I've been to Coatroom a number of times before. I became unsatisfied with their service, and returned to my old salon. I decided to give them a try again about 4 months ago. I had a mail technician, who was fabulous and had great attention to detail. I decided to keep giving them a shot. The last two times I have been have been utterly disappointing. I went a few days ago for a step up mani and again today for a step up pedi. Both appointments were rushed. The technician missed several of the key advertised "perks" of the step up, most notably the 20 minute massage. My feet still have calluses on them as well. I will be thinking twice before returning. read more

Very cute nail salon and very friendly staff! I had a standard pedicure that was nice, but not amazing. The foot scrub with a foot paddle was very weak. I'm used to a little more scrubbing on the foot and toes. I loved the sugar scrub though! Finally, the chair was not a massage chair, and I had a very hard time getting comfortable. As being comfortable and relaxed is why you get a pedicure, Coatroom won't be my first choice to return. read more

Fabulous gel manicure! And they are open until 8pm. The problem is the cost. This place is much more expensive than other salons in the area. I won't come back due to the cost. But that's a shame because the quality was great. read more

I went to this salon about 4 weeks ago and I'll never be back. The polish on one of my nails bubbled and peeled within 60 minutes! I had gone to the salon around 10:30am for a mani-pedi and the pedicure was fine but she nicked two of my fingers until they bled. And I don't mean a little. She had to stop everything and focus on stopping the bleeding for a bit. But I just chalked that up - accidents happen. But then about an hour after I got home one of my nails started peeling; as if the polish was a sheet that you could grab a piece of and pull all the polish off my nail. So I went back to show them and was told they were busy and I had to wait. As in, wait for them to finish the people they were working on and the full sets of the 2 people already waiting before they would repair my ONE nail. After 30 minutes and the tech who did my nails that morning started soaking the polish off so at least that happened while I waited. Getting the polish off was a slightly painful process since it was one of the fingers that was nicked that morning and the combo of a fresh cut and polish remover burns like a mother. As she was doing the nail the manager (I guess?) came over and they began to discuss what to charge me for repairing the nail! I think not! As soon as she was done I hightailed it out of there but, within 4 days, all the nails looked terrible and had started peeling. I had to go to a different salon and have them redone the following weekend so it was basically just a colossal waste of money. read more

Well, I really wanted to like Coatroom, but my experience just wasn't that great. I think it has the potential to be good, but it just needs to work out some things first in these first few months of business. I really liked Coatroom's website and the fact that you can easily book an appointment online. My appointment was off to a good start when I showed up at the very clean-looking salon and was greeted by the friendly owner who explained all the different polish brands housed in the color tower, which is a floor-to-ceiling, four-sided tower with 15 rows of nail polish. The tower is a cool concept and looks nice, but unfortunately it just doesn't really work. First off, I'm the type of person who likes to actually see the color of the nail polish in the bottle as opposed to nail swatches, which the salon does have on hand. I feel like I get a better idea of the color of the polish seeing it in the bottle, but the color tower is so tall, that there's five rows above me that I can't even reach to look at the bottles individually. Yes, I could've asked someone to get bottles for me, but they were so high up, that I just couldn't even really get a good look at them, so it seemed pointless to look that high up for a color to use. Also, while I liked that the nail polish bottles were organized by brand, they were not organized by color family/range within the brand, which I see often at other salons and really like because I think it makes choosing a color--particularly within a certain color range--much easier. It's those little touches that really make a world of difference. So, I sat down with my nail technician who was going to perform a "step-up pedicure"on my feet. She was nice enough, but I never got her name, and unfortunately, I could barely understand her and she could barely understand me, so communication was quite challenging. Of course, it's not uncommon to have a nail technician who doesn't speak much English, but it's usually not an issue and it all just works out. However, this technician's lack of English communication skills really hindered the pedicure process and probably was the worst I've ever experienced in my 10+ years of getting my nails done. First, it was quite a challenge to communicate to her that I was getting the "step-up pedicure" and not the standard pedicure. My feet were already soaking in water as I looked for the owner, who must have went into the back somewhere. But, after a few minutes I somehow finally got her to understand what type of service I wanted, and then she began. The pedicure itself was fine, nothing special or outstanding. The one thing that did stand out, however, was as the technician was about to paint my toenails, I noticed she didn't put the toe separators between my toes. So, I pointed that out to her, and the technician couldn't understand what I was talking about. I tried to explain it to her again and she said "OK" as she proceeded to wipe between my toes with a towel and then start painting them again. Luckily, someone else a few seats over was also getting a pedicure, so I had to point to her toes and the separators in between them before my technician finally understood what I was talking about. I don't know if she just forgot that step or what, but that kind of seems like a given before you start painting someone's toes, so I found that to be a little odd. At any rate, I think I'll give this place a few more months to figure everything out before I go back for another nail service. Hopefully, by then it will have improved. read more

