Made my first visit in last week and picked up half a flat of fresh picked strawberries, a pint of homemade sour cherry jam (they had several kinds available) heads of organic fresh leaf lettuce and a few big (BIG) handfuls of crispy pea pods. All of the things we purchased were wonderful. Berries, pea pods and lettuce were gone in short order. The jam is a great add in to morning yogurt. We'll be back for more of other things on our next trip to Eugene. The super friendly family staff that runs the farm and the farm store deserve special mention. They really do make you feel glad you came in. (The friendly back and forth they had with local regular customers while we were in the store demonstrates the value of good service to building customer loyalty.) When I called ahead for directions, since my GPS didn't find them, I asked if they had berries available. The woman I spoke with asked if I'd want to pick my own. No, I said, MS challenges have put my "pickin' days" behind me. She said she and her daughter would go pick some for me and if I'd give them 30 minutes before coming in, they'd have fresh berries ready. Nice. The farm store also has a full kitchen on prem and I had a chance to peek in it. They were making home made shortcakes (the aroma wafted through the store) and fresh strawberry pies on the day I was there. Also a note on accessibility for folks who need to consider it to get in the door. Very nice to see here a paved accessible parking stall right next to the store and a universally accessible ramp as the entry into the building. When I thanked them for making the store accessible because walking across a deep gravel lot like theirs is tough for me (and impossible for wheelchair users) they seemed surprised. :"Do you know we have to do that by law? Make our store accessible to everyone?" LOL....yes, I said, yes I do know that's the law. But you'd be amazed how many farm markets think it is optional. Very nice that they got it right here. Meaning I could get in to spend my money to buy River Bend products. Everyone benefits from equal access.. Friendly people, great fresh products, home made goodies, all people are welcome here access and a beautiful drive yet close to Eugene too. What's not to like? Go!

I stopped here after berry picking elsewhere and bought some veggies, free range eggs produced by happy roaming chickens (for only $5 a dozen, totally reasonable for the quality), garlic, hazelnuts and hazelnut butter, all kinds of good stuff. My friend bought some jam, and the person who sold it to us had made it fresh that week. They also sell other local products that are great for gifts, like an Oregon canned tuna that you can't find most places. And they aren't trying to brand a bunch of products with their label to increase their stock; the selection and variety are fairly modest but it reflects the most seasonal things growing at that moment, and everything is of the highest quality.

My husband and I decided to make a stop by this smally family owned farm, hoping to see pumpkins and purchase some vegetables and fruits. Unfortunately this farm is not dog friendly so our little girl stayed in the car (please note that the temperature was cold and had lightly rained earlier so she was not overheated while she waited a short time for us). We walked inside the open air store and ended up purchasing 2 Empire apples and one zucchini. We haven't had the chance to cook the zucchini yet (will do so tomorrow once we arrive at our AirBnB that has a kitchen) but we ate the apples and they were nice and crisp. The skin of the apple was thick but was good. Loved the color of this apple and the creaminess of the inside. Service was generally friendly and quick (but we were not acknowledged when we first came in, as the 2 employees were having a conversation between themselves, with the backs turned). The unisex restroom that I used was clean and adequately stocked with the essentials. Overall, had a nice experience and would consider coming back if I lived in the area.

I would put the local Lane County Saturday Farmers Market against any of them for local in-season fruit, produce, eggs, meats, and baked goods and many other local products. It runs 11 months of the year. I can be found there at opening every Saturday unless we are out of town. Everything sold fresh is local and in season. Prepared food is made from local ingredients, mostly organic. On any given Saturday there are four or six bakeries with very fresh baked goods available with some of the best bread, croissants equal to Paris bakeries, many, many sweet and savory pastries. Many rural farm stands are represented with their complete in-season produce, fruit and vegetables. There are always three or four booths selling foraged mushrooms in season with a great variety of cultivated ones as well. Several vendors raise and sell the best eggs I have ever eaten. If you beat me there, you might get some double yoked ones, but they sell out fast. Meat for the freezer, fresh fish and canned fish, several hot food venders and if you can manage tastes in the morning several local pot distilleries are showing up these days. Everyone is pleasant and helpful and the culture is one of cooperation and helping other venders and customers so that all are successful. Come and check it out. The new pavement makes it easy to move around, stay dry. There are tables for you to eat your hot food. Don't forget to take some flowers home for the vase from the four or five vendors who are there regularly. The large open building houses about a third of the vendors with large open doors, the rest bring their own tents and the outdoor arrangement is easy to change for the day. Not as many farmers and producers present on a Wednesday but this is still a great market even with fewer participants. We filled up our cooler with fresh produce including organic salad greens, kira squash, romano beans, multiple kinds of grapes, kumquats (no kidding...the farmer grows these in a hoop house with other citrus), eggplant, and multiple kinds of pears, apples and plums. We also had a chance to talk to quince farmers who make quince paste, a fav of ours with Fall and Spanish cheese selections, and buy a couple of jars to tuck away. And bread selections from Wild Yeast including small rounds of sourdough whole wheat, hazelnut and cinnamon raisin batard all of which were available in whole loaf and smaller half loaf sizes. Wild Yeast mini rye pastry galette with local mixed apples as filling was the perfect breakfast treat and the mini Marguerite fougasse and cranberry Swiss cheese roll were dinner that night at our destination. If we lived in the Corvallis area we would be regular shoppers here and be able to buy the things like a marvelous assortment of microgreens, fresh made cheeses, pollinator plants and all sorts of produce that we didn't have room to bring home. ACCESSIBILITY: Street surfacing which is firm and stable works for shoppers of all abilities and since I was using a wheelchair on this trip I particularly appreciated that. Although the ADA is 33 years old and requires outdoor markets to be on surfaces that allow everyone equal access you would be astounded how many still set up on deep gravel lots or deep grass, neither of which allow disabled shoppers access. Good for the Corvallis organizers for getting this right!

By spending a good length of time talking to him about his recent farm experience and past, he cares a lot about the animals under his care, he wasn't busy however at the time and had time to talk to me and my wife. We picked out 5 lovely Turkeys. Beautiful area Deadwood is, but you don't need to travel all the way out there, you can pick up Turkeys from his wife in Eugene, they have a beautiful family.
