The special from the night we were here: baked chicken with tomatoes and peppers, crispy potato wedges and a small salad
    Brooke O.

First time in Scotland and this is the first hotel on our journey through Scotland. Getting there took much longer than we thought and we were exhausted. We had booked through a third party site and thought check-in was only until 9pm. We had not eaten in hours and thought we'd have to check-in and drive back to Inverness for dinner after doing some research for a place. We were delighted receive a warm welcome at the Clansman, from who we assumed is the manager. He also asked if we needed a table for dinner, told us to take our time and he would let the kitchen know we'd be ordering. We appreciated his thoughtfulness and we we thrilled to not have to drive anymore or seek out food. The food was really delicious, too. I had the baked chicken with tomatoes and red peppers. It came with crispy potato wedges and a salad. My husband had the venison & haggis served with carrots and potatoes. It really took a lot off our minds and we love it here already. Highest compliments to the chef! The rooms are not fancy, but they are clean and spacious with a beautiful view overlooking Loch Ness! Breakfast is also included, which is a plus since it's one less stop we have to make when we want to get an early start.

Staff are rude, wont share WiFi password unless you purchase something but even then won't give it to you and insist on entering in your phone directly. We had to sit here for 2 hours waiting for a tour. Would not recommend.

We ate here on our last night in Inverness after a very long day on a tour. We did not have…read morereservations but the restaurant was accommodating and kind. The World Cup Game was on so it was lively and fun. I will tell you, this was some of the best seasoned food we had the entire time we were in the UK (two weeks). Finally we didn't feel the need to add salt to something. The flavor was just spot on. My husband had the beer steak pie with puff pastry, I had the Cullen skink, my son had a pizza (I can't remember if it was on the kids' menu or not) and my daughter had a Caesar salad with chicken, which she eats a lot at home and had been craving. Both the skink and the stew were perfectly flavored! The fish in the stew was tender and so was the steak in the pie. If we ever go back to Inverness, we will be sure to be returning to Johnny Foxes. Oh! And our waiter was wonderful! I don't remember his name but a young blonde man with a mullet kind of haircut. Thank you to him!

We dropped by for an early dinner and got seated right away in a booth. The menu is broadly pub fare, with a focus on burgers and a couple of more upscale dishes (including an excellent fried camambert). We split the camambert (panko crusted and served with a fig and onion jam); my wife had a vegan Scotch broth + house made bread + tomato & pesto bruschetta, while I went with the highland burger: haggis on top of 6oz of dry aged Angus beef. The burger was exceptional, with a deep and pleasantly gamey flavour while the haggis added some richness. Paired with a pint of a local cask ale (Cromarty Brewing Happy Chappy pale), it was as good as dinner as we could've imagined on our first night in the Highlands.

We were taken to our table upstairs, frankly it was warm and a bit uncomfortable. Our server was a charming man, who unfortunately for him was working along on his first day. The restaurant was short staffed and they assisted him very well. He apologized multiple times. The goat cheese salad starter was reasonably good, certainly not great. My wife selected the halibut special that was frankly too salty. My choice of the monkfish was much better. On the recommendation of the people at the next table, I ordered the cheese board dessert. It was the best part of my meal.

American Tourist here…read more Here is the racist or possibly just rude conversation that happened as we entered the restaurant. Me: Table for 2 please Old man (i assume the owner): {blank stare}...sorry I can't help you i'm thinking this guy is kidding and chuckle a little and pause for his reply He then points around the restaurant and says we don't have space. I look around and there are like plenty of open tables I look back at the old guy and he pauses...and says they are ALL reserved. queue awkward silence....now everyone is staring at us and i'm like ok let's GTFO. They'll get you what you need. The langoustines were delicious and perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. I can't remember what my husband had, but he liked it; it might have been a venison dish. I really enjoyed their selection of Fenitman's sodas. It was a great find, and I left feeling quite satisfied. Call ahead for a reservation, because they get booked up really quickly. As soon as we got off the boat, I called to make a reservation and we high-tailed it over there before everyone else figured out that it was the closest place to eat.
