An awesome old school barber shop! I've been coming here for a few years now and won't go anywhere else to get my hair cut! The guys are great and make you feel like a regular even if it's your first time. They do regular hair cuts for regular guys and if you feel so inclined a straight razor shave for that extra close super smooth shave you can't get anywhere but a traditional barber shop. In a time when more and more places are getting bought out by big companies its nice to know the local barber shop is still around to take care of you! read more

UPDATE: Her response below is a LIE. We NEVER came back, NEVER even met this lady. She did NOT cut my son's hair. She offered to, but we couldn't risk going back to someone too unreliable. This is crazy. What does your personal business have to do with you honoring your obligations/ appointments with your customers anyways. Very UNPROFESSIONAL. Please believe the recent reviews about people making appointments and no one being there. I Made an appointment today for 3:30 and arrived on time to see a sign saying they would be back at 3:15. Waited 5min past appt time and still nobody was there. Called and she said she would be there in 20 min, called back and said it would be more like 25 min. This delay would have caused us to miss our next appointment, so we had to leave. NOTE TO OWNER: please don't accept appointments you aren't able to honor. I would have rather you said you couldn't take the appointment so that I could have made other arrangements. That is not good business practices and very unprofessional. I've been going here for several years, off and on, across the change in ownership. Mery has managed to maintain and even improve the atmosphere, and at least for my hair, she is the better barber. I started going here about two months ago because it is close to my work + school. I am very picky with barbers and stylists and I am impressed with the consistency of good haircuts I have gotten here. I usually ask for a low fade with a trim asking to leave it longer on the top. Coastside barbershop in Pacifica is my husband's favorite. He goes there regularly to get haircuts and a shave. Mary, the owner, is delightful. The prices are reasonable. There usually is not much of a wait, if at all. She is opened five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Heloves the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Most of the reviews here are for the former owners / workers who are all no longer there and it is just not the same. The new owner keeps random hours, the hours posted say they open at 11 am, wasted multiple trips there on multiple days only to find them closed after 11 am! We have multiple boys, the new owner cut my boys hair, she did not listen to what they want and hacked their hair - They refuse to go back there now. Coastside Barber Shop is my go to location for a quick and easy haircut. Mery is amazing and is always professional and meets your expectations and requests. She typically accepts walk ins, which is super nice so that I can get a fresh cut anytime on my own schedule. Her "Angel's haircut" is my personal favorite. The ambiance of her shop is also superb. She usually has classic rock playing and is always open to having a nice conversation. In standard barber fashion, she will always ask you while working if you are happy with how it's going-- or if you are wanting something else. Also, if you are frequent client be sure to get your loyalty card punched. You can get your hair cut for free every once in a while! Regardless of the card, Coastside Barber shop offers very affordable haircuts. For the quality of her work, I'd definitely say it is a bargain to come here. I went in for a hair TRIM after coming here for over a year. I have always been fine with my services until my last. My hair was cut 1.5-2.5 inches more than requested, which is devastating to me as I have been trying to desperately grow out my hair for over 3 years. I have always gotten dry cuts here but for some reason my hair was not cooperating, the stylist continued hacking at my hair because it wasn't cooperating, leaving me not only with a lot less length, but horrible, choppy uneven layers. I called and left a voicemail and didn't get a response, I called again and was given no sympathy, no apology, just denial. I came in, showed images of my before and after and a receipt, I continuously was doubted that this was the work of the stylist even with proof. Terrible customer service, haphazard trims, and there is always hair everywhere. She will rush from one client to another even if that means using a tool, seat, etc covered in someone else's hair instead of taking a couple seconds to dust it off. Do not come here period. Got my money back, but doubting a customer and questioning them is terrible customer service. read more

This place is under new ownership I have been seeing Mery at this shop for about a year. Mery always does a really nice job on my hair and my beard. She's also worked with my requests as I've changed lengths. It's a big plus that there's always great music playing. They have drinks and beers for customers and Mery will give you a free shampoo if you need one. Five stars! read more