Really trendy and nicely kept salon. Always a lot of staff on hand so they're good at being on time with appointments. Huge polish selection which is awesome! Love coming to this place. read more

I've been coming to Coatroom for about a year. While I like much of the staff, Lared is a fabulous nail technician! She's extremely attentive to small details and very consistent. I highly recommend her services. read more

I used to live very close so in theory this should've been my go-to mani/pedi spot, but something is always just off about this place. It's super cute, they have a good color selection and a rewards program that actually does often send discounts as well. But something is up with the staff, namely the receptionist, and I was so relieved to see other reviews pointing this out as well! Thought it was just me. She acts like a customer checking in or asking if there's availability is supremely irritating to her and preventing her from doing something else. Pretty sure that's her job. And this has happened like clockwork every time I've gone. All the manicurists I've had have been no-nonsense, which is fine, but a polite "hello" in the beginning could go a long way. It's never fun to feel like a burden at a salon. It's also typically hard to get an appointment, and they're definitely on the more expensive end of the spectrum, even for Arlington. read more

Truly loved my experience, only reason I gave it a four was because I was in my lunch break and it a lot longer than I expected so my rating really should 4.75. Will definitely return! read more

I came here for the first time a few weeks ago. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure, both with white polish. The pedicure was nice, but nothing special. There are no massage chairs, which I usually don't use anyway, but could turn some people off. I liked the way my pedicure came out. As for my gel manicure, several layers of polish were needed to make the white polish opaque. However this shouldn't have caused my nails to look gloppy and bumpy the way they did. Also the polish line at my cuticles was very uneven and there was plenty of polish stuck to my cuticles that I had to pick off later. I can paint my nails more neatly myself. I wanted to try this place because it looks so cute and modern, but the prices are way too high for me not to be completely pleased w/ the look of my nails. Also, at my regular nail place they offer champagne and wine and charge less. I was not offered either here. I will most likely not return. read more

i've had 3 horrible experiences here and I regret giving it another chance each time. the first time i was getting my sns dipping powder removed and the lady was using the drill tool so hard that she burned my nail beds so badly my nails were so weak after. the second time i went to get sns dip, i came in without dip on my nails and it still took 2 hours for the service. i then told her i didn't want to get my eye brows waxed anymore bc the nails took so long and she ignored me and got the wax ready anyways. and finally the last time, my manicure chipped after 2 days so i had called to get it fixed and the manager (don't know his name but he is a man) had told me just to walk in and tell them i need a repair. i did just that and the lady CHARGED me after for the repair for a full price dipping powder mani. i paid bc i realized when wasnt understanding with the intention of calling this manager and explaining. he yelled at me and told me too bad and that i messed up. so many people have told me not to go here. should have listened. read more

I've been going to the coatroom for almost a year now, it's so clean, the technicians are great, appointments are always on time. Whenever I go elsewhere my nails would easily chip and break. I look forward to my appointments with Michelle or Lyly, they're the best. read more

