This is one of those spots that you're not sure you want to go in. We looked for reviews, they were hard to find. Walked in and no one was in there so I asked if they're open. Blue crab was advertised out front. That's what initially piqued my interest. We almost went with poor man's surf and turf...a burger and a fish sandwich. I was leaning towards the blue crab cake sandwich. Got the crab cake and catfish sandwich. The food was out in ten minutes or less. The fries were seasoned with a Cajun seasoning and also the tartar sauce. They gave us ketchup, hot sauce and tartar with our sandwiches. They were too hot to eat upon first bite! Bartender Greg asked how they were. My response was this is some good sh!t!! Had about six beers on tap, two being IPA's. I would definitely come back here. Greg and Ali are killing it!

Saturday 5/22/21 LOCATION: Closest sit down restaurant to beach! DINNER: I'm going to be forgiving because a year ago everything was shut down because of the Covid pandemic. Now today everyone is acting like it's July 4th weekend-- get your vax! We have come so far in a year. I realize restaurants are opening up and filling up with new staff. I would give them a 2-3 star if it was Normal World, but it's not. I came with my hub and 2 sons. The wait for food was AN HOUR. From ordering to my table, AN HOUR. OMG. Not even exaggerating, but a full hour. The restaurant wasn't full enough to explain the wait for food. The waitress was sooo very apologetic, so I did appreciate that. She explained the normal cook called out sick. The explanation was helpful because I would've up and left. An hour is a long time with a toddler. We kept him busy with snackies. I wish she had brought out the fries from our orders as an "appetizer". I only thought to ask for that when we were close to our hour mark and then our food ended up coming out. When the food did come out, it was amazing. I got fish and chips. Crispy, buttery, and a rich portion of fish. My older son got clam chowder and literally slurped the bowl. They were out of wings due to the national chicken shortage, so my hub got a burger. He ordered medium and it did come out well which is a another problem. Again I'll be forgiving because of Covid World. I'll come back for the food. Hopefully they work out the wait time for food.

Hidden Gem in the Phoebus area**** If you're looking for a Black owned business to support, this is definitely the spot! As soon as I walked in, the DJ had my group and I ready to dance! Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Plus, the heated patio is great if you want to step away for a moment. The only reason why I rate this business 4/5 is because of their VERY limited menu . Once I saw the menu I was kinda disappointed for sure. But the drinks were something serious!!!! I had the rum punch and the jolly rancher drink and the bartender was generous with the liquor! Next time I swing through, I really hope they have more of an extensive menu. Like I said, it's a hidden gem worthy of checking out!

Spotted this restaurant while headed home one day and decided to check it out since it was so close to home. My husband and I arrived around 8pm. There wasn't many people so we had a look around. This place is much bigger than it looks. There is plenty of inside seating, a bar area, and outdoor seating. Smoking is allowed outside. The chairs are sofa type- more relaxed feel. We decided to eat inside. Our server, Deja, was fantastic. We ordered appetizers and drinks and then our meals. The seafood platter was fresh, seasoned and fried perfectly. My husband got a gyro but I didn't get a picture before he dug in. There was music playing. It was loud but didn't disrupt our vibe. If you're looking to talk I would recommend sitting outside. The music was quieter. After our food we headed to the bar for shots. They have a great tequila supply. Plenty of options to choose from. I'm sure later at night it'll pick up and have more of a club/lounge vibe. Deja, our server, said more people come by during the summer. It's a short walk from buckroe beach park. We spent about $116 for 2 appetizers, 2 margaritas, 2 meals and 8 shots. Good deal! I'll will be back again!

COASTERS IS NOT CLOSED!! (That's COASTERS IS NOT CLOSED!! (That's to get your attention ;) C. B. We had dinner at Coasters tonight and thought everything was delicious. I had the nachos and brought over half home with me. My husband had a burger/fries, our son and DIL had the tuna and the firecracker tacos and our grandson had Mac and cheese. All of that along with a coke and 3 beers was $75ish. Portions were large, food was great and our server Natalie was excellent. The only negative I have would be the smell of cigarette smoke even though we didn't see anyone smoking.

New ownership has considerably improved this place. There is something different to do everyday, from karaoke Tuesday to standup comedy on Thursdays. DJ and live bands. Oh, yeah and the food is delicious and made to order. Staff very friendly!

Awesome atmosphere! Very inviting, live bands on Wednesday night but of course I came on a Sunday this time. I had the Beach Balls (crab balls) the greatest. Barely any filler, a lot of crab cooked to perfection. I also had Deep Sea Fish which is fried Catfish as a sandwich with slaw & fries. It was perfectly cooked fried to perfection. The tea was also great. It wasn't over or under sweetened. It was great!! I definitely recommend this restaurant which is in a great location of the beach. Come See for yourself! I'll be back for sure. And thank you so much to the manager who was extremely nice. Thank you Carlos for being an amazing host & waiter!!

