Mid-Project Review - AGA Construction…read more We're officially about halfway through our kitchen and dining room renovation with AGA Construction, and we've been extremely happy with the experience and progress so far! This was a pretty extensive renovation that required taking the kitchen and dining area down to the bones. From the start, the AGA Construction team handled the demolition quickly and efficiently, and once everything was opened up, they immediately got to work on the important things you don't necessarily see in the finished product. In just about two weeks, they've tackled the major electrical and plumbing work, brought necessary items up to code, installed new recessed lighting, completed drywall, and have already started/completed the new flooring. It's pretty incredible looking back at the photos of the original kitchen, then seeing the walls and ceiling completely opened up, and now seeing an entirely new space beginning to take shape. A huge part of making the process go so smoothly has been our project manager, Micky. He has been great about guiding us through everything step by step, explaining what the team is working on, answering our questions, keeping us informed about what comes next, and helping us navigate all of the decisions that come with a renovation of this size. Having that communication has made a potentially stressful process feel much more manageable. We're only midway through the project, but it already feels like we've gotten through the hardest and least glamorous part--the demolition and all of the electrical, plumbing, code, drywall and infrastructure work behind the walls. Now we're getting to the exciting part where we can actually watch our new kitchen and dining room come together! So far, we've been very impressed with AGA Construction, Micky, and the entire crew for how quickly and efficiently they've kept everything moving while still keeping us informed throughout the process. Mickey was in charge of our project and he was always prompt to answer questions, quick to address any issues, always checked in on us to see how things were going with the project. As an engineer with considerable experience building and renovating single-family homes outside of California, I planned to have my own engineer prepare the drawings, obtain city approval, and then subcontract each phase of construction to separate companies. I initially thought this would be the least expensive way to maintain control over every aspect of the project and to make sure it was done my way. The process started out well, but with my frequent work and personal travel, I quickly realized that I did not have the time or patience required to manage multiple contractors and coordinate every phase myself. That is when I decided to hire Platinum Builders. Devon, the project manager assigned to my project, came out quickly to review the approved plans and discuss the project in detail. He was professional, responsive, and willing to work around my travel schedule. From our first meetings, it was clear that Devon was not simply focused on winning the project. His professionalism and honesty gave me confidence that Platinum Builders would be the right company to take over the work. I received three other quotes, and two of them were substantially lower than Platinum's. Despite the price difference, I decided to go with Platinum because I felt more confident in their ability to manage the entire project properly and provide a turnkey solution. The project had already begun, with the footings excavated before Platinum took over. Devon quickly brought in his footing specialists, and they took over the work without any unnecessary delays. The crew was professional, knowledgeable, and clearly understood what needed to be done. I did not have to spend time explaining basic construction requirements or supervising their work, which I greatly appreciated. The framing crew was equally professional. They were willing to answer my questions, understood the engineering drawings, and did not need to be educated on how to interpret the plans. It was obvious that they knew what they were doing and paid attention to the details. The roofing portion of the project went reasonably well. The final phase, including drywall, trim, and painting, was where I experienced some quality issues. The subcontractor was generally good, but their junior crew and some of the preparation work did not meet the same standard as the earlier phases. Several items needed to be pointed out and corrected. What impressed me, however, was how Devon handled those issues. He recognized the gaps, did not ignore my concerns, and was quick to have the problems addressed to my satisfaction. In any construction project, especially an addition, there will inevitably be issues along the way. What matters most is how the contractor responds when those issues arise, and I believe Platinum Builders handled them appropriately. Overall, I believe Platinum Builders is a great company to consider for a major home project. They are willing to take on complex projects and provide homeowners with a true turnkey solution, which can be especially valuable for someone who does not have the time to manage multiple subcontractors. Despite having the knowledge and experience to manage the project myself, I ultimately realized the value of having a professional company coordinate the work. Based on my experience, I would choose Platinum Builders again for a future project.

Jacob came to our house with some information about upgrading our property. The time he spent at our house was far too long. We moved forward filling out the paperwork and we were very clear about him doing " soft" credit inquiry and jacob assured us that he would only do a Soft inquiry but he lied to us.. we chose not to work with him and Ramono Builders because he did not tell us the truth.