Aesthetically this salon is great. Nice decor and large selection of nail polish brands. The talent here though is extremely disappointing. When asking the lady who was doing my pedicure do a deeper cuticle cutting on the sides of my big toes she had no idea where to start. Another woman from a different customer had to come over and TEACH HER how to handle this. I've never had someone not know how to cut cuticles. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt that she was new on the floor but regardless there was minimal training put into this employee. Oh and it should be said that this is my second shockingly awful experience at Coatroom. I came a year ago when they opened and stupidly decided to give it another shot a year later....don't waste your money, there are much more competent salons in the area! read more

Don't bother going there is you have or want acrylic. I went to get my nails filled and was told they don't do it.

Ordinary I would have given the coatroom a glowing review but when I book an appointment and show up to a shop as chilly as the inside of a fridge and find out that the heat has been out all day but the person booking the appointments for my daughter and myself neglected to tell us, I think this deserves to be noted. I had gel manicure and my daughter had a pedicure. By the time her pedicure had dried her feet were so cold they were almost purple. She did however tell me that the manicurist did attempt to help warm things up by adding extra warm towels, adding extra hot water during her pedicure. My general feeling is that the person booking our appointments as well as all the other appointments during the day should have told the clients how cold the salon was. I made note of the clients entering the salon while I was sitting there keeping their coats on during their services and never once did the person at the desk apologize for how cold it was inside the salon. read more

Similar to others' sentiments, I WANTED to love Coatroom. Great location, fun and chic atmosphere. The owner was incredibly nice and the service was good. Unfortunately no one asked me for water even though there are record high temperatures in the area and I had just walked 20 minutes in the heat. I got a gel manicure and a pedicure, which ended up costing $63. I didn't have gel on before, and most places charge 35 dollars for removal of gel + new gel manicure but 30 dollars for just the gel manicure without removal. I was expecting it to be a little on the cheaper side. The chairs were slightly uncomfortable and the pedicure was OK. They didn't really massage my feet much. Additionally, a huge reason I go in for pedicures is because I get callouses on my feet which they did not remove. Their "scraper" was just painful and didn't really get rid of any dead skin. I would have had to pay 6 more dollars to get "full callous treatment". The gel manicure was pretty good - they were generous with their coats BUT they didn't get rid of the dead/loose skin around my nails which is a big pet peeve of mine. I think the most disturbing part of the whole experience was that the woman doing my nails had a loose bandaid on that kept flapping and exposing her wound as she was working on my hands... she would pause and try and re-attach the bandage but never excused herself to apply a new bandaid or wash her hands.. Nice employees but they need to improve their service if they want to continue charging the prices they do. Hoping that my gel manicure isn't chipped before the week is over... read more

Boy I lucked out when I got Julie. She did an absolutely AMAZING job on my feet. I am extremely picky with my nails, feet, and food and Julie did not disappoint. cute modern place. i visited late friday night 5/27. upscale look, feel and Service. the staff is super attentive and kinda. they gave everyone free shoes which was a very kind gesture. I am throughly happy with my experience and have nothing really to complain about. However, there was one thing about my experience that would turn the average consumer away. I do not understand the language the Asian workers were speaking however I can understand gestures and context clues to piece together what was going on. my nail Lady gestured and asked a coworker to get her a foot scrapper for my feet the lady went in the back to check for one and came back saying there wasn't any more but to just use the one her coworker was using on my friend foot. I couldn't believe she suggested that so I waited to see if she would. sure enough the first lady put the scrapper on the cart at the bottom thinking I wouldn't see and my lady grabbed it but some lotion and began to scrape my foot. I am not one for making scenes and I was with my new coworkers so I didn't want to make a bad first impression so I suppressed my anger however that is very unsanitary. if you run out of supplies I would have been more understanding if you would of said can you wait while I sanitize this item and come back. definitely the 1 huge negative highlight which turns my review from a 5 to a 3. otherwise everything else was nice. read more

Coatroom - The lady that serviced me - Waxing Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

