CoCoBoNgO! This place is insane. They're still caught up on movies from the 90's, before many of the patrons of this bar were even born. This is wild- it's part disco, part dance club, part show. They play loud, loud music, and every third or fourth song or so, every 15-20 minutes, they do a show- someone comes in dressed as The Mask, or Beetlejuice, or Captain Jack Sparrow, and they do a musical dance number and everyone goes insane. It's open bar. But all the drinks are pretty bad. The beer- Tecate Light poured from caguamas. I'd never heard of the rotgut tequila. You apparently have the option to get a bottle and a table for a few thousand pesos. Party next door for warmup at the Oxxo or Senior Frog's. The staff were all friendly, and acted like they loved their job, and had seen it all. My favorite thing was that the urinals were in the shape of mouths. The decor is amazing. The shows were fantastic. I had an amazing time. I can't wait to go back! Overall, this was a very disappointing and concerning experience. Despite having a reservation, the evening began with poor organization and an extended wait to be seated. Once inside, we encountered further issues, including bartenders attempting to charge us for drinks that were clearly included in the package, which felt misleading and unprofessional. More troubling, however, was the lack of safety and staff responsiveness. My sister was repeatedly harassed by another guest, who persistently kicked her seat and attempted to provoke a confrontation. Despite this ongoing behavior, no staff intervention occurred. The situation escalated when the individual poured a cocktail on my sister--only at that point did security step in. This delayed response created an uncomfortable and unsafe environment, which is unacceptable for any venue, especially one offering a paid experience. Guests should never feel at risk or unsupported in such situations. To add to the frustration, our return transportation was also delayed, as the driver arrived late. Overall, the combination of disorganization, questionable practices, and lack of adequate security made this a highly unpleasant experience. This was one of the highlights of our trip! I don't think $90 with unlimited drinks is a lot to pay for the quality of the performances. It is very crowded and cramped which isn't necessarily a bad thing but if you don't like crowds then do not go here. They tried to sell us a table many times. I don't know how much extra a table would have been but it was fun being in the main area. The servers are carrying trays full of drinks through the crowds like champs! One thing that I liked is that they let you leave and come back. Unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Part show, part nightclub that was entertainingly chaotic. Favorite bit was the 300 bit. I've never experienced anything like this. Picture a crazy packed night club with random singing/dancinc/acrobatic acts. My favorite was the Beetlejuice act. I also loved ABBA, Queen, and pirates of the Caribbean Coco Bongo is a Vegas style show that is very popular herein Cancun. It's crazy. Entertaining and so so fun. You have random shot girls that make you take shots, they put you on the screen if you dance, and the actors come up to take pictures with you. I can't describe it any other way. Horrible venue that pales in comparison to the show in Playa Del Carmen. This place is an absolute zoo. There is literally nowhere for people to stand.and you are constantly getting pushed around from one sapot to another by the incredibly rude and inconsiderate show staff. When it comes to the actual show performances, they are few and far between. Prepare to spend to spend well over three-quarters of the show watching video clips of random artists onscreen and guests in the stands dancing on screen. As for the drinks prepare to wait in long lines at the bar and SERVE YOURSELF. If you ever bring up the issue to one of the members of the wait staff, the first thing you can expect is a question asking you if you have a table. If you didn't feel like forking over an additional $100 for a table when purchasing the so-called regular, unlimited drink ticket, prepare to be upsold on additional services once you are already inside the club. Don't expect the staff to pay any attention to you if you decline their greedy offer... Don't say I didn't warn you. I loved my first time coming here when it was just me and my husband. Our last visit was during our wedding where we brought in a group of 25 people. They had us crammed on two small tables and we didn't fit. We were standing at our second table and close to the third next to us and people kept shoving us. It wasn't a fun time and we left after an hour. Which is a shame because the music and entertainment is a fun aspect of this place. But definitely not worth the price we paid for our tickets. Came here for a Friday night show and it was 3 hours. We had a group of 17 girls present for a bachelorette, and purchased a table with bottle service in advance. They also sell tickets at the door but I believe online pricing is more favorable. The show was a mix of dancing and acrobatics interspersed