I was a little nervous at first since I'm not super experienced with kayaking, but the guides were patient and gave clear instructions before we got on the water. Once we started, it felt calm and surprisingly peaceful. We even spotted birds and fish along the way, which I definitely didn't expect in Los Angeles. The whole experience felt safe, well-organized, and relaxed. It's such a cool way to see a different side of the city. I'd absolutely do it again.

When I saw the gondola ride advertised, I thought it would be the perfect way to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We made the drive from Rancho Cucamonga, and traffic was horrible. By the time we arrived, we were stressed and running late. From the moment we walked in, the young lady at the front desk (she had blonde hair, and I'm so sorry I forgot your name! ‍) greeted us with the warmest smile. She immediately told me to relax and assured me everything was going to be okay. Then I realized my phone was on only 5%, and I asked if they happened to have a charger. Without hesitation, she handed me a portable charger so I could capture the memories from our very first gondola ride. Our gondolier, Waylon (I hope I'm spelling your name correctly! ), was absolutely amazing. He was kind, professional, and so knowledgeable about the history of the area. He made the experience even more special. At the end of our ride, the sweet young lady surprised me with a beautiful rose. Such a simple gesture meant so much. After the incredibly difficult year and a half we've had, this team completely turned our stressful day around and gave us a first wedding anniversary we'll never forget. We booked the sunset ride for Sunday at 7:00 p.m. We checked in around 6:40. It only took about 5…read moreminutes to fill out the waiver and get a wristband and walk towards the water. They also have a key to the bathroom, which is around the corner. Even though we were 20 minutes early, they let us get on the water bike after a quick instruction. Riding on the water bikes was really fun! We rode around the bay and the water was choppy sometimes but as you get inside the bay, the water is calmer. A trick is that if you feel the water is too choppy, start paddling - the water will calm down with the pedaling. There are several boats around which provided live music for us. The bike has two cup holders and a front container to put your phones and small stuff in. We had a great time. They share a parking lot with nearby restaurants which offer 3 hours of free parking. That is a huge plus for something near the beach! We will be back next time to try a glow ride.

I felt completely safe and genuinely taken care of under their watch the entire time. They handled a large group with ease, and remained attentive to everyone's safety. When there were a few more rambunctious personalities in the group, they handled those situations effortlessly while still keeping the experience fun for everyone. I was continually impressed by how aware they were of everything happening around us. What really pulled at my heartstrings was what happened toward the end of our trip. During the last 45 minutes or so, the guides received word about a pod of bottlenose dolphins, and they went out of their way to make sure we got to see them. When we did...I cried. It was absolutely majestic and one of those moments I'll never forget. I'm sure these guides have seen thousands of dolphins. It's probably something they encounter regularly as part of their job, but what struck me most was how genuinely excited they were for US to see them. They could have easily treated it like, "Yep, there's another pod of dolphins," and moved on. Instead, they were just as enthusiastic about us experiencing it as we were. That really stayed with me. It showed me that they don't just do this job, they care about the experience they're giving people. They haven't become so accustomed to these incredible things that they've lost the excitement of sharing them with someone experiencing them for the first time. I appreciated that more than I can put into words. One more thing I really want to say... I did this entire excursion by myself. I have plenty of friends, but for one reason or another, nobody was able to join me. Some were nervous, some had previous injuries, and some just couldn't make it work. I almost let that stop me. I'm SO glad I didn't. If you're waiting for someone else to be available, waiting for a friend to feel brave enough, or waiting for the "right" person to go with you, just go. You could be missing out on something absolutely incredible while waiting for someone else's schedule, comfort level, or circumstances to line up with yours. I went alone and never once felt alone. The guides made me feel safe, supported, and included from beginning to end. The Catalina experience itself was incredible, but the guides are what made it unforgettable. And seeing those dolphins while watching the guides get excited for us to experience it...that's a memory I'll carry with me for a very long time. 10/10 experience. I would do this again in a heartbeat.