They fit me in for a pedicure a bit after 7:00 on a Saturday, which was great. I personally like that they do not have massage chairs (I'm short and those always hit me in the wrong spot). The plastic liners in the basins are a bit odd, but a great idea from a cleanliness perspective. It was fun to watch the soap/bubble ball dissolve in the water. The standard pedicure was standard. The woman who did my nails did a nice job cutting, shaping and polishing. Best of all, she didn't rip the corner of my toenails out from the skin (which actually happens to me more often than not). For $29, I'll go back read more

I came in with a friend of mine not too long ago. A really pleasant place. I liked how clean everything looked. The staff was great and the lady that did my nails was kind and was willing to help with anything. Overall everything was fine except for the fact that it was freezing! I don't use yelp at all but because of that I made one just to post this up. I would give this place a five star but I was shivering the whole entire time while getting my nails done. It's below freezing outside so why isn't the heat on in this place? Now I'm sick and I'm sure it's because of the lack of the heater turned on. I felt nothing but cold air. Overall great place, but seriously turn the heat on. No one wants to be freezing. read more

Love Coatroom. They are clean and professional and the decor is super cute. The usual receptionist could use some enthusiasm (she always seems like the customers are bothering her). But this doesn't keep me from coming back. I would divulge who my go-to Tech is, but I don't want my secret to get out. Even though I have a nail salon in my apartment building in Pentagon City - I continue to book appointments at Coatroom. They outweigh the convenience! read more

Had called in earlier for an appointment for a manicure. The salon itself is beautiful however my manicurist was rude and short with me upon immediately sitting with me, she even made me stand up and go to pay before even finishing my nails. Because I've never been there before I chose not to question her however during my stay noticed that this wasn't common practice at all. I did chose to get a pedicure after with another tech who was much more gentle and lacked the precious's rude demeanor. I'd also noticed that my manicurist demeanor was much more apologetic and gentle with her white clients and the uncharacteristic attitude she gave me through the whole experience very much felt poignant to my being a young black woman. Will never go to this salon again, I came in to relax and get a simple set of nails and left self conscious and as if I wasn't trusted and valued as a customer because of my blackness in a salon with predominantly white clientele. read more

Beautiful salon but I have chips on my gel mani and pedi within a week. Took FOREVER and the technician was rude. She was so distracted that she nicked the side of my toe with the nail clippers. I should have left then and gone to Pearl River. I decided to stay and they took ten minutes to figure out their credit card system where they ended up putting 4 separate charges for really random amounts on two cards after they insisted the first one wasn't running. Strangely, the two ladies running them kept asking me to pay in cash after they swiped each time and saying that their system was broken. Thank goodness I checked later because otherwise I would have OVER double paid. The only reason they get 2 stars is because they were helpful when I called to tell them they way over charged me. They said they'll refund all of the charges but I wouldn't go back for free at this point. Steer clear! read more

The update reflects a drop in customer service experience. The front host(s) are less friendly. A younger nail technician was constantly looking at her phone with each new text message throughout the time while doing my manicure. I ended up with the worst looking and shortest lasting manicure I've had in years. The experience struck me as akin to a bunch of amateurs thinking that all that needed to be done was set up shop and people will come. read more

This salon has gone downhill since it opened. All the polish looked old and it was disorganized. The technician did not polish my nails to the edge, so my nails looked unfinished. She then corrected with a partial overcoat, leaving polish on my skin and failing to do a clean up around the edges. Also, she was put off that I did not want a gel -- my thinking was that she didn't care to do a good job for a simple (less expensive) standard manicure. Honestly, save the $19 and do a manicure at home. I will not be returning. So disappointing because it used to be my go-to nail salon. read more

The pedicure was good, and I liked the ambience, but I am NOT a fan of the removable plastic liners in the foot baths - what a terrible environmental choice! I wish people would think a little bigger and be a little more responsible in the face of climate change, it's people's inability to connect their personal behaviors to larger global effects that got us into this mess. I see businesses that produce a lot of unnecessary waste as irresponsible and a bit behind the times. read more