with bringing girls from the crowd up to dance. Note that if you are wearing a flowy skirt, they blow up air and you may be exposed if you choose to go up to the front. Restrooms were placed around the venue. They do sell food like hot dogs. When thru shoot the confetti out, I would recommend covering your drinks because it gets everywhere and they do reuse the same confetti. It was a wildly rambunctious time and it's a lot of fun - definitely an experience I hadn't seen before. Just like most of the previous reviews, I totally agree to come at least once, mind blowing experience! I am not a club person, and I am not a dancing fan! But I love all kinds of music! My cousin dragged me and my husband after our wedding. So the first time in my life being in a wild loud dancing club, the whole days excitement extended. We arrived late, around 11:20pm, the show has already started, so we didn't bargain too much, on a Sunday $70 per person including a bottle of alcohol with three different mixer and a table. Of course the whole place has already packed, probably over 800 person there. The beats were so strong that almost everyone was dancing stick with the people surrounding (too crowded), the music is from 60's until now, they fits all ages. And a lot of good dancing audience were invited on the stage including my sister in law! The balloons rain were keep dropping once in a while! Very great vibe the whole time! I can't believe I am writing this, but I have to agree with the previous poster. I am originally from New York and I have partied all over the United States and Europe. This is different. I definitely thought this was just a tourist trap and I was prepared to be disappointed. I was completely blown away by this place. The show was super entertaining and the party was lit. It is packed every night, but I wouldn't go on a Friday or Saturday because it's too crowded and too expensive. Save some money and go on a Sunday. VIP is definitely worth it. The reps haggle on the price and you can get a deal. We were in town for my friends birthday and were selected to go on stage which was fun. My daughter turned 21, so we had a night out. I bought our tickets at the hotel days ahead, so that I wouldn't have to worry about standing in line for tickets at the venue. We decided to go on a Thursday night because the prices drastically jump up for the weekend. There were several different lines to get in the venue. Workers were walking around asking patrons if they wanted to pay more money to get to the front of the line. I guess that's why they had several lines. Once we got in, my daughter and I quickly grabbed the best bar seats left to get a good view of the stage. I'm glad we got these seats because I would not have wanted to stand up the entire night. We were scammed. We spoke with a coco bongo representative named YAIR that ensured we would get a table with bottles to be able to accommodate 11 people. When we arrived the club was over crowed and people would hit you while trying to pass with the table people. They led us to the middle of the club where there was no space, no table, and no seating. When we asked for a refund they said no and that we can stay or go either way we wouldn't get a refund the manager didn't do anything nor had a name tag. Honestly ruined the night and we over paid. There are for sure better clubs out there don't settle for an overrated one. It's a total scam what they do with the tickets and act like the cheap options are sold out, only for them to be available again the following day and cheaper to buy in person. We got the "deluxe drink" ticket package bc that was falsely listed as the cheapest option left, we definitely got the exact same drinks as the general admission. Venue is a bit dated and feels like it needs to be a bit more higher end to make it feel more classy. Pool party is fun but kinda small and to many wild kids. (Maybe that was me lol) Overall it's a chill place worth checking out once but probably wouldn't come back unless the crowd was more upscale. OMG what a wild place!!! If you've never heard of The Coco Bongo-- you may want to sit down and review your 90's movie favorites. This was the fictional night club in The Mask starring Jim Carrey, but it's now a real-life chain of night clubs (2 in Mexico, one in Punta Cana) owned by Jim Carrey, himself!! The ticket price was $100 for the night and included an open bar plus all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers and french fries! I ate at the taqueria across the street before I came, haha. Imagine the craziest night club with balconies, over-the-top aerial dance shows, lazers, adjustable stages, a dance cam, dancer boxes and insane themed shows that that they randomly involve audience members in, and so much more. The Mask is, of course, a recurring element to the show, which also includes guns and roses impersonators, gogo dancers, a couple of different Michael Jackson impersonators, Co2 cannons, confetti, balloon drops, a Beetle Juice impersonator.... and I wasn't even there until half way through the night. I spent more time dancing then capturing photos, but this place was definitely an absolutely nutty Cancun experience! I don't know if I'll ever go back to Cancun because I prefer other parts of Mexico, but if you find yourself there you really aren't getting the Cancun experience without a night at The Coco Bongo. read more

