The prices here are pretty good: $20 for a foot massage, $30 for a body massage. The massage was mediocre - you get what you pay for. Upon entering, you'll see tons of people looking at you because they set up the foot massage area right at the door and there are people getting their massages while watching others come in. The place doesn't resemble anything like a spa.. it's a dimly light basement with many rooms. My biggest complaint would be that my masseuse was finishing up oiling my feet, massing me there and then started on my heads .. of course I told her to stop because that's a little gross. AHHH my first time going here. I've bookmarked this place for a couple of months (because I've been dying for a deep tissue massage) and finally had the time to go yesterday. COCO spa should be on the right next to Boys club of america (?) I believe. From the outside, it looks like a dingy, shady, hole in the wall kind of place. But once you go down the stairs, it's not as bad. The owner speaks English so no need to worry about the language barrier. I told them what I wanted -full body 1 hr- and he asked female or male. I asked for a female and he led me down the hall into one of the "rooms". (Rooms are separated by walls that do not reach the ceiling and with curtains). It was my first time, but from reading yelp reviews, I took off my clothes except the underwear and laid face down on the bed. There was a blanket there and I put that on top of me. My masseuse (Mei/May) asked me if I was ready and she came in. She asked medium or hard- I replied with a medium. First, she massaged my whole back and my arms,and fingers and then used hot stones. IT WAS SUPER AMAZING. (This was all done with the blanket) Then, she told me to flip over and she massaged my scalp. The massage was painful even though I constantly kept repeating to apply less pressure - on top of that the masseuse was massaging one part of my body for like 15 minutes to a point where it was just hurting, I literally had to move his hand and say STOP. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It's in the basement. At first it was very intimidating to walk in as my friend and I (both girls) walked in and see a line of male workers giving foot massages to clients staring back at us. But looking ahead, there were two gentlemen that waved us forward. The people at the front desk were nice. We were able to get two body massages and the ladies that worked on us knew what they were doing. Personally, I've been to a few foot massage places in SF and Las Vegas. It's my first time in ny, and so far, I thought it was the best one. My masseuse was very attentive, asked about the pressure, initially asked which areas she should focus on and even without saying the specific areas, she massaged the knots in my body. Suffice to say none of those made the knot any looser, that is until I came back here to Coco Spa and I think I will have to make this my forever massage place. The other option was for me to pay 6 times the amount for massage at the new Spa Castle Premier 57- is 175 really worth a massage there? For 30 bucks I was able to get a strong massage for my knot and the hot stones really helped. I did not feel this good at the other two places I tried this past week. I am a fan. For the price level, you'd expect a dodgy dark massage parlor. However the pictures posted really don't do much justice. From the outside and from the stairway entrance, it does seem a little creepy, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the interior, and oddly, especially the bathroom. Everything is new construction, so the flooring and the tiles really make this place feel like a proper spa, at least more than other massage places around Flushing; something that is greatly lacking in Flushing massage parlors. The prices were so low I bought a 6-hour pack after my first visit for only $150 (!!) Needless to say I will be coming here after work every Friday to let loose. I love getting massages-- and I have had my fair share. Coco Spa is located in a very convenient spot near the Boys Club of New York (you can take the Q58 Flushing-bound bus to the last stop). Though at first, the entrance does seem a bit shady-- it's actually not too shabby. When you enter, you will see a relatively normal establishment with foot massage chairs placed in the front, the reception closer in, and the full-body massage "rooms" in the back (each "room" is separated with decorative curtains). The place is actually really straight to the point and lacks the whole "relaxing" atmosphere that many other massage parlors try to create (no calm music in the background, no dim lighting, etc.)