My 5 stars are only for Taylor. Coatroom has a nice ambience but Taylor is the reason I keep coming back. The first time she did my nails, I actually thought she was the manager. She seems to be the only one working at the salon that ever really knows what to do or how things work - the other girls asked her questions pretty often. I've been going to Coatroom for a little over a year and as time has gone on, the drama between certain workers has gotten worse. It's bound to happen, but it's sad that it happens in front of customers. The girl at the front (cashier?) is rude to everyone else in the salon, customers and coworkers alike. I don't know how she's still there. But if you go to Coatroom, 100% you must use Taylor ... she has given me the best pedicures and manicures I have ever had. And she's super funny and sweet (& never rushes if you ask her to change something). read more

I wanted to love it here. My gel chipped after 4 days which was disappointing since the technician took a while to make sure they were done right. The salon is cute and fun and they do have a wide variety of top line polishes. read more

Just had a pedicure here and while the decor and atmosphere were nice, the pedicure experience left much to be desired. The pedicure chairs were not massage chairs (as all other pedicure places have) and were merely seats with cushions . Sitting during the pedicure was not a pleasant experience. They r really good at what they do, but I had this experience with my appointment scheduling. I had booked an appointment for a particular day two months prior, called and rescheduled it for sunday 11.00 am over the phone. They did as required and when I showed up for my appointment they didnt have me on the list. I was so annoyed as I was going on vacation the same day evening. The girl taking care of register was not helpful at all. And also didnt have basic courtesy taking to the other colleagues as well. As a customer its very annoying and disrespectful to watch. The service by the colleagues was awesome. They definitely do their job upto the mark. read more

If I could give this zero stars I would! This is the snobbiest, most pretentious nail salon I have ever experienced. I work next door so I went in 2 different days to see if I could get an eye brow wax. I happened to be short on time both days and didnt have time for a mani or pedi. Anyway, BOTH times I was asked if I had an appointment. Apparently I wasnt good enough because I was told no one "could fit me in" even though the place was dead. I figured it was a walk in place? Yes? I was told yes it is but I would need to come back in an hour. Now if it happened once I wouldnt be pissed, but the second time I was. Really? Apparently they dont want the business. The stuck up receptionists need to get a grip and stop pretending they work in Manhattan. (Which by the way is where Im from-and I have never been treated so badly. Do not go here. read more

I planned to write a very critical review, but Coatroom's amazing customer service changed my mind. Coatroom is an awesome salon, very nice with reasonable prices. I was disappointed with my mani/pedi only because the manicurist spilled red polish on my brand new leather sandals. The manicure/pedicure itself was excellent. I complained and got $5 off my bill, which left me pretty disappointed given that these were nearly $100 shoes bought the day prior. When I got home, I had an email waiting from the manager asking for my address and the link to the shoes so they could overnight me a new pair. I was very impressed and will definitely be back! read more

Not a great place to bring a kid. Brought my daughter for a mommy and me mani/pedi - her first time - for her birthday and even though there were other employees hanging out (looking at their phones), they just had one employee working on both of our nails, which meant that, on my daughter's birthday, she was waiting a lot. I elected not to get my manicure because I didn't want my daughter to have to wait even longer. Also, the reason we came all the way here (from NE DC) is because I read that they would do nail art. My daughter wanted art on her nails, but the nail tech would only do one nail per hand. I would have of course paid more per nail, as is listed on their site, but the tech said just one. Also, there was no foot soak or anything for my daughter. It just didn't feel special at all. And my pedicure was dented (not by me). I left without having my toe polish fixed just because I didn't want my daughter to wait anymore. Also, the checkout was not handled well. There was a male employee who seemed to be very short and bossy with the staff, even though the female employee was clearly struggling with the checkout (whether she had charged me double or voided the second round of my card). read more