"Scammers" is what comes to mind when I think about our Day Club experience at Coco Bongo. We planned a day club day for my best friend's bachelorette, with 17 ladies, and paid for bottle service online a month prior. Everything online, including their signs outside the club, said it starts at 1pm. When we arrived at 1pm, they told us they were closed and don't open until 3pm.... and they said it changed earlier that week. An update via an email would've been nice. We had fun at senor frogs next door to kill time. When we got back at 3pm, it took over 30 minutes for us to get checked in. The employees were saying they couldn't find the reservation and then they told us they did find it... and they'd go back and forth about us owing money...sometimes they'd tell us we don't owe anything else... and then they come back saying we do. By the time we got situated and ready to drink, we've been there for what felt like an hour. This was a mess!! After being checked in...we finally got served 5 bottles of tequila, chasers, water, and champagne at our cabana. Our server was super nice, probably the nicest interaction there. The staff kept walking back and forth and telling us to move out of the way since our booth was in a walkway, and that would honestly get super annoying while we're trying to have fun and dance. This was my second time at Coco Bongo. It has been years since the first time at least 10. So it was nice to see this was still a Cancun staple. I was curious how they would pull off a club of this size during a pandemic. So, you buy your tickets and it comes with an outrageous amount of drinks, like 12 or something crazy like that. So at that point you know the drinks will be watered way down. Now there is assigned seating and you and your party stays there for the duration of the event. Previously it was a show that turned into a dance party but now it's just a show. You stay in your spot and watch the very cool acrobatics. Every time we moved the staff would steal our stools to give to others people. It was very strange. And the place was packed. For now i would skip this attraction. This is the best night club I have ever been to and would definitely come back to Cancun for this!! I came here on a Thursday and IT WAS PACKED! There were so many people it was a little hard to move around, but it was still a really good time! We got general admission and the tickets were $75 USD, which seems pricey until you get in! We got in around 10:30 PM, and the show started at 11. While waiting, they played a lot of EDM from all over the world, like USA and France and of course Mexico. The music choice was fabulous. The show was also super exciting. There were acrobats flying around the room and singers recreating famous music played in the past, such as kiss. All the crowd in the club was also super enthusiastic, which made it such an amazing night. The club has unlimited beer the entire time, but some cocktails and shots are extra for general admissions. They did have customers spaced out so not crowded as some have noted. The show was great. Aerialists, impersonators. Confetti cannons, great music gets you up and dancing. I don't typically go for this type of show but the energy of the performers and the music were great. I came with 6 other girls, we spent well over $20k at our table and all had a moment to go on stage. During our last friends' solo dance, the nightclub BLASTED AIR UP HER DRESS AND REVEALED HER ENTIRE UNDERGARMENTS WITHOUT CONSENT! Luckily she was wearing underwear, and was a good sport about it. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. It was 100 USD per person to get in, and the people had some type of accounting error with our group. We paid the night before, but they lost track of a part of our payment because we paid with separate cards. They also gave away our reservation. We were a little late, but a PAID reservation is a PAID reservation. They took our money, but gave away our reservation?! We stood at the ticket area for at least 45 minutes while the people 1- looked into the accounting error and 2- found a place to seat us since they gave away our reservation. It's like they were reluctant to believe that we paid even when we showed them the receipts and our banking apps showing that they took the money. They should have let us in instead of have us watch them run around trying to figure out their mistakes, but we stood there. Mind you, the hours were different due to covid, so they would be closing early. We asked for our money back several times since the problem was taking forever to be resolved, but they pretty much ignored us. They lied and said we would have a nice table and drinks waiting when we got in. We were honestly in a crappy area supposedly for VIP, and the waiter kept messing up our drink orders. He barely checked on us. We had to hunt him down to place an order. The food was also terrible. Reheated fries and chicken nuggets? Lol.
