What an awesome place. I've spent many summer days paddle boarding around the marina thanks to Paddlehouse! Then in October for the witches paddle... and now for the Santa Paddle Visit. Great local spot! Definitely check it out.

Really awesome location right off the harbor. Very easy to get setup. My dog and I had an awesome time.

Live this little shop. I used to rent here before i purchased my own board but still Come often in the summer when my friends need to rent. They have easy access to dock. The guys who work here are so nice and patient. If you've never paddled before they'll give you a quick tutorial. When I first brought my dog they even came out with me the first time to make sure she did ok! More than I ever asked for! Great spot abs very nice staff!

As the weather gets warmer and we approach the heart of the summer, I highly recommend you check out Paddle House when you're in the area. Newby to the sport? Not a problem! The staff is super friendly and will give you a tutorial of all you need to know before heading out to the marina. This includes your paddle, board, flotation decide, and life jacket. And in case you need a space to put shoes and other personal items away, they have lockers available for rent in the shop! The most important rule they have is to have fun or you'll be sent back out! HAHA But who wouldn't be able to have fun seeing the national state fish, seals in quantity, and plenty of birds. If you're lucky maybe even a whale! I recommend you go early and maybe not on a super sunny day so you can have the marina all to yourself and your party. It can be more tasking with boats entering and leaving to which you have to let through and such.

For my lesson which was additional, I was expecting more instruction but I guess we all need to just try this once and no amount of instruction will prevent an epic splash and free entertainment for passersby. Lol. Had a blast with my surfer friend who has only paddleboarded a few times. Plus I got me some sun. 1.5 hours to paddle or "hang" in the lagoon. Will definitely do this again. Was surprised I didn't get a sales pitch to join as a member or to bring friends in for a group event. Park by R10 Social House. Plenty of places to eat at afterwards.

Great service! Parker was very helpful. $35 for 1.5 hours Free lockers if you bring your own lock. They sell locks here too. Yelp shows this business as closed on Mondays and it was totally open Call ahead of time to confirm. Better parking is north of the parking structure. Would def come here again!

Having a blast on the water!

Hands down best place to rent, store your board or join monthly membership! Love love love this place and can't say enough about all the cool folks who work there! Love the merchandise they carry - essentials for whatever you need in the water - before, during and after! Members get access to their sauna... which is so amazing after a paddle/dip in the ocean! We absolutely love heading out and over to the shole - it's a perfect place for a dip and to find lost treasures of paddlers past! Hahaha. They offer cool night LED tours - can't wait to do this... looks both terrifying and cool!

I was more than pleasantly surprised! Out of the three places we'd visited I'd only previously been to one of them. It was great being able to just sit down and take in a nice snapshot of each place while enjoying a delicious beverage. Each drink offering was different from the rest. It definitely made me want to go back to EACH place to try not only other drinks, but FOOD! It was nice to be provided with a sampling of each location....sort of a 'try it before you buy it' type of approach. I also learned a lot about the musical history of Hermosa. I'd only known about the jazz roots embedded in The Lighthouse, so it was nice to learn there was more. I like this tour because it really is something different. I would suggest leaving the evening open afterwards so you can explore more of the places on Pier Avenue or go back to the ones you just visited. It's such a vibrant location. Had a great time!

