He came by, spent about 10 min walking around, rang the doorbell and gave me a sheet of paper with the quote. Easy and painless as that. I asked for roof quote and got exactly what I wanted. He did not need to come inside or make me listen to a 2 hr sales pitch. I've had at least 2 other companies who tried to do that when I was getting a roof for the quote. 1 of them gave me a quote on sidings instead. The other did not even give me a quote because I decided to kick them out after half an hr. After getting some other quotes I decided to go with Robert and he agreed to come out 2 weeks later. His crew came on time as promised but he wasn't physically there until the end of the day. Overall his crew was efficient. They finished within 1 day as promised. The shingles looked okay, not as flat or even like our neighbors but it appeared to be just fine. They finished the roof before a big snow storm and rain/wind storm within the same week. It was able to withstand everything just fine and no noticeable water leak or anything in the attic. I did discovered a small chipped wood area in the attic which I can see some of the underlayment and shingles but water was not getting through or anything. I will continue to monitor. They actually was supposed to install the chimney as well forgot so they returned a few days later to complete it as promised. Overall fantastic job from Robert and his crew. From the quoting process to the fast efficient work. Cosmetically the shingles could have looked a bit better and more even but functionally it seems to have served its purpose and was worth it for the price I paid.

After speaking to a few roofing companies, I decided to go with Kavanaugh, because I saw a lot of their signs around Westwood and Norwood and, unlike some of the other roofers I met with, they did not trash the competition. They also had a great price and were really fast to return phone calls and answer questions. I also appreciated that they provided their insurance and license information up front. When it came to the work, they were in and out in one day. They did a great job and it could not have been easier to work with Paul. My wife and I both work in Boston, so it was going to be tough to be home when all the work was being done, but Paul did not mind and his team did everything quickly, efficiently and professionally. The whole process felt more like I was dealing with someone I had known for a long time rather than a big faceless company. I strongly recommend Kavanaugh Roofing and hope that they continue to maintain this high level of customer service.

My husband and I had originally called Paul back in January to get an estimate to redo the roof on…read morethe house we had just bought in Norwood. Paul came out right away and left an estimate- he was the most reasonable of all the other estimates we got. We actually got married this June, and between moving into our new home and planning for the wedding, the roof was pushed aside. Once our wedding was done, we called Paul in late June to see if we could reconnect. Paul immediately remembered which house we lived in (months later!), and mentioned that we may need to repair our skylight. He said he would stop by to inspect the skylight and leave roof samples so we could pick out the color we wanted. Not only did he call back to let me know that the skylight was not an immediate need (he knew we didn't have much money over the estimate to spend), but he was also honest about the different types of roofing materials- as in, what the "Good", "Better", and "Best" meant- and what he would suggest. Paul said he would get back to us in a couple of weeks- he had a few other jobs scheduled before ours. However, two days later (a Wednesday), he called to say another job had to be rescheduled, and that he could begin the next day and be done by the weekend! My husband and I were shocked and so happy! Paul and his crew came on Thursday afternoon, with a dumpster, and were able to remove half of the roof. My husband and I weren't even home- they came while we were at work. The next morning (Friday), they showed up promptly at 6:30AM, and the crew worked right through until noon. They were completely done in less than two full days. The crew was very professional! Paul was there the whole time working, and everyone was very friendly (I was home all day Friday). We have Directv (a dish), and one of his workers even tried to recalibrate it for me so that our cable would work (it was being finicky- not his fault!) The cost was exactly as Paul had quoted- not one dollar more- and he told me about a few extra things that they did- replaced some of the warped wood boards, insulated the front bay window, and sealed the skylight, just in case. Our roof came out excellent, and we are so pleased with the work Paul and his crew did. They were incredibly efficient, even working through a brief period of rain. I will be adding photos once I take some of the outside. The new roof has changed the look of our home. One of his crew members even came back a few days later with a magnet-type stick to pick up any nails left behind. I doubt we will have any more roofing needs in the near future, but we could not recommend Kavanaugh roofing more!

When the city inspector came to sign off on our…read moreproject, he told us: "I was a contractor for 20 years before becoming an inspector, and you don't see superb work like this anymore. You are very fortunate." We could not agree more. BER transformed our 130-year-old home with extraordinary skill and care. They stripped the old shingles and clapboards, applied multiple layers of protective barrier to the original walls, and installed new state-of-the-art composite clapboards and cedar shingles. The bottom course of shingles was individually notched to replicate the original detail, and the dentil molding was reconstructed by hand. The team also completely rebuilt our bays in PVC that, once painted, is indistinguishable from wood. Every line, corner, and transition is precise. They worked through extraordinary conditions--from 10-degree winter days to 100-degree summer heat--without ever compromising their focus, craftsmanship, or attention to detail. Joe Danz oversaw the project closely from start to finish. He communicated warmly and consistently with the three homeowners in our building, accommodated additional requests fairly, and remained committed to the work until every detail was right. Our neighbors--including two architects--stopped to admire the workmanship as the project progressed. Our home has been restored to its original beauty with durable materials and craftsmanship that should last far beyond the current owners. We are deeply grateful to Joe and his outstanding team at Boston Exterior Remodeling. They exceeded our expectations in every way.

He came right away to give us an estimate, which came in under our insurance estimate. It was not the least expensive estimate we received, but I knew Joe was knowledgeable when he noticed damage caused by the tree that our insurance adjuster had missed. He also demonstrated pride in quality work when he noticed bad sealing jobs done by the contractor that originally renovated the building back in 2005, and indicated that he would take care of those too before we started to experience leaks over time. After my first interaction with him I knew we had found the guy. Joe showed up on time, on the day he said he would be there. He did the work himself (with a partner), quickly and quietly. He even had our new gutter custom made, and when he didn't like the quality of the shop's product he insisted it be re-done before he installed it. The patches on the previous roofer's bad sealing jobs look great, and I'm no longer worried that our roof will start leaking after the first big snowfall. All of this took about a day and a half. Joe also cleaned everything up--not a single roofing nail or shingle left behind. Hopefully we will not need any additional roof work done, but if we do, I will definitely call Joe Cobb. Highly recommended.
