Make a reservation!! Everyone seems to show up at once and we had to wait 44 minutes with a reservation. The food was delicious and the service was great. The French onion soup made with red ale was flavorful and filling. The Cesar salad was light and had tiny bits of real bacon bits. Sooo good! The falafel salad was very tasty, colorful presentation and the dressing was very light. This place is clay and enjoyable. The restaurant has very close seating which makes it cozy. read more

Pork chop was divine and fish was great ! Would definitely come back. Service was a tad slow, our waitress wasn't attentive as we would've liked as it took awhile to flag her down. This is both an indoor and outdoor eatery & Café with a very large menu focused on pork dishes. There were plenty of other non-pork dishes to choose from which we found several good options to choose. We were lucky enough to sit outside on the front sidewalk overlooking the main avenue and river. Service was very friendly & the outdoor atmosphere was very nice. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant when you're in Quebec! All of the dishes we tried were delicious French Onion Soup - Cheesy on the top with onions inside Seafood Pot Pie - Tasted like clam chowder! We were on the hunt for a place to eat, and the alluring pig statue they have outside of their entrance drew us in. We strolled in around 5:45 PM on a Monday night, and were seated immediately. The service was phenomenal and the ambience was absolutely exquisite. The food... was also incredibly lip smacking. We ordered the ribs, french onion soup, fried chicken and waffles, and burger. And we ate down every last crumb. A 10/10 experience and one of the highlights of my trip to canada for sure. read more

went into this place after wandering in the rain. Had the hot chicken, and husband the lobster roll - both excellent. A little pricy for the offerings but honestly they are smack dab in the hottest tourist area of the city so not out of line with every other place. Great flavours, very Quebec proud in their dishes (lots of classic French Canadian) and nice decor / location is easy for those staying at the Chateau or surrounding area. read more

This place is amazing!! And it was really close to our hotel so it was a bonus for us First off the decor is adorable and fun. It's like a big version of a busy diner with funky decorations and a great kitchen and barista space. The service was very friendly and they have a very large menu to choose from. There's food ranging from diner food, breakfast, street food, to Quebec products. It's a great place to visit atleast once on a trip. We ordered the fried pickles to start which were very unique. I'm not sure I personally like the temperature of the pickle, but mixed with the homemade tzatziki sauce, it was very delicious! I also ordered the bretzdog which was so good! My sister and I were considering options for dinner, and realized that Cochon Dingue, also found in Vieux Quebec, had a location near our hotel. Since it was a short distance, we decided to give it a go. The building itself is quite nice and we were a fan of the decor, which included lights decorated with whisks. Nice! The menu was pretty extensive with a range of options. We chose: Ungabuzz: a cocktail of gin unavailable, David's Tea syrup, grapefruit juice, thyme and soda. Much too sweet and didn't taste any of the gin. Local beer: note to my fellow Americans out there- when they ask you if you want the "small" one or the "big" one... The "big" one is really about 2 pints worth! Just FYI. Because my metric conversion did not respond in time and I got a good 2 pints' worth. Smoked meat poutine: good standard poutine with the added smoked meat. Yum! Cauliflower & cheese burrito: uhh not good. I was thinking it was a bit cliche for the Californian to get a burrito but I was intrigued by the cauliflower! Not a great choice. Maybe the chef didn't roll the burrito right, but all the cheese was on one side and all the other fillings were on the other. Bretzdog: sister really liked the Bretzdog! My small bite of it was quite good. Wish I had gone for that instead. Solid 3/5. Waitress spoke limited English but enough to get through the meal. read more

We enjoy coming here when visiting Quebec. The meals are always fresh and service is very good. The desserts are made in house.

We agreed that the shrimp and lobster linguini was our favorite. The ribs were good as well. The duck spring rolls were okay. Not you're typical spring rolls. They have bread on request. I would definitely recommend! read more

Living in The province of Quebec sometime I take for granted how much good French food there is here! Cochon Dingue is definitely a pleasant surprise while in QC. I have wanted to try this place for quite sometime but thought it to be more of a breakfast place. I was so very wrong lol. I would consider it a new hip type of bistro pub. Something French, upbeat and by the looks of it on my visit definitely popular. A quick check of their website they call it a Paris bistro but 100% Quebec. It is tastefully decorated and modern in feel. This location on Lebourgneuf has large windows, an open feel and lots of tables. Many of which were full on the day I had come. During my visit they had a poutine special running. Not today for me or I would be asleep by 2:00 pm. So.....I had selected the open faced sandwich with Duck confit that came with melted cheese and apple. This was on the special menu which came with the choice of a soup which I had selected as vegetable. The soup was fresh, a tomato base and not very salty but quite good. The sandwich with duck was so decadent. Some nice chunks of duck with apple and the melted cheese. It was decadent, scrumptious and delish. There was a side of fries that accompanied it which I only ate half as it was a big lunch. Keep in mind this is not a cheap place and most selections will run you $20+ after tax and tip. For high quality French food I'd say once in a while or you will look like a bowling pin as it's rich! I'm looking forward to coming back to try something else! Good stuff! read more

