hurt and I told her back and neck. Massage was strong, vigorous, and deep pressure focusing on pressure points. She used her thumbs quite a bit which was nice. She never seemed to tire, and just kept going and going and going. In fact the massage was so good, 60 minutes would have been plenty. I was tired at the 60 minute mark. 5 stars for Amy and her massage. 4 stars for the spa. Good clean well organized and professionally managed spa but tiny therapy room. This place is located in the basement and the entrance area is pretty sketch. You enter through these thick walk-in freezer strip curtains, practically walking into everyone getting their foot massages, to get to the receptionist. We went on a Monday around 2pm and there was no wait. The receptionist was friendly (+1), and allowed us to choose the gender of our masseuse. I preferred a female, my friend opted for a male. I would not recommend a male masseuse if you are uncomfortable with having to remove your underwear and having your bottom massaged. There's a huge language barrier since they don't speak much English. They walked us over to the massage area in the back which was pretty off-putting with strange stains, evident of a leak or something, on the walls (-1). The rooms were barely private, just separated by a curtain. We got the 60min body massage. Price was cheap, only $35 (+1), however I'm sure it's not difficult to find a better place with similar prices. My masseuse lacked experience...There wasn't much variety in her back rub techniques and she kept abrasively rubbing the same exact area repeatedly with the same technique for what felt like forever, to the point that I felt an uncomfortable burning sensation (-1). The entire time, the back door to this place kept opening and closing loudly, which was very annoying. The workers kept having conversations to one another - sometimes loudly and sometimes whispering, which was very unprofessional and took away from the relaxation (-1). After reading the previous Yelp reviews, I expected Coco Spa to be a shady hole in the wall. Me and my girl friend got a massage together. I am pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised. Although it is a bit sketchy to walk downstairs, it is a very modern facility on the inside. The staff at the front desk was every courteous. It was also a major plus that they spoke English and they asked if we preferred a male or female masseus. The hour long full body massage was incredible. All within an hour we received deep tissue massage along our back and neck, scalp massage, facial massage, hot stone massage, and leg massage. I have really enjoyed the massages here and I agree with other reviewers that the massage includes more than most massages for this price (scalp, hot stone, etc). I will say that I didn't find the place to be as relaxing as I was expecting. The back room where they do body massage wasn't particularly loud, but when they're busy, the door is opened every 5 minutes or so, so you would hear the TV and loud conversations from the front room where they do foot massage. My masseur kept going to close the door but she had to do this at least 5 times. Slower times were quieter. The first time I went around 5:30pm, which may be peak time, so I was told I'd have to wait about 40 minutes so I came back after about 35 minutes. I then had to wait another 20 minutes. Not the end of the world, but now I know to allow more time or try an off-peak time. Since then, I've gone later in the evening and there wasn't much, if any wait. read more

The best priced massage you can get in NY! One hour of whole body massage is only $30 and an hour foot massage is $20. They have a timer that's placed underneath your massage table so you can see that it's exactly one hour. They use oil and hot stones. My masseuse helped me work out all the knots in my shoulders, which was a bit painful but in the end, extremely satisfying. FYI, for whole body massage, you strip down to just your underwear and lay down at the table head down. No need to take off your socks if you have them on because they don't touch your feet really. read more

I had been to the old establishment and was pleasantly surprised with the new location given it's located in the basement. The interior is freshly updated and the furniture looks new. The foot massage started with a quick dip in warm water with light blue anti-bacterial solution. The masseuse worked on my calf, joints, foot and even toes (felt really good). It ended with both feet wrapped in a hot towel to soothe and clean the skin from the massage lotion. The only con is the staff speaks little English. But they understand the basics such as "harder" or "softer". The 'tipping' situation is definitely unconventional, but 1hr of good massage for $30 with tip included is still a good deal in my book. read more

Massage was great enjoyed it but while laying down I start smelling strong smell of cigarette smoke 10 min into the massage. I personally hate cigarette smoke and it's the last thing I want to smell as I'm trying to relax. And cheap! You can get fully undressed (I kept on my underwear) and they put a towel over you. Now this isn't the "I'm just gonna touch you softly and kinda massage you" place, they really get those knots and will make it hurt.. But of course you can tell them to be gentler. I actually came in here today to have my monthly massage.. I do it twice a month sometimes if I have an extra day off. I travel all the way from weschester just to be here. This place is amazing! Cheap price for a quality service. I usually request linda because by far she was the best masseuse I've tried and she speaks english. As for the place, don't expect too much but its clean and the ambience is okay, they play classical music to give you that relaxing feeling. Service is quite nice and they really know what they are doing. I think the only downside is I think some of them don't speak english. I've never been pressured into leaving a tip for a certain amount nor has it's been suggested. Wow worse scam place ever. Not sure how Yelp has led me astray. Lady at front desk charged me 30 percent tip and tried to keep haggling me to tip more! I refused and she charged my card anyway with the amount of tip she wanted. I was so shocked that I just ran out of there but I am going to dispute it on my credit card. Beware this place for sure. The lady was lucky I even offered a 20 percent tip for one of the most painful ( not in a good way) massages I have ever received. Completely unprofessional behavior and unethical. Usually you give the tip directly to the masseuse, not have it prerequired and charged on the card. The woman at the front desk was literally haggling and coercing me!!!!! It was hot and stuffy in the rooms and the towels on the bed didn't look too clean. It even have a bad odor to it.