This was NOT my 1st time experiencing this phenomenal business, and I will shout from the mountain tops for all who will listen. Tonight was #Datenight. My wife, another power couple (family, not blood related), and myself. Since the 1st time we introduced them to this place, they've been #hooked. Upon entering, we were greeted by the hostess. We noticed Brie (one of the owners) and we had a conversation (expressing our fondness of the business. We waited about 5 minutes and was escorted to our seats by Brie. We were seated in VIP (Reserved) section Thursday nights are reserved for Karaoke and its was phenomenal, to say the least!! There were some real "singers" in there--not professional, but singers nonetheless. Make sure to come between 6-9 to enjoy their "Happy hour" specials. Drinks came fast. Appetizers came faster. And the food was not far behind. My wife ordered "Keishia Wings (Parmesean Garlic) and fries basket. My sister ordered some kind of dip, and my brother ordered wings. The main course. I ordered "Bad Gyrl Lamb Chops" with Rice & Gravy and Cabbage. My wife ordered the "Veggie Platter" with Collards, Sweet potatoes, Broccoli and Cabbage. My sister ordered The "Sausage, Rice and Onions" platter and my brother ordered the Turkey Wings (Fried then gravy added (no onions), Mac and Cheese and Cabbage. When I say we cleaned our plates, that's an understatement. If you're in the area, visiting the area, or just looking for something outside of the normal, this is it!!! You don't even have to take my word for it. Try it yourself and see --- You will NOT be disappointed! We will be back time after time and hope to meet/see you there! Enjoy the rest of your day

Now the food... we ended up sitting for almost two hours because we kept trying different dishes, and every single one was delicious. The fried lamb chops were bussin', the seafood fries were flavorful and filling, and the salmon bites literally melted in my mouth. The seafood mac topped with fried catfish (with fried salmon on the side) had my picky child dancing and humming--so that tells you everything! The cornbread was great too, and I washed it all down with a strawberry Arnold Palmer. Everything was amazing even the music and we can't wait to return!

The party was for about 50 people most over 30 years old. I love the spacious dance floor and the sound system. They played a great mixture of music that coveted all the age groups, including the must have lube dancing music. The DJ made sure we enjoyed ourselves and led a toast fir out birthday girl. The owner welcomed us, and the entire staff was very friendly. The food was good, most people in our party had wings. The adult beverages were yummy and substantial, so everyone was happy. The seating is comfortable, and the venue decor was thoughtfully done. The food service was good and the owner checked on our party several times during our event.. Hubby and I are going back next weekend to dance and dine. Enjoyable location for 30 plus crowd.

BRING YOUR WALLETS AND STRETCHY PANTS!…read more We went as a corporate outing group of 5. The front door is a little tight cause as a popular spot there's a bunch of foot traffic. The lady at the front door was a bit staticky but she got us sat fairly quickly so we could deal with that. Vibes are all wooden, but not creaky. Could be a cool date spot, it was very casual so we were able to be a bit boisterous. Good place to chat and blend in. Service was great and friendly and attentive. The waitress we had always made sure our cups were full and we had napkins and what we needed. We didn't get any alcohol, I got an Arnold Palmer, the wife got a midtown. They were both pretty good, I don't know what the difference was but they slapped. Free refills on sweet tea was dope too! The food came out pretty fast for the portions and quality. The wings are a must get, get the large and if you don't finish air fry them back home (reheat is good) (I would get sauce on the side, we did buffalo). We got like a desert style cornbread with syrup and powdered sugar, not normally my jams but totally delicious (my coworker ordered, I am not into sweets; still 10/10). I had 2 buffalo shrimp and they were also good, I didn't get a flick but that's a safe pick. The mains are pricey (typical soul food prices) but fire!!! Portions were good but the quality of goods and meat are awesome. I eat at a lot of places, the quality was really high here so I think the price tag was fair. My wife got the catfish, I got the stuffed salmon. For our sides we got the greens, cabbage, and the Mac & cheese. I had a couple of things I personally like that I feel would have enhanced the meal but the overall outlook is that this is the place to go. The greens were salty as heck and didn't have like a turkey neck or smoked anything in it, could be a regional preference but that was missing for me. The cabbage was also cooked really well and didn't require much but had no sparkle. Great texture but the flavor wasn't there, I'm also Caribbean so maybe what I like is different, the crunch with a kick would have gone far and maybe some salt from the greens in there. The Mac and cheese was good, I like a creamier one but this will suffice tbh. Overall I'm going to give them a 8.9/10. I could have gotten the wrong things or went on an off day but they certainly delivered and the service was GREAT. I would deff revisit, it's got a lot of charm and personality. The staff were amicable and the bathrooms were clean. I would recommend this spot if you're visiting Richmond!

You absolutely get why. Getting in is the trick. There is no waiting area. The bar is small and fully stocked. It took my family about 45 minutes to be seated. The dining room, wood and walls covered in beautiful paintings of black artwork filled with families celebrating and enjoying huge plates of southern cuisine. Our server, LENA was very helpful and friendly. She made sure we knew what was what. She was Awesome. Okay now this FOOD! So much food and everything hot and fresh. You'll be tempted to order an appetizer. I observed the portions and decided I couldn't eat all that... in a week. Definitely getting the fried oysters next time though. The "Fish Boat" comes with 2, 3 or 4 pieces of whiting. It's fried and the onion and pepper "sauce" is a mustardy, vinegar concoction that compliments the fish perfectly. You have your choice of two sides. Typical southern specialties. Collard greens (no pork added) were delicious, with a little kick; Candied Yams and a BRICK OF CORNBREAD. Light, soft sweet cornbread... my goodness. I don't think I can do this food the proper justice it deserves in this review. The chicken strips; the Alfredo were just as good. Even their version of an Arnold Palmer, (The Uptown) was done right. It's worth the drive and definitely worth the calories. If you love southern food, seafood with an ample serving of back in the day hospitality, (it's on the PLATE) stop by and come hungry. My family said it tasted like Thanksgiving. Family cooking seasoned with love. That's exactly right. Oh! GET THE CAKE... for later