Maybe it's because I live in the American Midwest where the food is uninspiring, to put it generously and politely, but the breakfast we had at Le Cochon Dingue was fabulous. The breakfast poutine and the duck crepe were absolutely delicious. Another thing that stood out is the food was not overly salty, unlike much of American breakfast foods. The Quebecois know food. Or I have lived in the food desert of the American Midwest for too long. It's probably a combination of the two. read more

We went for brunch on Saturday, around 12 noon. The place was packed but was able to get seating right away. Cappuccino and latte was good, and the hot chocolate was not what we were used to in the US. It was relatively rich and thick, almost like melted chocolate! It really is "hot chocolate"! It's heaven for chocolate lovers. My hubby had a smoked salmon bagel sandwich, which was okay. Arugula was a little whittled. My son had the French onion soup which was good but a bit too salty. He asked for bread to balance it out. My other son ordered the breakfast poutine, which he enjoyed. The fries were cubed home fries, which we think works better than the regular fries. The hollandaise sauce and egg worked nicely together. I ordered the chia pudding with fresh fruit, homemade granola, and caramelized bananas...yum!!! There was a 45 minute wait when we arrived around 11, they take your number and text you when your table is almost ready. We walked around the shops until then. Restaurant is well worth the wait! The service was great, our food and drinks were delicious! My mimosa made with pear nectar was so good, I would return just for that. My husband had an onion soup, the fondue starter and a petit poutine - all so good! The fondue is actually lightly fried cheese balls and they were amazing. Had a really nice meal at Le Cochon Dingue. It initially looked very full but we were seated within 5 minutes. All the staff we encountered spoke English well making it easy for this Ontarian to communicate. The decor was really nice and inviting. My family and I went for breakfast. Ordered a soy latte and it came in a small bowl. SO MUCH LATTE. Every coffee should come in this size. Best part was that it was included in our meal. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benny with the apple butter for the toast and the whole meal was delicious. It even came with a shot sized strawberry smoothie! Finally, what made me give this place a 5 instead of a 4 was our waitress. She was so genuinely enthusiastic but not in a way that made you feel like she was trying to get a better tip. The food there was based on authentic French cooking and the meats were rich, flavorful and tender as could be. The rich meats were combined with a rustic medley of vegetables which were also great on health but also taste. We wish had come here for breakfast earlier in our stay- we would have come a few times! They have several options for breakfast: eggs, French toast, crepes, etc. I had a combo breakfast because I couldn't decide between sweet or savory. It had scrambled eggs with hollandaise sauce, potatoes, and an apple cinnamon crepe. It was perfect! My husband had the crepes with berries and pulled ham. The ham was smoky, salty, and everything you want ham to be. Oh! Also- coffee and expresso drinks are included with your breakfast. The service was a bit slow when we were seated at the patio, we asked the server if we can change the seats to the inside restaurant because the patio spot was too sunny for us. The server inside served us faster. The food was mainly breakfast . My husband ordered the breakfast poutine and I ordered 1 egg, asparagus , toast and deep fried hash down with tomato sauce. The toast I had was burnt. The food tasted like what I could have made at home. Not that special but my husband like his breakfast poutine because it has egg on it. It comes with hot drinks on the side (hot coffee and old fashion hot chocolate). The hot chocolate was sweet and thick and that's how I like it. This is the first time I tried a thick hot chocolate . We loved the ambience and the food. The service was also good, despite that since it was very empty and the end of the night, our server was doing other tasks and kept us waiting a few times. Once she was just chatting with the table behind me but was apologetic when she realized we were waiting. We had the seafood salad ceviche and that was fantastic. I had the iceberg and cheddar salad and it was well made. Also had the ribs which were tender and delicious. Their lemonade was so good we ordered more. Dessert, tea, and coffee topped it off. Just came back from the restaurant. Nothing pretentious, nice place to hang out and have good food from Quebec. I love their terasse. For drink, I took a sangria. Again, nothing special about it, tasted a bit more commercial than homemade though. As for the main, I tried the seafood pot pie. A must! Really enjoyed it and the portion was just perfect, not too much, not too little. However if you have a big appetite, I'll recommend to order with fries as only salad won't be enough. What I really like is their dessert. They have choice of "little mignardise" for a small price, which is perfect for someone who like me who is just greedy and doesn't want to order a full cake! Had a little cake for less than 2$, you can combine one little bites for a special prices. Loved the concept! read more

Went here for the first time for a birthday dinner for my dad. I had heard so much positive feed back from this place and after eating here I can see why. The menu has something for everyone, I got the pulled pork and was very good and filling, tried abit of the Salmon and was also very good. Items on the menu made with Québec ingrédients show à fleur de lys beside them on a menu which I found a big plus, so I know we are supporting local. Staff seemed to genuinly care about the up keep of their establishment, on the way out I let the hostess know there was no paper towel left in the bathroom and she quickly went to let somebody know about it.
