We needed a coin operated washer for our apartment building. They had no stock. It would be a month before delivery. This store has been our goto for all appliances in our apartment buildings. We started with them 30 years ago and we have noticed the general customer service has declined. Unless they improve it is doubtful we will continue doing business with them. read more

I needed a new fridge because the current one was dying. The appliance repair company I use orders appliances through Coast Appliances. I like the repair company so I ordered through them. It's a difficult delivery, stairs and railings have to be removed. I'm being billed $789 for the delivery and I will need to hire a handyman to remove the stairs and railings. The fridge was ordered at the end of September. Ten days after the 4- 6 week estimate, I call for the status. Was told the fridge would be in Vancouver on December 20. Get this text on December 21 "Hi Your delivery request has been received and is scheduled to arrive on Dec 23 between 07:35 AM and 10:35 AM. Click on the following link for more information on how to prepare for your delivery." I immediately call the repair company because this is the only number I have and tell the woman on the phone that I'm not prepared to take the delivery. She said the supervisor is not in and he will call me on Monday. She had asked me to text her the message I received which I did. On Monday I get a call from Coast saying they will be there in half an hour. I said I canceled the delivery through the repair company. 10 minutes later I get another call from someone else at Coast. I tell him the same thing. Twenty minutes later Frank from Coast calls. I tell him I canceled the delivery on Saturday because I had to hire someone to remove the stairs. Finding a handyman on short notice, two days before Christmas is not easy. He asked who I talked to but I couldn't remember her name. I asked who I should talk to to reschedule the delivery and he said to reschedule through him. I screen cap the text I sent her and send it to him I find a handyman who is flexible and call Frank on January 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th. No reply. On the January 10th I text the tech who does my appliance servicing and ask if he can intervene and have someone call me. Someone calls me and tells me that they are finding out where the fridge is. On the January 14th I was told that the fridge was sent back to wherever it came from and they have asked for another one and are trying to expedite it. It will take a month, maybe longer. All along I told everyone involved that I couldn't take the delivery on Monday December 23, Including the supervisor Frank. The repair company said that Coast thought I CANCELED THE FRIDGE, NOT THE DELIVERY. Was Frank asleep when I talked to him? I guess so. Raj from Coast takes over and apologises profusely for everything and will try to expedite the fridge. In the meantime, the repair company tries to find me one to no avail. The fridge finally arrives and is scheduled for delivery on February 14th. For the past 6 months, I've had to deal with rotting food in a 50ºF fridge and I'm looking forward to a new fridge. I explain to Raj that I will have to remove some of the stairs and he says not to. Here is his email: - Based on the video submitted to us, and the measurements made, seems adequate for delivery. - Please don't take out the staircase steps - not required as advised by our carrier. - Despite all due diligence, please note it is indeed a complex delivery. - It may go wrong - keeping my fingers crossed. I asked if there was a plan B. He replied: "The delivery team I am sending are specialists, they have been with us for over 40 years, they will explore any other possibilities, when at the place, if the options are safe and do not contravene WCB safety regulations." So, there is no Plan B. They arrive, walk around, and take measurements. As I fearfully expected, the fridge can't get up the stairs. I ask them to take it back since it's still in the truck and I figure out Plan B. I hire a piano moving company and coordinate the delivery with Raj so the new fridge will arrive immediately after the old one is removed and placed on the sidewalk. This went smoothly and cost me $2000. I ask Raj to remove the complex delivery charge. He said it was the repair company that made the charge, not him, and that the price was ridiculous. I go back to the repair company. They talk to Raj. It's now $349. I ask why and was told because of "side-swipe removal". No side-swipes were removed at any point. I send Raj an email with a screenshot of a normal delivery, recycling and removal charge from the Coast website which is $150. I pointed out that the delivery was not complex. A fridge was put on the sidewalk and another was put on a truck. I'm paying for his mistake when I was clear about the fridge not fitting up the stairs. He was also putting the repair company in a bad position, and not considering any inconvenience he caused me by having to wait 6 months for a fridge due to the poor service of Coast. TLDR; If your appliance and delivery is not plug and play or requires more brain power than a worm has, don't deal with Coast. If you enjoy 6 months of BS, frustration, and a barely working fridge that rots food, you won't be disappointed. read more

