The part that had me so stressed was speaking to the employee We purchased 2 kayaks for total was 60 something online When we got there we asked if we could exchange it for a paddle boat and we didnt really mind if we got any money exchange back we just wanted the peddle boat. Cost ($45) The employee kept going on how I would have to pay 40 more bucks and that we should keep the kayaks i kept trying to explain to him that we wouldn't owe more money because its cheaper and we just want the peddle boat we dont want the money. It's like there was no one in that head he kept saying he has never done anything like that and he didnt want me to waste my money. Again I said I wouldn't waste money you would actually just be making 15 more bucks for a peddle boat if you just give me the peddle boat and not the kayaks. My son loves the pedal boats and it's so great to be out in the water and see the birds and sea lions. Staff was friendly enough with getting us set up and out on the water. I've done this several times now so was excited to do it again. This time, my pedal boat broke half way back from the sea lions. I called the company to see if they could help since I was pedaling as hard as possible forward and backwards for 5 minutes and it wasn't moving. Not sure if we were stuck on something or if the boat was malfunctioning. Either way, I needed help. The girl who answered the phone apologized that the boat was broken but said that they could not help and good luck. .... by myself with a toddler in a boat that wasn't working. Expected more from this company and from a human being. Long story short, it ended up working again and we made it back to the dock. Just a heads up to everyone that if anything happens to you out there, they will not help you. I was ignorant and assumed they would have another boat and worst case could come help tow you back or something. read more

We've been wanting to go stand up paddleboarding since the summer, but plans never worked out exactly as we wanted... so we finally went on a Saturday in November. The weather was great, the sun was shining, and we used our Groupons. The workers were kind, and they got us on our boards and out into the water quickly! This establishment is completely RACIST. This incident happened today and the staff scheduled at around 10:30AM refused service to Asian families. He also cussed at a woman no less. All because I questioned the form as the staff didn't allow my 14 yr old son to kayak or paddle board. They said we had to go to the other paddle board store (called paddle house). It clearly said on the form that if you have a minor that is 18 yrs, below we fill out a waiver (this was shown at the back of the waiver adults had to fill out). In the meantime, only caucasians we're given good treatment and service. The staff called me a bitch, told me to FU and started yelling at me in front of other people only for questioning their form. I was so upset that it made me cry in front of the staff at the PADDLEBOARD HOUSE, because he did not want to serve an Asian family. This was done in front of my two sons. All we wanted was to enjoy paddle boarding time with our family, and it turned into a racial confrontation. We have witnesses and I will be suing this establishment for racial discrimination. read more

This company is right next to the glass bottom boat company in the Redondo Beach Harbor. A group of 5 of us walked down to the beach without rsvping, but the guy on the phone said that they have 15 paddle boards, so they never really run out. You fill out a quick waiver, get your life jacket, and puts you on the board in less than 5 minutes. I don't think one really needs lessons to paddle board, so we just rented it by the hour for $15. I think an hour was plenty just cruising along the harbor; we even just sat on our boards for 10 min in a small nook of the harbor (away from boats) enjoying the scenery. 3/5 of my friends never used a paddle board in their life, but they seemed to get up on the board right away! Sure there were a few unsteady moments, but no one fell in. The redondo beach harbor is awesome for seeing sea lions up close and personal. They state that you can't go closer than 20 ft to the wildlife, but that's plenty close. The sea lions don't really pay much attention to you, but they play and swim in water right next to you!!! It was really kinda awesome. While you're on the water, you can also see schools of small fish and garibaldi's darting underneath your board. The only things you have to watch out for are the boats and the fishermen with their clear lines hanging over the dock nearby. Other than that, it's pretty safe and quite peaceful/invigorating. Try it! It was an awesome experience and I think I might have another fun outing with my friends there again! read more

I am writing specifically about the paddle boats advertised on location for Adults/$10.00. It's actually $20.00. Who on earth would go out alone? These paddle boats are designed for children or for people with very short legs. At 6' tall, I found it extremely cramped and difficult to paddle. The seats are hard plastic and too uncomfortable to endure. After 15 minutes of misery, we turned our paddle boat in and left with a bad taste in our mouth. read more

I'm giving them a "1 star" rating because that is the lowest available, had there been a "-5" star rating I would've given them that. I've been to few different countries, written lots of reviews on Google and hands down they have the WORST customer service. They were the rudest to us, not sure if the owner was having a bad day or if she didn't like the way we look. Either way that is not the way to treat a customer. They lost our business forever. If you read my other Google reviews you will see I've never given such low ratings. I've even gone so far as to add a new missing business in Google just so I can write a 5 star review. They told us the ocean is rough and that they will give us a free ticket so we can come back another day, made us come back to the dock and after we got out of our boat and returned the life jacket Laura told us we can go now. After we told her what we were told she said it was a miscommunication on their part and we can go now. They were no apologies. We we're treated as if we there stealing her boat and using it for free, I was never in my life spoken to by anyone. We didn't even get to finish our full 1 hour that we paid for, we were 22 minutes into it by then. No refund, just humiliation. I guess she knows there isn't any other kayaking business in the area so she thinks no matter how she treats customers people will always come back to her. read more

