Awesome view of the bay, perfect ambiance. Girls night out, we had cocktails and appetizers but by the time we got most of our food we were all stuffed from eating chips and table side guacamole!!! Service is okay and food was okay but nothing will beat the view of the bay!

A solid pick good for groups and has a beautiful views of the bay. I really enjoyed the Paella and ceviche trio. The Paella was made pretty well and great for sharing. The Ceviche was really nicely done too with a good citrusy profile and a good amount of meat. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff was really friendly. It can be a little bit of a wait with how busy it is but overall would come back!

This is one of our favorite spots for food. Not only are their drinks good Deb's Coconut Margaritas delicious but so is their food. I love their chips & salsa which are complimentary. On this day we had the Surf & Turf Quesadilla, Potato & Poblano Flautas & Birria tacos. . Everything was equally good. My favorite is the Birria tacos. The staff is always on point. If you haven't stopped by, you're missing out because you have the Bonus San Diego view which is amazing and a plus for out of town guests who come to visit. I do recommend a reservation. They're always busy. Parking is ample, however after 4:00pm they charge to park.

This is one of the places where you are going for the view. The food is decent but nothing to rave about although all three of us raved over dessert. We ordered the butter cake and the churros, amazing! The social hour food is pretty mid but reasonably priced for SD. Now for the bad parts-we went on Friday and it's super cheap and cringe that they only have valet open... When people are going there already for dinner to spend $. I politely asked the hostesses if they validated the tickets for valet to which she replied 'it's just them out there." to which i replied "i'm sorry what does that mean?" just for the other hostess to snap and say "we don't validate." it was really rudely said so i walked away. You can't beat the view and dessert though

Coasterra in San Diego is such a vibe!! The views alone are worth the visit ..especially around sunset. We sat at the bar for a bit and the bartender was so attentive! genuinely friendly, and every drink he made was spot on. We decided to start with an appetizer at the bar We ordered the fish ceviche, which was sooo goood and super fresh and full of flavor. And they do not hold back on the tortilla chips... seriously, it's a whole boatload!! When our main entrées came out, I was a little surprised. My dish ended up being smaller than I expected, and it came with white rice (I had swapped the beans for mushrooms). It felt a bit under-seasoned, and I did have to ask for salt and pepper to bring it to life. On the other hand, my boyfriend ordered the Wagyu hamburger and said it was amazing!! the overall experience was still great. The service was warm and thoughtful they even left a sweet birthday note on our table, which I loved. And the birthday dessert? So good. The cake was fluffy, clearly made in-house, and the perfect way to end the night. Between the beautiful views, great drinks, and thoughtful touches, I'd definitely come back. Next time, I'm trying a different entreeee

Underseasoned and underwhelming This place has all the makings of a perfect evening. The comments do NOT reflect my server, as he was really good So I ventured here from Torrey Pines in the middle of rush hour (clearly a non-resident rookie mistake). The atmosphere is beautiful, nestled on the water, and downtown, you could not ask for a better view. The chips and salsa were good. I wish they had refilled my salsa. The appetizer: This was a total miss. I usually can eat it, but the lack of flavor and depth was disappointing. The main entrée was painful. The chicken was so dry and under-seasoned that it was hard to eat. I had to get extra sauce, which was more oily than expected. The lemon added good acidity to the chicken, but they should use thighs if they are cooking it for that long. I will say the skin was nice and crispy, and the food was actually hot. The espresso martini was a bit underwhelming since it tasted like cold brew, but again, it wasn't terrible, and it didn't blow me away. The churros were AMAZING!!!!!! If you get nothing here but this, you'd be happy. Those were soft, crunchy, perfectly sweet, with perfect accompaniment.

What a Beautiful spot to enjoy lunch after arriving in San Diego. Stopped here right after flying in as I was starving and we were ready to start our vacation. We enjoyed some cocktails and share some appetizers and a salad. The corn pudding was a little dry but had good flavor I'm just used to it being much more moist like a pudding vs a corn bread. The guac was delicious although I could use more heat and cilantro but that's a personal preference. The salad was excellent the shrimp was cooked perfectly and all the flavors worked well together. Our server was fantastic super sweet brought everything out within perfect time of each other so we didn't feel rushed and were able to enjoy the nice afternoon. Would definitely come back and try a meal next time.

Request for seating outside! The views is beautiful! Chips and salsa was good Frida Rita w/Tajin rim was refreshing We got the table side guac which was smooth and tasty We also got the ceviche. It was delicious and not too citrusy as some others can be. Service was a bit slow, but I believe it's because our waiter was giving us time to enjoy our appetizers before ordering. My husband wanted to try the short rib enchiladas, as he saw it on a yelp post, but when we inquired with our waiter he said it hasn't been on the menu for the past 4 years which I found strange, that someone just posted about it a month ago..... I order the mahi taco that came with rice and beans. The rice tasted way better than it looked. It was very flavorful! The beans also had great flavor too. The fish was nicely battered and fried with pico de gallo in a flour tortilla. My husband got the seafood enchiladas that also came with rice and beans. He said it was really good as he ate everything on his plate. All-in-all, this was a great restaurant with great food and service. I'd definitely come back and definitely recommend checking this place out.

Deb's Coconut Margarita

Coasterra is one of our favorite spots in San Diego. The view across the water of the downtown San Diego skyline is absolutely stunning and makes the whole experience. (What a way to showcase Southern California). Great for a lunch or dinner date. I personally like mid-week since it's less busy and we usually get the perfect table although the view is great wherever you are seated. We (my husband and I) always come back for the delicious coconut margarita, which you can even order by the pitcher. The rim is lined with toasted coconut, and it is so so good. The service is usually very good, which makes the experience even better. We also love ordering the Aquachile -- it is so fresh and citrusy with just the right amount of spice. This is our favorite place for appetizers and margaritas (specifically Deb's Coconut) We don't usually make it to the main meal because the coconut margaritas end up being our meal lol.