Buyer beware, and be sure to ask the age of the appliance you are buying, in large companies. Bought a fridge/freeze in their discount section of demos in the store, at Calgary south. The salesmen was polite, and we had no problem with him. However, when the unit was delivered, we discovered the unit was an April 2022l appliance, so in a couple of months, we have bought a 4 year old fridge. So went in, to let them know we weren't happy about the age of the appliance, as buying from a big company as Coast Appliances, you expect the appliance to be at least, last years store demo. If this was a store demo, how is Coast Appliances best representing the manufactures product by demoing 4 year old appliances? Anyway we would expect this kind of older item in a Liquidator or Ma and Pa type store. We have bought many appliances from stores across BC and now Alberta. The manager at the South Store in Calgary, said this is common practise to sell old appliances, and wished us, good luck finding a good price on demo models that are newer. I wrote a review about a defective washer and dryer I was sold by Coastal Appliances for $2,731.86 on Sept. 24, 2024. They replied to my review saying they would resolve my complaint. It is now March and nothing has been resolved. The Better Business Bureau has tried to help me, but Coastal just ignores them. All I get are e-mails passing the buck to someone else. I am now forced to go through the hassle and expense of The Civil Resolution Tribunal. In the meantime, my hydro bill has gone up 41% trying to dry my clothes in a dryer that takes over 2 hours to get my clothes dry. I am an old lady trying to manage on a limited pension that they have done this to. I supposedly have a five year warranty. The man from the Warranty company did nothing but argue with me. I would give zero stars if that was an option. We were delivered a malfunctioning fridge. I reported the problem to Coast the next day and was told that once it's out of the box, it's not their problem anymore and they're not going to help us - despite their website saying that within the first 30 days to contact their own service department. The sales manager is rude and unhelpful, despite lots of verbal guarantees of things she would do, nothing was done. I was then forwarded to someone in Escalations who has since stopped replying to any of my emails. I was then contacted by the store manager - not because of the Escalations team or the sales manager, but because I gave them a bad score in their Customer Satisfaction survey. The store manager made promises a full week ago and there has been no follow-through. He also has not replied to a single email. He guaranteed that someone would contact me the same day that we spoke about replacing my broken fridge ... unsurprisingly, no one has contacted me since then. Do not shop here!! I don't recommend the installation service with Coast. Incapable technicians, lack of ownership and follow through. No response from service team to correct error. We had a washer dryer installed. Hot water hose was connected to the cold water tap in error. Cold water hose was not connected at all. Vent was broken by instillation team, not reported or repaired, dryer was venting into apartment. I ended up having to pay another plumber to correct the errors and fix the vent connection. I've reached out to Coast multiple times to provide them with the opportunity to rectify. They responded once to set up a time to speak, which I replied to immediately but to date have not gotten back to me and it's been over a month. read more

My dryer broke and I ordered a new one from Coast last saturday (5 days ago). The following day Jennifer called me to schedule delivery. All the delivery days she offered wouldn't work, finally she offered me today (Thursday). I had to re-arrange my whole work schedule to work from home in order to accept the delivery. While on the phone with her on Sunday, I emphasized that I had a dr's appt on Thursday and could only accept delivery before 10am or after 11am. She said no problem and she would write it in my file. After noon hearing back about the delivery window, I called two more times, speaking to Jennifer and then another colleague. They both assured me that they would note it in my file. Yesterday I was called to say they would deliver between 10am and 1pm, I told them that wouldn't work, I had already discussed that I was only available 11am onward, she said no problem, we will deliver after 11 and I will note in your file. Driving to the dr's appt today, I get a phone call saying that they will be arriving at my home at 10:15am. I told them that was not workable and there was a note on my file that it had to be after 11am. He told me he would call back but never did. I called Coast and spoke to Jennifer directly again. SHe told me that because the note about after 11am was submitted after the end of workday yesterday, the delivery driver didn't get the message. HOW? I literally spoke with them three times to ensure it would be delivered after 11am. She kept promising to call back once she spoke with the delivery driver and never did. I had to keep calling and finally at 1pm I was told that they were stopping deliveries at 1:30pm today. I leave on vacation in a day, I have a mountain of dirty laundry and she has now informed that they just aren't going to deliver. This is absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had. What absolutely gross incompetence. Not a call from a manager, no apology, no offer to try and get it delivered today by another method. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT THIS COMPANY. Take your money and run. Absolutely disgusted by this experience. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. read more

It's impossible to get into their website without an error message. Attempting to leave a message on their phone. gets your cut off. When I called during business hours, I was immediately put on hold and repeatedly the message said that I was number one in the queue and nobody was picking up. Also, the store is used by the landlords of my building and my refrigerator was supposed to be replaced long ago and they mixed up my order. read more