I have been kayaking many times. The experience offered here is less exciting than others as the boating area is quite small. More importantly, the boats are very flimsy compared to other places. A tiny wave swept my mom's kayak upside down! My siblings and I were very excited (it was highlight of our summer) but I'm sure other patrons wouldn't say the same. When I first came here, I wasn't expecting much, mostly due to the relatively poor Yelp reviews. But hey, it's relatively cheap, it's local, and I really wanted to kayak, so I grabbed a handful of friends and we went. What I actually experienced wasn't nearly as bad as some of the reviews would seem to suggest. For one, they got a few new kayaks, and whatever old ones they had were very clean. The paddling area was nice--rather small, definitely smaller than other local areas like Long Beach--but it was still pleasant and relatively free of heavy boat traffic. The best part was getting to see the small "marine mammal dock" full of sea lions. You don't even need to paddle that far out to see them. I'll be honest, I definitely spent the majority of my time just sitting there and watching the sea lions! They will some times slip off the dock and play in the water in and around your kayak, so that's fun! The service was great, the workers were very attentive and got several groups moving along speedily. No complaints there. I'd definitely recommend this place to anybody looking for a cheap, quick trip out on the water. Oh, and anybody who loves watching sea lions up close ;) read more

Yay for pedal boats! The guy was really friendly and we saw lots of sea lions :). Don't get too close to the rocks or the birds might attack you... maybe. For 10 dollars a person, it wasn't that bad. Since it wasn't busy the guy said that we could go as long as we wanted (its usually 10/hr). We didn't end up going for more than an hour though. They don't validate parking anymore but you can probably go to "On the Rocks" to get your ticket validated. I don't think they care whether you eat there or not. read more

Overcharged us and when called out, slammed her board down into the table in front of my family and didn't even apologize. My dad and I both called her out on her rudeness and she acted like everything was fine? Uh huh yeah right.. Whatever, went along with it because we drove over an hour just to enjoy the experience but sadly, she ruined it for me. Honestly, cannot get over the fact that my mother payed her hard working money for our family, a group of 7, just to receive service like this. Will NOT be coming back EVER. As for the other employees, they were fine. Maybe she can learn from tips from them? They lie you down at a 45 degree angle and you have to paddle a lot in order to get the boat moving, it's a very stiff paddle. This place is OK, but there are better options out there. read more

Its a nice thing to do after dinner, to help burn some calories. However if you are tall dont use the white 2 seater paddle boats. You will crunch your legs, throw off your back, and for the most part you will be in pain for the entire ride. Yellow paddle boat is bigger but beware, they are not very child friendly. Went out kayaking today, with the rest of my family using a peddle boat... the price is high for the crappy gear they give you... Pretty much your getting the cheapest used gear possible and paying an average of $5 more per person compared to other places I've been to. My daughter is 11 and she mention the "difference in gear" compared to other places we have rent from. They do have a monopoly here, so you are S.O.L. They don't let you leave the break water, but with their ores and life jackets you probably don't want to. You wouldn't be able to paddle your way out of trouble. There isnt much to cruise and see. my daughter and I pretty much circled the sea lion dock, ran over to the charter boats, came back to the sea lions and just chilled for 10 mins. The dock full of sea lions, is cool... Tips!!!! There is a spot where fish are, but the water is pretty cloudy.. You might be able to take some pallets and get the fish to come up- just watch the sub and you see where to go.. It's all right there. read more

Stopped by after visiting the Pier when we saw they had a half submerged vessel called the "Looking Glass". Awesome ride, slow and steady so my son was really able to enjoy the ride. Got to see a ton of sea lions while sitting above. We were later instructed to head downstairs to check out the different fish he would be feeding. Overall very cool! Perfect for kiddos! When I finish kayaking here me and my boyfriend had to buy a shirt because we couldn't take the smell of life jacket anymore .the service was okay but they don't pay any attention to anyone so if it's your first time I would not do it here they do not help or show u how to kayak . Prices are good it was $ 25 for a couple kayak for one hour. They didn't tell us when to return back and we forgot to check our time so we arrived a little early back . Also you can only kayak a small amount of water because or all the ships and boats . They also make u sign a few papers with your ID # which I didn't have so they let me use my phone number. We came here with a group of 6 to rent the pedal boats. Adults are $10/hr and kids are $5/hr. We were told the two seaters are easier to pedal than the 4 seaters, but an adult needs to be in each one. Just sign some forms, strap on a life jacket and you are off. You have to stay within the harbor area and away from the rocks. One hour was plenty of time, not much to see within the harbor. Had a good time though. CASH ONLY. read more

This place is where I have experienced the worst customer service of my life. The in charge there was exceptionally rude. We were asked to sign a form before getting a paddle boat, but no rules were told to us which is normally the case with any other boat rental company. They go over the rules with you. Having said that when we were boating in the waters and went into the ocean (Not too deep to be specific) we were asked to come back by onw of their employees saying that we would be given a ticket that could be used another day for this ride, since the waters were bad. We paddled back to the dock where the manager got all rude and asked us to leave saying that they would not give us anything and that we are done. The way she spoke and dealt with the situation was the worst I have ever seen. Inspite of the miscommunication being with the employees she got all rude and spoke horribly to us. They not only lost customers but also ruined someone's perfectly nice day. read more
