I have honestly been putting off visiting this salon (despite being super close to where I live) after reading all of the terrible reviews, but I was quite pleasantly surprised after my visit today. Erin did a phenomenal job on my gel mani including working around the cuticle I had been gnawing on earlier that morning. My eyebrow wax was done by a different person, but it turned out well too. If I had any concerns at all, it would be that they don't serve wine (I'm pregnant-- I wouldn't have been indulging anyway) and I didn't get the impression that they were very walk in friendly. I arrived at 11 and was told there were no openings until 11:45 and then I came back at 11:30 and there were at least two techs waiting for business who seemed confused that I had left and come back in the first place. Other than that, very very happy with the salon and will be returning-- I just recommend making an appointment on the website or calling ahead. I personally think the appointment thing is more for show and exclusivity (I literally would have been happy just being told to wait 20 minutes instead of being directed to leave and come back) but hey, whatever works. Still receives five stars from me! read more

I made the mistake of buying a Groupon for a mani-pedi. I called to make an appointment and was told I could come in an hour and a half before closing. I felt like I was putting them out when i came in. I got the pedicure which was ok, but the manicure was horrible. The woman doing my manicure kept getting up to count receipts, manage the register and clean and organize rather than finishing my manicure. i got one coat of clear polish and wasn't even attended to after that. There was still plenty of time before closing and I was really left feeling like they'd forgotten about me. I'm not sure if I was treated that way because I bought a Groupon or because they didn't feel like being there. I have tried this place twice and will never go back again. read more

I love Taylor and the cleanliness and convenience. It's the only nail salon I go to! I have been getting my nails done for years and I am SUPER picky about my nail techs. Taylor is far and away one of the best I've ever had. She can do so much more than the basic colors. She is great with managing ingrowns, ticklish feet and doesn't make you bleed (all of which can be hard to come by sadly)! Hope Coatroom keeps her happy because I'm a loyal customer! read more

Difficult to get an appointment and they didn't seem to be available for walk ins. After I got the appointment part down I had a great experience. I got all white nails in the white OPI gel finish. Two weeks later they are nearly perfect except for one thing....my white nails are now light pink after wearing a very red dress. It doesn't bother me though and this is not something the nail salon can control. Great overall experience and the price is great. I will be back! read more

Awful experience. Went for a pedicure. The chair was pushed too far back so I was at an awkward angle for the nail technician to reach me. I wish that would explain the bad service, but no. Tech applied an exfoliating scrub to my legs but didn't rinse it off completely. I walked out with gritty legs that started itching on the drive home. It's been several hours and my legs are still itchy and getting sore. The polish has gaps in it and technician "dinged" one of my great toes trying to put on my flip flops. Rather than redoing the nail she applied more polish over the top of the large marred spot. Result....a splotchy rippled polish surface that looks terrible. Speaking of looking terrible despite being pumice my feet are drier than before the pedicure. She actually caused my feet to start cracking. I should have gone to my usual Ivy Nails. This place is terrible. read more

Updating my review to say that I got a full refund and a free do-over after visiting them and expressing my disappointment. That was nice of them. read more

I have been going to Coatroom for just about a year for both manicures and pedicures. I really love the atmosphere, it is very bright, clean, and fresh. The team is always very friendly and engaging and make you feel comfortable. The prices did go up a month or so ago, but the last time I was there the receptionist made me aware of the increase in price which was appreciated. I also like their rewards program and they will make a note to recognize repeat customers. While I don't have a big problem with the increase in price, it would be nice if a another (larger) discount could be given for a manicure/pedicure combination. I would be willing to have a pedicure more often if that were the case. I'll keep coming back! read more

This place is absolutely breathtaking and the staff is amazing! Everyone is super professional and of corse do an amazing job everytime I've gone there! read more

Terrible customer service. I came in for a gel manicure and picked a light pink color. The lady grabbed the wrong color (dark red) and I told her that was not the color I chose. She was so rude and grabbed another color.... again the wrong color and I pointed to the one I wanted. She rolled her eyes and just kept putting on the color that I didn't want. I said one more time that I didn't want that color and she ignored me. She rushed through my nails and didn't take her time at all. This is the worst service I've ever had and she tipped herself without asking me... completely baffled at the service here. Will not be back. read more

My gel manicure from here only lasts a couple of days, have gotten 4! Also for gel the selection in really low, go to Nolas, Tina's gel manicures last 3 to 4 weeks, not a single chip read more

Stopped in last weekend with my girlfriend for a manicure. We booked the appointment online and it was super easy. The place has a an upscale feel to it and the service is fantastic. The location is also very convenient. I would definitely recommend Coatroom. I've been to a few other salons over the years, and Coatroom is by far the best. read more

Beautiful Brand New Salon! Pricey & gel only lasted a week for me. OK selection of colors.. would of expected more Gel options at a salon like this. It would of been nice if someone offered us beverages + water during our service. read more

Just had a 100% perfect gel mani/pedi from Chloe! Only reason for the four stars? No massage chairs! Love the decor, I can book online, everything is super-sanitary - fresh tools for each client, etc. But I do love me a massage chair! read more

I love this nail salon, they are great and fast paced . You guys need to come to this salon they also have great prices. The salon is very clean and the furniture is super comfy. Also the staff are very friendly and kind. read more

DONT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T WANNA BE RUSHED! Go bring your money somewhere else! For the money you pay, its not gonna be worth it.