We walked in trying to buy full sets of appliances. The reception said this sales rep can help us. The sales rep greeted my husband and gave him his card and said we can go look around. There were around 6 sales rep sitting at their desks in the middle of the store. There were another couples there and they have a sales rep going around with them and explaining the products for them. We got nothing! Purchased a washer and dryer unit from the Vancouver location (from John) based on earliest delivery date as this was for a rental unit. That process was smooth and of course John was very eager to get me on my cell to get payment info to process payment after hours on his work day. Fast forward to the delivery date - the delivery company did not even attempt to deliver as they said this could not fit up the stairs as they would not lift it onto the first step despite me measuring the height and knowing it would make it. Fine - we did not accept the order since the delivery company just wanted to move to their next job or they'd just leave it there with me at the bottom of the stairs which obviously would not be acceptable. I go through the entire process to order another washer and dryer unit on the same day using the store credit I had. Delivery date would be a few days out - by this time, we are looking at a few days out for delivery which would inconvenience our tenants. Again - fine. I had to call Coast several times to even get an invoice that was legible and that I could understand. I'm now working with the store Manager (Jessica) in John's absence who states that she would be calling me on Monday to see if there was anyway to deliver on Tuesday. No call was ever made to me or attempt to get a hold of me - but I of course did call them to inquire so I could give an update to my tenants. I then get a call on Tuesday advising the delivery on Wednesday would be pushed out till Xmas eve due to the snow delay and the days worth of cancelled deliveries - no apologies just stating the fact this was happening. GREAT - I understand but still annoying that a single day's delay in deliveries would delay our scheduled delivery by 3 days. I asked if there was anyway we could look to getting any slot earlier and they basically said no. I ask the original sales person to call me and I advise that another company could deliver the exact same washer and dryer 3 days sooner - I was looking to see what delivery times were for other options - and he basically barks "cancel your order - it's not even big money". Not only did he suggest that my order wasn't worth anything to him or the company, that he could NOT process my return that day due to him being busy but to "trust him" that he'd be doing it. I sent a simple email today to him, Jennifer, Agnes to please advise when and if they were able to process the return so I can look for this $2700 to show up on my Visa. Still no reply by email now 2 days into the original refund request. Funny how they seem to be very eager to call and text you from their cell to process payment, but can't be bothered to advise you when the payment will be refunded to the credit card. My advice - choose to buy your appliances elsewhere when there is plenty of vendors offering the same inventory and guaranteeing faster delivery. Unfortunately the experience working with Coast was genuinely frustrating. No problems taking your money and telling you that your order wasn't even "big money". Next time I order appliances for our home remodel or rentals, I definitely would like the business to go to someone who appreciates the purchase no matter how big or small. Given the state of the economy and the fact that everyone is struggling out there, this to me is an indication of customer service and what might happen if things go wrong. In fact, the company I did end up buying from offered a better price (by about $150) and had great customer service by communicating delivery dates / times and following up with communication and a text message. Unfortunately spending $15,000 on a Miele gas range doesn't provide you with a quality product or proper customer service. Coast Appliance has avoided any and all accountability for the product they sold me on, and for over a year now have consistently punted all accountability and responsibility to the manufacturer, who also, has not provided any sort of proper customer service. I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere, to Midland, to Costco, anywhere else really where they will take care of you as a customer to ensure your investment in their customers and products are appreciated and respected. read more

I received the worst customer service imaginable. I went in on a Sunday and looked at washer dryer combinations. A salesman came up and said " If you buy it I can have it delivered Tuesday", lie number one. He hadn't bothered to check to see if that was possible, he said it to get the sale. Monday night I got a call. " It wasn't on the truck, they'll bring it Wednesday, ok?" I said what choice do I have? Now, when I talked to the salesman Sunday I had explained thoroughly that the washer and dryer were in a sort of closet, and would have to be pulled out and disconnected. He removed the clause from the invoice that said the customer is responsible for disconnecting, etc., and said the delivery people would do it all, don't worry. Lie number two. On Wednesday when the delivery arrived the guy took one look and said "I'm not doing that. You have to get someone to pull it out." I explained that I had told the salesman all about it and I got him on the phone. The delivery guy passed the phone to me, and the salesman said "I'll refund your money. You get it from somebody else" two or three times. I told the delivery company to get lost. I went to Trail Appliances, where I should have gone all along, and the whole thing was done with no problem at all. No, I don't recommend Coast Appliances. They will say what you want to hear and give no service at all. By the way, the delivery people from Trail actually work there, they aren't some discount delivery company. read more

