I started going to Dr. Lazar at Greenwich Eye Care in Old Greenwich several years ago. Then she…read moreopened her Darien location, Pro Eye Care. Currently, I go to both locations. I can choose either location depending on my schedule. My review is for both locations. I have had poor vision most of my life and dry eyes for the last decade or so. Outside of one eye doctor I saw in another State (Dr. Fitzgerald at Advanced Vision Care) I have had really bad experiences with eye and vision care. Most places offer long wait times, care that seems rushed, very traditional only methods of treatment that land at you missing out on key ways to improve your eye health (like taking vegan Omega 3 EPA and DHA to help with dry eyes) and doctors who are not on top of all of the new options out there for their patients. Dr. Lazar is none of those things. She is always on time and never rushes. She always offers new ideas on treatments like Omega 3 that has made a massive difference in my eye and skin health. Dr. Lazar is beyond skilled in eye care and is also very lovely. Without question she is my partner in my eye and vision care. Recently I bought lenses at the Darien location and worked with Suzy Ademoski. She too was just lovely. I walked out with lenses that were much thinner that my old ones and even block out much more of the sun while still being clear glass. I can actually drive with them in the Summer and not need sunglasses. Susy also offered me every discount that she could to make the purchase easier on my wallet. I highly recommend both locations for trusted eye care.

Deceptive Unethical Practice…read more Under Dr. Littzi's direction, costs for expensive services/tests are not explained clearly PRIOR to them being given, and the total cost for my visit was an expensive surprise bill. One cost of $55 for a "retinal image screening test" was clearly communicated to me, and I agreed to that charge which would be in addition to my eye exam charge of $150. When I checked out, I paid a bill that was $205. I thought I was paying for the eye exam and the retinal image screening. All good. I did not realize until I got home that I had paid for 2 tests, and I was also going to be billed for an eye exam, bringing the total cost to $355. My husband, who had referred me to Dr. Littzi, called the office and was told by the female receptionist that it was "assumed" that I wanted the second test in order to get new glasses. I never even realized I was getting a second test--I thought this was all part of a routine eye exam. It was NEVER communicated to me that there would be an additional charge of $150. Why was I clearly informed about the charge for one test, but not for the other? Dr. Littzi refused to make an adjustment and this is not fair, or ethical. I should have been clearly informed of all charges before tests were given.

The staff is subpar, mostly because it is quite evident patients are just walking bodies in the halls where they stand around. They are not friendly and they clearly don't care. Patients might as well be rolling robots. Expect long wait times for appointments which would really not be THAT bad except, unlike every other Dr's office, they do not offer Wifi so at least you can get something done waiting all that time.

Unfortunately, my experience with the billing office has been the exact opposite. On March 5, 2026--more than a year after my October and December 2024 surgeries--I received a voicemail saying, "I think we have an old address. We tried to send you a bill and the PO returned it." I returned the call immediately, provided my current address, and asked for an account statement showing exactly what I owed and why. Instead, I received a confusing printout that did not answer my questions. I never received a proper bill at my updated address. When I later called to follow up, the first employee told me only that my account was "closed" and that I would have to pay to have it reopened. He could not explain what that meant or answer basic questions, so he transferred me to the office manager. After a lengthy hold, Stacey repeatedly interrupted me as I tried to explain the situation, became increasingly hostile, raised her voice, and ultimately hung up on me. The only useful information I received was that the account had already been turned over to collections. What is so frustrating is that I was trying to get clarify and pay the bill. As soon as I learned there was an outstanding balance, I called back, updated my address, and asked for documentation explaining the charges. Rather than receiving a clear bill and an opportunity to resolve the matter, I learned only weeks later that it had been sent to collections. I paid it today and will never return, nor will my partner.
