Tarah from Beachcombers gave up time out of her Thanksgiving morning to get the house ready and let us check-in early. The house was incredible but this review is for Tarah and Beachcombers. Unbelievable customer service! Our next beach vacation rental will start by looking at their available homes because you never know how important the Property Management company is until you need them.

They have a nice VHS, book, and game library. They also have bikes to borrow which we use so we can run our dog. There is the usual cable TV, coffee, fridge, microwave in the room. The rooms are very clean. The back of the motel has the cutest sitting area with nice chairs and grass to lay in, which we discovered when we had the "honey moon" suite. This place is so comfortable :)

It is a couple hundred yards from the beach and walkable to everything in Seaside. Book through their website and not on Airbnb. This is an absolute must for anyone who loves the Oregon coast and who wants a taste of our true personality.

Then he said he was not the person to check in with. He gave us the email of the owner and he allowed us to stay in the room until we got checked in. We laid down on top of the bed just to rest a bit. Little did we know that someone else rented the room on line and the owner didn't respond to our email. She came back to the inn and rented us a remote room in another building. Our mistake was not checking out the room before hand and just taking it. It was an interesting two story old duplex. Old as in interesting and quirky. I loved that it had a kitchen and couldn't imagine what it was like to live there back in the day. Anyway the bedroom is upstairs - very steep short stairs and the only bathroom is downstairs. As I am of an age where I need to get up at least once a night to use the facilities, I didn't feel safe walking down the stairs half awake. Thank goodness the couch was very comfortable downstairs. While checking out the space there was a door across the hall from the bedroom about 2 feet above the ground. We opened the door and was surprised to see another bedroom - there was a little ladder inside that would have allowed an easy climb into the room. Breakfast was in the main building, just help yourself to drinks or wrapped bakery items. Also yogurt and other goodies.

This is what you get when you visit Grandview B & B. Funky, old, and in those two things - charm. Sharlene is someone who has lived a nice long life and probably has many stories to tell. She is usually the woman who greets you when you arrive. Be patient, as it takes her a bit to get to the front door. Also, if you come down to the lobby area after you have checked in and try to talk to Sharlene, make sure she can see who you are. I watched a few times as guests came down the stairs to call out to her about a question and she can't move her neck as easily to know who she is talking to. :) Be kind and patient with this wonderful lady. We stayed in the Treetops Room which has a balcony where you can look out over the river and see the old Flavel home. And you can even spy the Goonies house in the far off distance. Breakfast is served at 7:30, 8:30 or 9:30 and you get to choose which one works best for you. Bagels, smoked salmon and chocolate muffins! YUM! The sweet chef was wonderfully sweet and we felt very special eating in the closed off room. If you want 1000 thread count sheets or modern amenities, this is not where you will find them. Come for the experience and the charm of staying in a very old house. I love this place and am making this a yearly traditional stop on our way to Cannon Beach.

We immediately asked for a refund and started calling lodging options away from Marine Dr. and lucked into an available room at Grandview! Our room, called "Cloud Nine" came with a lovely view of the Astoria-Megler Bridge and Columbia River sunset! And in the morning, we sat in the private breakfast nook in a turret with a gorgeous view of the river!! Breakfast included fresh fruit, juice, coffee, salmon and cream cheese on a cheddar bagel, and chocolate muffins. Staying at the Grandview was a highlight of our trip, a wonderful surprise find!! The people who we spoke to prior to our stay were super helpful. They found us a hotel room that accommodated to our family's needs. They were patient and nice to speak with. There was plenty of parking outside our cottage. I liked the outdoor area where there was a propane bbq, fire pit, and chairs to hang out. The ambiance really catered to families or for people who are traveling with friends. The room in itself was very spacious. I could tell that they tried really hard to make us feel safe in that they cleaned everything thoroughly. For example, the hair dryer was wrapped in plastic wrap. I was so impressed with how large the cottage was. There was a living room, bathroom, kitchen and a room with a door. The tv had Netflix and Amazon prime (that was awesome). I loved the kitchen feature because when we got sick of eating out, we were able to cook our own meals. They provided all the basic necessities to cook a meal. The location of the cottages is perfect. It is located in the heart of town and about a 2 min walk to the beach. Every day, we just had to walk a couple of steps and we would see the beach and the iconic Cannon Beach rock. The minor things that I didn't like about this place was that the bathroom vent didn't exist/odor. I believe the cottages allow pets so there was a bad odor that existed in the bathroom. We could never get rid of the smell. The unit is also older so some of the flooring was cracked. Also, at night it gets really cold and the heat from the living room doesn't travel easily to the bedroom so it gets really cold. However, the staff were very accommodating in getting us more blankets. The fireplace was great in helping heat the place too. But aside from these few minor issues, we would definitely stay here again. We had a lovely stay.

Pam and David are the sweetest and most hospitable hosts, and their B&B truly feels like a cozy home. They collect really fun items, and each room has its own character and its own unique homey decor. The location of the inn is close enough to walk anywhere you would want to go out for dinner, drinks, or shopping. The best part of the inn (besides Pam's breakfasts - which always include the BEST fruit bowls) is most definitely their 13 year old chihuahua, Penny. She often makes an appearance after breakfast and steals the heart of everyone she meets. If you aren't able to use a tub with a shower handle (like the kind popular in Europe) to bathe, then I would suggest getting one of their rooms with a shower/tub combination. I loved having a clawfoot tub to soak in (we stayed in the Rose Room this time) each night while I read and drank a cup of tea. There is usually hot water and teabags or instant coffee available at all hours (freshly brewed coffee is available starting at 7am) on the stairway landing and I took full advantage of that amenity!