Our dryer at home went caput and instead of just buying a dryer, we bought a set. Because our original washer was still good, we stored the new washer. When it came to plugging the washer (2 years later) in for the first time, it didn't work. We didn't have extended warranty because we figured a brand new washer should work. Called Coastal and they pretty much said we were SoL. Called a repair person in and was told that the washer would cost the same as purchasing a new washer. We figured we were willing to buy another washer from them. I at least felt that I should be compensated in some way perhaps 10% off, a free upgrade, maybe free delivery or save on GST or even a bottle of detergent or simple appreciation for a returning customer or even some type of empathy. I got nothing but a stone cold face. We asked to speak to the manager and she was the manager! I said we would take our business elsewhere, yet no response. So we walked. Note* we were good customers, my family & extended family have bought several appliances from them in the last 5 years through our renos, and tenants etc. They just don't have the aptitude to deal with customer complaints. read more

Hi: in 2017 I purchased 2 NEW Samsung Products for my new kitchen, an induction range and a double door fridge. Both near the top of the line. After 3 years the fridge kept icing up and making a horrible noise. Thawed it multiple times. Was out of warranty and finally it was just warm and the food spoiled. Called several repair places and was advised was not worth fixing. An online search revealed this model was part of a class action in the USA. BUT not in Canada. Then a stove element quit working and again was advised by multiple sources was not worth fixing and a "known defect" So $6000 dollars of appliances were junked in less than 5 years. That's when I learned the word SAMSUCKS. Samsung now noted for poor engineering and crappy defect prone appliances. You now have a a former customer who will never buy a Samsung product again and at every opportunity will advise others to never buy a Samsung product. Now you know. read more

The issue isn't even the defective product, it was the rude manner the salesman spoke to me in. Aren't the sales staff trained to handle customers with questions or concerns? It appears not. I took my further business to The Brick in Langley, who were WONDERFUL to deal with, super supportive and will have my business forever. Your rude staff are going to kill your business, and your lack of customer service is appalling. Salespeople are mediocre at best when first shopping for product, do not know the warranties or comparison models, with a luke warm attitude as though they are doing you a favour by assisting you. i have to agree with yelp and all the google reviews about this company. There is huge problem between sales and service guys. I had a simple request and that was my new oven lightbulb wasn't working and informed them not 1, but 5 times, in email, vm, and spoke to the reception 2x to confirm that the service guy knew what was wrong with it. Spoke to the service guy on day of and told him what was wrong. Well, they arrived an 1hr late and didn't bother to call when i asked him to give me a heads up about 20 min before he comes. He arrived and had no idea what was wrong with the oven as if our discussion never happened. It turns out, that he couldn't do anything because he has to order the new lightbulb from manufacturer and that will take a week or so to arrive and he has to arrange another time to install. Why didn't they just order it when they knew and why did he even bother coming? I had told them everything was working but not the bulb. Amazing that in 2019, despite all the technology that organizations can't get their crap together. I would not recommend or ever use them again. read more