My bf and I came here for valentines dinner where they offered a 3 course prefixe dinner menu. Drinks: Deb's coconut margarita and a smoked old fashion. Both were very delicious! Appetizers : beef tartare and white corn pablano soup. My favorite was the beef tartare. So refreshing! Entree- grilled filet mignon and short ribs. Both were fantastic! Dessert: coconut flan & tres leches cake Everything was so delicious, service was great and the view is spectacular!

Coasterra was the perfect spot for a sunny Saturday lunch. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and waterfront views, which instantly elevated the whole experience. We started with margaritas, which were refreshing and well made. I ordered the birria tacos and asked the waiter for an extra little cup of birria broth--and happily, they brought it without any issue, which I really appreciated. The food was delicious, the customer service was friendly and accommodating, and the ambiance was hard to beat. There's truly nothing better than enjoying a great meal, a cocktail, and sunshine right next to the water. I'd absolutely come back.

We ended our beautiful "girls day" by having an early dinner here at Coasterra. It was my first time, and my friend had made a reservation for our party of 5. I was surprised when reading some of the reviews about the service. This definitely was not the case for us. Rather, we were greeted by friendly smiles and seated promptly. Our kind and friendly server, Ricky, was a pro at handling his busy section and checked in with us often to make sure we were okay. The interior is modern, spacious with ample seating, and the bayfront view from the patio was just phenomenal, especially at twilight. I was WOW'd. The drinks were refreshing, and the Flank Steak and Shrimp Fajitas were succulent and mouthwatering! To our surprise, we were humbled to have met Chef Deborah, who was so welcoming and simply awesome! Thank you again for your kindness, Chef. All in all, it was a blessed dining experience. Already looking forward to coming back again! CHEERS and happy eating till next time..

2/6/26: When you live in San Diego, you sometimes forget the beauty in your own back yard. Coasterra is one of those local gems with a picturesque view of the downtown skyline across the bay. Chill atmosphere, good music, good food, good view all blend together for a memorable evening of deep conversations! We arrived a little early & the parking gods smiled upon us granting one of the last 3 self-parking spots adjacent to the restaurant! Other than that, you are relegated to Valet Parking, but it's only a manageable $10 (a bargain for San Diego!). Catch the outdoor sunset view to set up a perfect romantic mood, so take note when you make your (highly recommended) reservation. You get a decent view from inside. "But why settle for basic? We deserve better!" we thought as we waited for our table ordering from their abundant margarita menu at the bar. My adorable accomplice chose the Pineapple Tamarind & I the El Jefe (The Boss, in Spanish), because fortune favors the bold! Spicy Bold with Tajin on the rim! The way life is meant to be lived! With heat, baby! Where was I? Oh, our table's ready. The stunning skyline view paired with the mesmerizing view of the sun setting behind my goddess almost made me forget while we were here...to have dinner. Hey, menus! Ooh, it's Agave Month! I stay with the spicy Latino Heat motif & order the Fired Up! Ghost Pepper Tequila with an actual ghost pepper floating in it. Yeah, that hot! My spicy señorita decided on the Oaxacan Colada, because she's a Mezcal kinda gal. Muy caliente! We also locked in our food order. A Wagyu Poblano Burger with ancho fries for my carnivorous companion! I chose the Pork & Chile Colorado Cazuela with flour tortillas, rice & beans, because carnitas! I was told it was a good choice, as it's rather popular with the staff. Ole! Our server's recommendation did not disappoint. The portions they bring you are surprisingly large. I just finished the last of the leftovers this morning! That cazuela (bowl) was like a singularity of pork...dense AF! Awesome! As our dinner ended, we decided on a few IG pics of the nighttime downtown skyline with the Coronado Bridge in the background to commemorate our visit. Perfect evening with a perfect girl! TL:DR - Put a little love in your heart...and tequila!

We ordered about six small plates, and they were all delicious and unique. Hard to pick a favorite. I'd say the shrimp tacos were absolutely incredible. Everything else was packed with flavor and very different than anything you will encounter at any other restaurant. It is special. My only complaint is that the place is so dark that you can barely read the menu. Also, being so dark, you can't get a good look at the food or even see color. And I would think that the food is beautifully presented. We are in our 60s. That might have something to do with our inability to see anything in that low light condition. We had to pull our phones out so that we could light up the menu and check out the food we were about to eat. It does make for a dramatic ambience. There are thousands of candles that add to the experience. But I gotta knock them a point because I couldn't see my food or read the menu without help.

The salsa assortment is definitely worth ordering to go with the complimentary basket of chips and the complimentary salsa, because the three in the salsa assortment include very creative flavors, including an avocado-based salsa and a delicious pistachio one, along with one that is spicy enough to suit any palate. The house guacamole is also deliciously creamy and perfectly seasoned with lime. The real knockout dish that I had, though, was the taco with chicken pastor. I'm a big fan of pastor, but this is a very non-traditional preparation of pastor. Instead of being shredded pork mixed with a spicy sauce and hunks of pineapple, this was almost more like a Mexican cordon bleu where the chicken had been amazingly seared in some combination with cheese and pastor spices. It was absolutely delicious. The tacos might seem expensive at $10 apiece, but combined with the obviously house-made corn tortillas, I think they're a bargain. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere is very chill. There's a large outside seating area to enjoy, and San Diego is nearly always perfect weather.
