I was so excited to come to this place because they had a gluten free bread option. I asked three times about gluten to Lena my server. I asked if the fries were gluten free, if the bbq sauce was gluten free and to put the sandwich on gluten free bread since clearly I have an allergy. GUESS WHAT Lena never made it a gluten free bun. I called days before to see if they were opened for business and if they do sell the seafood pot to go as advertised. I specifically planned to go here as my birthday lunch to NORTH CAROLINA. Located right behind a gas station I drove right past it. Ok, arrived and we walk to building, walk way signage states orders to be placed at the TAP shack. We walk steps away to the tap shack and she informs us to use the QR CODE for menu. Okay, I knew exactly what I wanted which is the seafood pot. I inquired about that and she said the pots ARE RAW seafood that you choose and you go Home to cook yourself. wth?! When I called the other day the person answered NEVER MENTIONED that Seafood pots would NOT BE STEAMED BY THEM. I wasted my time, gas AND tolls to go to Coastal cravings. This was a fun place to have dinner. The restaurant is located behind a BP gas station. Behind the restaurant is an outdoor bar that is part of the restaurant. Next to the bar are outdoor tables, games, hammocks and a stage with live music. This is a good place to go if you are looking for live music during the day. Just check their social media or web site for info. After a short wait at the outside bar we were seated inside at the bar. Since this was a Triple D stop and Guy ate the scallops served in a lobster cognac sauce that's exactly what my kids ordered. My wife went with Mahi Mahi and I had the boil. Corn, sausage, potato, shrimp and crab all boiled together and served in a bucket. Everything in the boil was cooked well. It just didn't have much flavor. I think they just steamed it without any seasoning. Service was great. Food was cooked good. I just wish it had been cooked with some seasoning. Overall, a fun place to have dinner. read more

I would rate this place a 4 out of 5. The food was fresh, but the delivery to the table of food in paper containers and plastic silverware left some to be desired. It is truly difficult eating lobster with a plastic knife. That being said, it has a nice vibe and bar area. It was a good spot to bring kids for an early dinner. They also offer take out. Food and drinks are good, but don't expect to have plates and nice fabric napkins and real silverware. It isn't that type of place. read more

We also had the crab cakes, wontons, fish tacos and even the tenderloin steak. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was super accommodating. We arrived at about 4:45 the second night and the menu switched from lunch to dinner at 5:00. She let us order apps off of the lunch menu and then dinner from the dinner menu. Bartender was great too, making my wife's drink to order. It's not much go look at from the outside - it's attached to a gas station - but it's a real diamond in the rough. Don't miss out. read more

We dined in for lunch and got the hush puppies for our appetizer (quite good!) ,fish tacos (super good!), fish and chips and pasta with marinara sauce for the children, and I got the crab cake sandwich. I was a bit disappointed with my crab cake sandwich. It was a little bit on the dry side and I missed some sort of sauce to help cut through the dryness. I also picked out at least a couple pieces of the hard white stuff that aren't edible (those that are like plastic). It's a good thing I got the potato salad as my side instead of fries because we were just drowning in fries from everyone else's orders. I wish there were more of the actual meal than the sides (i.e., there were only two fish tacos and two pieces of fish fillet). read more

This may not be a fair review - we were so excited about this spot since triple D filmed it so we probably had high expectation. It was good and low key. The interior is nice and staff were friendly. I got lobster roll which was great. Hubby got fish and chip sandwich which was okay. My sister-in-law got a crab cake sandwich which she liked. Great service! Drinks showed up quickly and were tasty and stiff. Smallish menu, which I view as a plus. App was the Duck Wontons ... really tasty with extremely flavorful sauce. By far the best meal we had while visiting the OBX. Don't be fooled by the gas station attached to the restaurant! We learned that they have recently remodeled and they did a great job. Food is delish, well priced and they will accommodate special requests. Service was by far the best of all the establishments we visited (Great job, Lexi)! We tried the Carribean jerk chicken, Tuscan pork chop, and Seafood broiled combo. YUM!! Sides were great as well.They have a nice selection of NC drafts. This was a delicious breakfast place to eat! I'm not into seafood that much and they still have some normal foods. I recommend the barbecue sandwich, which comes with fish and chips (or fries) and potato salad! I also tried some hush puppies which were absolutely delectable. My mother and brother shared the seafood pot, looked super good and great for seafood lovers! They also have a live band at 6:30 and the staff is great we were served by a wonderful girl named Lexi, great staff here. The place is also very clean and there's lots of things to do. My husband and I were starving when we got to Duck so when my parents headed to the realty to wait for our house keys, we detoured here. I saw it had good reviews but I didn't know until we were seated it was featured on triple D. I'm a huge Food Network fan so then I was really pumped. I got the lobster roll and my husband got the fish and chips. The lobster roll was SO REFRESHING. A lot of places will smother the lobster in mayo and spices and take away from the seafood taste itself but not here. The chunks of lobster were huge and it was tossed in a light, clear sauce instead of mayo overload. I got the potato salad with it and it was also unique as far as potato salads go. Big chunks of potato but also extremely creamy at the same time. How? I don't know, but I approve. My husband's fish was deep fried and light at the same time. Again, how? I don't know, but I seriously approve. We also tried two of the blonde draft beers they had featured and they were the perfect beach beers. My whole family wanted to go back one night and try the seafood boil buckets, which several tables had around us when we went for lunch, but we never made it back all together. My parents went for dinner one night and my mom raved about the lobster tail, so add that to the list of things Cravings does very well. If you were here before Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives stopped by, you'll find the restaurant has ramped things up a bit and everything is a bit more expanded than it was in the past. It's a great place to eat that still struggles to find the line between fine dining and a casual beach restaurant. You have some basic sandwiches and menu items which are paired up with entrees topping $30 a plate. The service doesn't always reflect a $28 entree kind of place and the atmosphere (booths, tile floor, adjoining gas station) certainly doesn't either. As you know, once you have a couple expensive entrees, some apps or deserts and a couple drinks it is very easy to get your tab over $100 and then you should be getting a level of service I don't see here. The servers are always friendly, but may not visit the table to see how things are, refill water and take drink orders as often as you'd like. The food is very good though. I got the broiled platter last time I was in house and all the seafood was cooked perfectly and the portion was fair. Another diner with me got the Scallop dinner which continues to be a crowd favorite. Perfectly cooked large sweet scallops in a great sauce. Drinks and beer selection is good. There is often live music at the outdoor seating to enjoy your meals while you watch folks pump gas and pick up their 24 packs. They should hold their prices, but start serving offensively large portions. That will alleviate any mismatch with the atmosphere or service. If folks get a pile of good food all is forgiven. Or keep everything the same, drop the prices a bit, and go a little more casual. The kids meals are good. They don't include drinks (which cost about as much as the meals) but they give them crayons and something to draw on which was appreciated. It'd be nice if they had some soup on the menu. An authentic Hatteras style clam chowder would be perfect with thier fresh seafood menu. I heard the steaks are good. Haven't tried them yet. read more