While the ambience of Coatroom is bright and cheery, the services provided and service of the staff are absolutely not up to par. The receptionist has barely acknowledged my entrance both times that I have visited Coatroom. The technicians, though not chatty (which I don't mind, as I'm not a huge talker), barely engage, but use head nods to suggest needing a hand, or placing a hand under the UV lights. The last time I was there (the visit that prompted this review), I asked for my cuticles not to be touched, a request that was barely appeased. Then, four THICK coats of polish were applied, right up to my cuticles, creating bubbles on multiple nails. When asked for this to be touched up, my technician told me that the bubbles were there because I wouldn't let her touch my cuticles, but that I'd be fine. Two days later, the polish had peeled up and would get stuck while running my fingers through my hair in the shower, and by day 5, three nails' polish had peeled completely off, prompting me to remove the polish on all nails. The best I was offered when calling and talking to the staff was 15% off a service, which is laughable for a gel manicure that lasted five days. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Coatroom - Peeling nails after 2 days...hardly a quality gel manicure. - Waxing Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

The salon itself is clean and beautiful and I loved the plastic bag in the pedicure tub. I was greeted at the door by a nice receptionist. Unfortunately, my technician did not even smile while greeting me, and gave the impression that my manicure and pedicure was an imposition. I don't expect tons of conversation, but a cordial welcome is another thing entirely. I also felt that my manicure itself was less than stellar. While forcefully pushing back my cuticles, she cut me, and I'm really not satisfied with the filing and polish job either. My cuticles feel very rough and I'm quite certain that this polish will chip, and soon. I really wanted to like this place, but I sincerely doubt that I will return. read more

Should have saved $20 and done my nails myself. Quite possible one of the worst manicures I have ever received.

Update: there are more new salons using disposable plastic liners for the pedicure basins, but Coatroom's service is consistently above average. If you are concerned about proper sanitation, I definitely recommend it. read more

This place is very classy and professional. The nail techs were very nice and did a great job with my nails. I loved the decor and atmosphere it was exactly what I look for in a nail salon. I think they could offer more as far as color options and services which is why I didn't give 5 stars read more

This place barely deserves a star. The front desk girl with purple hair is extremely rude and unprofessional. She cut my hand with her finger nails when she snatched the money out of my hands. Place is dirty, slow and is in desperate need of a renovation. The staff is unfriendly. The whole experience was absolutely terrible. Update to the response. You need to hire quality people for your front desk services. read more

Now I'll start off first by saying the space is nice, other than that the workers are rude they don't have massage chairs and I had to tell the lady that was assisting me that she did not buff my nails properly hence why I have lines in my polish. I will never return to this salon read more

I enjoyed my time here, the salon is cute and my nail technician took her time with my gel manicure and made it look great. I used a Groupon and was not treated any differently, as some reviews have said. I made sure to tip based on the original price and not the groupon price. I will be back! read more

I had such wonderful experience with Mina ! She took her time, was super detail-oriented, and I left with my favorite manicure I've ever had! It was such a cute place too! read more

Wish I had trusted the reviews. Despite the upscale branding, customers are not treated to an upscale experience. The customer service here is not good. Nothing egregious but the staff members weren't friendly and in general, they seemed bothered by the customers. Someone walking in the door was greeted with the question, can you wait 15 minutes? The location is convenient, right across from Ballston Quarter. The price is pretty standard but considering the pedicure took 15 minutes and was basically filing and a quick polish, it's not worth it in my opinion. read more

I came here for a gel manicure, pedicure, and an eyebrow wax. The mani/pedi was fine except for the fact that they stained my leggings with nail polish remover, but the woman who waxed my eyebrows took off so much so she could "make them look the same" but now my eyebrows are so small. I don't know when this woman learned that your eyebrows need to be twins, but now my normal looking eyebrows look like someone took a pencil and drew two lines across my face. She also asked if I wanted my lip waxed so clearly she thinks I have a mustache going on too. Thanks. While the free first time waxing is appealing, do not come here for waxing. read more