South Bay Archery was also extremely generous and accommodating over the holidays, as our family was searching for a fun activity to do on New Year's eve with some friends. We booked a private party with Coach Paul and Coach Lani and everyone had a wonderful time! They made sure all 9 participants learned proper safety protocols, and taught our group how to shoot since some of us had no prior experience. They kept a good pace, explaining the challenges of shooting from further distances, and made things extra fun by creating a competition at the end, with the winner getting a prize! After that we relaxed and ate in the party room upstairs, which overlooked the shooting area. We all had a GREAT TIME! I encourage anyone looking for a fun group activity to check out South Bay Archery Lessons! I can't say enough about the kind, warm and engaging nature of both Coach Paul and Coach Lani, as well as the exceptional care and professionalism they put into all they do! Porsche pointed out the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Hollywood that she attended. She gave us pointers on how to shop at farmers' markets and buying produce and allowed us a few minutes of free time to shop on our own. Once back at EATZ, where Porsche is also a cooking instructor, we had Mimosas and snacked on baguette slices and very fresh goat cheese in olive oil that she purchased from the market. We began with the panne cotta - yes, life is uncertain, start with the dessert!! This dish needed time to set. We prepared the fresh beautiful strawberries for the dessert as well. Each team of 2 had their own cooking station and burner. Just perfect for all of us. We made the pasta with basil and set it aside to soften. We worked on the roasted tomatoes with garlic and then the stuffed mushrooms with spinach, shallots, garlic and cream cheese, sprinkled with bread crumbs. We began the meat sauce and when the roasted tomatoes were ready, Porsche pulsated them in a food processor and added it to our meat sauce. Our workout began as we rolled out our pasta. Yes, that was definitely a workout, but so rewarding. We all got the technique down. We learned the correct thickness of the pasta and how to cut and separate them before cooking. Definitely a good appreciation for handmade pasta!! We were then treated to a delicious meal of our own creation!! Devine!! Porsche will be emailing all the recipes after the class. My daughter and I highly recommend take a great afternoon with Porsche and taking her class. She has several menus to select from and we will definitely return in the future!! I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised. This tour was full of great information about San Pedro and fantastic food. Chef Porsche was very knowledgable and suggested of other places to visit besides the stops on our tour. The tour included 5 stops and it covered burgers, cuban food, fish and chips, bake goods and a stop at a tea house. Our tour started off at Bunz Gourmet Burgers ( small mom and pops shop) fantastic burger. Will have to come back for more. We went to Cuban restaurant called Punto Cubano with great character and decor. There we had a cuban sandwich that was amazing. Obviously there's other stuff in the menu that you are more than welcome to order at your own cost. We had a delicious flan :-) we had a few stops in between and learned about the San Pedro Port history and other spots. We then hit The Whale and Ale (English pub) for some delicious fish and chips. Alcohol not included in the tour but available for purchase. I couldn't help myself so I had a guinness. We then went over to Hojas for some delicious chai tea that hit the right spot. Hard to pick a favorite as everything was very very good, and if I may add the food portions are just right. Enough to leave you stuffed. Overall the tour was fantastic. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for something new and fun to do. It supports local businesses and is something that you can do on a date, with family, friends or even Solo. You'll meet great people on the tour. I look forward to future tours from Chef Porsche. Thank you Porsche for introducing me to a new are in San Pedro that I would've not know about on my own but will definitely be visiting again soon.

And who in Southern California is so ready for no more rain?! Well, we had no idea what awaited us when we made our booking online for Quest Room's Polar Station. For those new to the world of escape rooms, Quest Room is probably the gold standard by which all other rooms are measured, so much so we've done almost - ALMOST - all their rooms, as long as they accommodated two people, because we mostly play as a duo. So we were a little surprised that there was actually a location we had not visited - at South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach - and more than thrilled that all their rooms welcome 2 players or more. The mall was closed on Christmas Day, so we were grateful to receive not just an email (went straight to the spam folder) but also a text from Quest Room letting us know this in advance, and also where to park. Quest Room was having some electrical problems, so the lobby was dimmer than usual, but we were oblivious to the difference, so excited were we to get started. We had watched (and I had read the book) The Terror on Netflix, and we were quite ready for our own Antarctic adventure. Ours was the first game of the day, and Jason introduced himself as our game host at 11am sharp. We did not need the restrooms this visit but it was offered along with a verbal run through of the game rules. In fewer words than the intriguing writeup on their web site, we "woke up" cold, sore and alive after our research plane crashed in snowy desolation in an abandoned station that we need to get working to call for help. This was like something out of "Yellowjackets" and elicited a similar "ooh!" when we saw the room. The décor was perfect, even with low light, but in theme, and the props were authentic with just the right amount of creep factor. There was no climbing or crawling required, and we wouldn't be concerned with playing the room with the whole family. Polar Station is what we consider a G3 (third generation room with quite a bit of whizzbang and FX) - with a couple of G1 locks, so even though we were advised ahead of time that some locks needed some dedicated (and delicate!) handling, it slowed us to our record-keeping time of ... 44:59 for the 45-minute room! We both agreed that our favourite task was opening the bathroom door and doing the wrapping needed - since it's Christmas! - and the rescue was epic. We felt most challenged with not remembering that we are in South Pole, not North, so crucial elements were topsy-turvy, but all the clues and puzzles were pretty logical and true to theme. Jason did a super job pacing us, and with our photos - which we received even before we got to our car - and we so appreciate his working on Christmas Day. Once again, even though Quest Room is maybe on the higher end as far as cost, they deserve every one of those five stars, both for the room and for our game host. Thank you for letting us have snow for Christmas! We can't wait to visit again in the new year! This review is triplicated on Yelp, Google and TripAdvisor.