-- but I don't really care, I just want a massage and don't care to pay for the premium. I came here with my sister for a full-body massage, and without an appointment, we were both able to be accommodated within 10 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. Your masseuse will walk you to the massage room (clean but a little shady looking-- but again, I don't care for the decor if it's clean) where you will undress and lay down on the table. I actually thought the table was lacking cushion (or maybe I was just too hungry)-- when the masseuse pressed down on areas where my bone would be... it kind of rubbed with the table and felt uncomfortable-- but once she got through those areas, the rest of the ride was smooth. I LOVED THE MASSAGE. It was really a full body massage and her hands... were like magic. Upon comparison with my sister on her testimony, it seems that they do have a standard "procedure" of massage, so hopefully you won't have to worry that your masseuse would miss a spot-- legs, arms, back, neck, head-- all worked on + hot stones. I think it's easier to find now because the signs are more prominent. I won't beat a dead horse. This is a no frills place. None. Not even an attempt at frills. The first time I went, the lady told me to undress but to keep my underwear on. I assumed "underwear" meant bra and panties, but when she came back, she said bra should come off. That first lady was awesome. It was super painful, but it felt really good. The second time I went, though, it was so-so. It didn't even hurt, which was kind of disappointing. I could hear a lot of pounding and slapping going on next to me, which I definitely wasn't getting from my lady, so I'm guessing a lot of your experience will depend on who you get (unless you know what to ask for). Going down to the basement and walking pass all the foot massages with them all staring at you was a bit awkward. I got a male masseuse and he was rough. He barely use oil, so it's more skin rubbing on skin. I have a major knot on my right shoulder, and all he was doing was elbowing and knuckling the hell out of it causing major pain. Saddistic scammers. I usually don't trust one starred reviews but I had the worst experience here. Sure this place is cheap but I don't understand why you would pay to have a painful massage and then after that, be forced to tip 33% on top of that. We had the full body massage and it was extremely painful (for both me and my companion so at least they're consistent) - we had even clenched our fists in pain and tensed our entire bodies to communicate the unpleasantness but they did not stop or lessen the massage strength. I've been to plenty of asian massage places and have never had my butt "massage" (read tortured) so much before. I called to make an appointment before but when we arrived, he told us that the tables werent ready so we should go for a 30 minute foot massage first (which I didn't book - we just wanted a 60 min full body massage). We agreed and that was admittedly fine. I also have to say that the full body massage wasn't all bad. Apart from the times when he was "massaging" non-muscle areas, it was mostly okay. But their lack of compassion and care for their customers pleasure that was a huge negative. My companions therapist even asked him if it hurt, and he responded yes to which the therapist ignored and continued doing whatever he was doing for an additional 5 minutes showing sadistic behaviour. At the end of it, I was going to tip them 10% even though I really did not want to for being treated so terribly but when I told the guy at the counter this, he said no that is not enough. It has to be at least $15 per person. This is not written anywhere on their website nor in the premises and I'm pretty sure it is illegal to enforce a tip especially on shitty service. The first time I've been disappointed with a place on yelp with such a high rating. Never going back and I hope if you read this, you won't too. $20/hr for a foot massage? Yes! Will I come back? No. I've had several foot massages from the west coast and none of them was like the experience I had at Coco. You walk down the stairs and the foot therapist puts your feet in a bucket of hot, almost too hot water for just a few minutes. Then he starts working on ur feet and legs for the whole hour. Unlike the ones I've been to before, it was half an hour on foot and the other half hour on body. Yes, still paying for a foot massage and the body massage which sometimes includes head was an added bonus. But not here, it was an entire hour of mostly pain. I'm a guy, maybe not a big guy but my foot therapist was and he was massaging my feet like a piece of meat. I don't think I needed to tell him to go softer, he could see it in my face but instead he just laughed and nodded like it was fine. It also felt like my legs were burned because he didn't use enough lotion and was rubbing my leg hairs really really hard. I don't know how the ladies would be able to handle this. The time I went on a weekday afternoon, only males were giving the foot massage. I was hoping to get a nice foot massage where I could close my eyes and doze off for a few minutes but instead I was trying to hold the pain in. If I had known it would hurt this much I would ask to get half an hour of massage. When I got up I felt the pain in my calves and inner sides of my feet, still several hours later.