I work right around the corner from Coatroom and watched the cute space come together so I was very excited to finally be able to go for a pedicure once they opened and settled in. I made an appointment about an hour and a half before hand and I would suggest doing so since they have a steady flow of curious new customers that pop in because of the hip look but they do still welcome walk-ins if the space is available. Coming in I was greeted and seated right away. They do not have massage chairs which I am more than ok with but the seats are stationary so if you have shorter legs you will need more pillows then they have on the seat to give you the little boost up. Again, this didn't bother me at all but I know some go into a nail salon looking for complete luxury. I was getting a basic pedi done and the lady that was assigned to me was very sweet but during my pedi she ended up clipping a large piece of my big toe toenail off. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want her to feel bad or get into any sort of trouble but the bleeding didn't stop and my toe was in a lot of pain. I told her I would come back the next day for her to finish since the bleeding did not let up after many tries. At this point the manager overheard and came over to assist. I know many would be applaud over this situation but it was a complete accident and accidents do happen. I explained the situation to the manager and she was very attentive and provided some of the best customer service I have ever had at not just a nail salon but any other service establishment. I came back the following day and was assigned to a women named Liz who gave me one of the best pedicures I have ever had. I have very rough feet and she went at them with her kit. It did take a little longer since they are only provided with the rough scrubber rather than the shaver (I know the shaver isn't great for you but it is usually the only thing that really works on my feet) but I was very satisfied. Their standard pedicure is $29 which I think if fair priced for the area. It doesn't come with any frills but the environment, customer service, and upbeat tunes make up for it. Oh, also their nail polish selection is amazing! There are so many great brands and colors to choose from be prepared to spend a solid amount of time contemplating your color. Coatroom is off to a great start and they most certainly made me a fan! I would recommend them to my friends and wish them nothing but the best wishes on their future business endeavors! read more

While I enjoyed my experience at the salon I cannot say I would return. It's conveniently located next to my job and the nail polish selection is amazing! However, my gel manicure after 3 days began to chip and 7 days after I have one nail that the Polish completely came off and another nail that is half way off and the rest are peeling up as well. So disappointed. read more

THE NICEST PEDICURE I'VE EVER HAD! The technician ( Nomin ) was extremely competent, trustworthy, accommodating, pleasant and gentle. The salon is clean, bright, fume free, and relaxing and has a fantastic floor to ceiling four sided column of nail colors and choices. I loved the no rush feel and the very hygienic, throwaway plastic lined foot basins, perfect for health obsessed types not to mention the lovely, fizzy bath salt balls and the soothing scrub and massage ! The proximity to the Ballston Metro is reasonable, as are the prices. Can see why it was featured in Washingtonian! read more

Like most salons, it all depends on who you get most of the time. My last couple experiences here have been great but I think it's also a timing factor- when I go during the day on off-peak hours I find I get better service. I also wish they had massage chairs instead of the benches but overall the salon feels clean and I'll keep coming back. read more

Great ambiance, friendly technicians, lots of color choices, and convenient location. Their online booking system is also reliable.

My favorite place to get my nails done in NOVA. Very good point and reward system. Friendly staff and clean.

This was more expensive than getting my nails done in dc and I honestly could have done a better job. The coats are completely uneven, it looks terrible. Thank god I only did my toes. Also the front desk had a huge attitude. The only redeeming qualities are their sign out front is always funny, and the ambiance and decor inside are nice. read more

This place has great potential to be an upscale nail salon but they just can't seem to get it together. Went today for my scheduled 9:00 am pedicure and the salon was closed. No one ever came to open, and I never received a call to follow up for my missed appointment. Total waste of my time. read more

Based on the website, I was expecting a nice, natural nail salon. That was not the case. The stars are all based on the manicurist who did a fantastic job and was very sweet. Me head hurts from all the chemicals....sighhh read more

Not worth the money. The nail technicians are very junior, not as skilled as most nail salons, so they are slower. A gel mani and regular pedicure took an hour and a half +. The person at the front desk never smiled once, she acted like she didn't want to be there. The place is clean and looks nice, but I would never go back. read more

I've been here twice and both times I had Nomin. She's great!! She's has been the only person who had been able to make a gel manicure last a full two week. I love this place and I will be back many times! I love that they use plastic bags to line the pedicure bowl. HUGE plus for me! Huge collection of colors-gel and regular. read more

Had a wonderful pedicure by Molly! Her service was outstanding and I will highly recommend this nail salon for all of your needs

I went to Coatroom for the first time today and I enjoyed my experience. I was a walk-in and was able to get started on my gel manicure right away. The place was clean and nicely decorated. There were a lot of color choices. The woman who did my nails was focused and did a good job. It's a little more expensive than nearby places (gel manicure is regularly 39). However, I had a coupon which helped. The coupons make it more affordable. I will be back to try out waxing and pedicure services as well. read more