We bought extended warranties on everything and they bend over backwards and make you think everything is done so professional and you can relax in their 'capable hands'. As soon as you are finished they drill in you to fill out the customer service survey to say how your transaction went. Once you fill it out and submit you can't go back later to edit or have the option to comment. After that it was one headache after another with changes to the appliances, delivery and a faulty dishwasher, dishonest repairman which took over 5 months to get and the replacement came with a dent! I want to caution anyone that is considering purchasing an extended warranty from Coast Appliance. Don't do it. Hold on to your money because if and when you need to make a claim they will not be there to help you when needed. We purchased 3 sets of appliances for 3 suites , all high end units and was convinced against my better judgment to purchase warranties for everything . One of the fridges in our suite has had - still having issues . The first of four visits the repair man bent up the interior cover and cracked up the powder coat paint in the bottom of the fridge. Don't know why he dismantled it as the problem with the fridge was a loud noise coming from the top of the fridge (Assume it was the fan in the ice maker). The warranty people later told us that the call was not covered by warranty and that any other claims would be chargeable - What kind of crap is this , we still have 8 months of warranty left on our 2 year plan. We had to call them back as the repair did not fix the issue. The response took months for someone to come out. We had 2 more calls with to repair the fridge including replacing the cracked bent cover that was damage from the initial repair and was now rusting. *** Next we have a claim for our Samsung range . It is a glass top range and one morning we woke up to the top cracked . We searched the internet and their are all kinds on claims with this known issue. We call to make a claim and was told that stove tops are not covered under the warranty . Didn't even come out to look at it. I remember the salesman telling us when he was selling the benefits of the warranty that its one of the best on the market and they don't weisel out of claims like others out there, guess he was wrong. I cant believe with all the money we spent on full appliance packages and warranties that they would not stand behind their product. How a business can operate without properly storing their data amazes me. I called regarding repair/warranty service as I had purchased warranty for both appliances purchased on the same day in 2018. Apparently they are unable to pull up their own invoices from purchases made a year ago and do not return customer call inquiries. They claimed they can only see one appliance purchased. After several calls, they were finally able to pull up the other appliance and claimed warranty was only purchased for one... Very frustrating experience. I recommend taking your business elsewhere unless you wish to receive horrible customer service for something you actually paid for. I'm kind of surprised reading other 1-star reviews because my experience was quite the opposite, maybe I lucked out? Appliance shopping, for me anyway, is very similar to car shopping in that you have to negotiate to get the best deal, and if you don't you'll no doubt overpay. So don't be shy, just make a reasonable offer and go from there. Also make sure you check the invoice carefully before proceeding with payment. The worst experience ever! Ordered a dishwasher, and paid for it! First when I called to check for when it would be delivered, they didn\t know abt it. Then when they finally found out bout it the next day, they promised that delivery would be the next week, however when it had not been delivered I called to get an update, and they promised to call back. I used these guys to completely refit my new unit with appliances and replace old appliances in the main unit. All in all, 9 units purchased. Tens of thousands of dollars spent. We got the extended warranty on all units, there was a processing error and they forgot to add the extended warranty on 1 item that I've been trying to claim for over 3 weeks. All in all absolutely horrific service. *This edit is to reply to the response from owner. We opted in to the extended warranty on all appliances. Coast Appliance failed to add them to all appliances purchased. Why would I do an extended warranty on 7 of the 9 appliances I purchased? That does not make sense. If I'm already spending $10,000+, why wouldn't I add it? Coast Appliances failed to add on 2 extended warranties at the time of purchase. They are not willing to rectify the situation even though it was a user error on their end. The extended warranty would have given me 4 years of coverage ending in January 2021. Do not buy anything here unless you plan on picking it up yourself from their suburban warehouse. I was given a delivery window from 1-4pm, which was acceptable, and I had to make arrangements to take the afternoon off work to be there, as well as the following afternoon off for installation. The driver showed up before noon, and was gruff and rude on the phone because I wasn't there. He wasn't willing to wait for me to get there, and I had to call Coast Appliances back to reschedule. I was only able to speak to a receptionist who explained that I should have been told to be available the full day. (She was very pleasant, fortunately.) I don't recommend Coast Appliances. We saved a couple hundred dollars (maybe) by shopping here, but it wasn't worth it. First, the delivery and installation was a huge fiasco. In the end the machines were not installed level. Now, the washer isn't working properly and when I contacted Coast Appliances, they told me I have to deal with the manufacture. Came into look a fridges today and was met at the door by a tiny Asian man (that I didn't get the name of). He was quite rude, to the point and had no personality what's so ever... They only had ONE option for a 30" fridge!? What a waste of time and space. Do NOT recommend. read more

I bought my house on July 24 it was a brand new home from Mattamy builder. They brought refrigerator, but the front door has a damage on it, The company changed the door, unfortunately they took all components inside of the refrigerator, even top of the freezer door was damaged too. Coast appliances refuses to replace this fridge for me. we are almost 1 year warranty but they do not want to change it,I would not recommend or ever use them again. read more

They under promised and over delivered on delivery times, we received our product a month early. Chris Ristak was very responsive and helpful, a 10/10 to deal with. This store is by far the Worst experience I had!!!! Do not waste your time going here! Your better off going to Handy appliances which is a 5-10 min drive will save you the cost and time and not to mention the great service they offer rather than this horrible experience I had! John was so bad!!! he is a liar and only Carter's to Asiana! This entire store is 95 percent assians who only give there own the time of day! I found better deals same appliances but 400 less than we bought with John, so I called him told him and asked if we can do price match! He yelled at me and harrased me about what store am I at and yelling saying I spent time with you and asking numerous times what store you at and hung up on the phone and called back 5 min later saying sure np we can do it Talking sweet as pie this time, shortly after we saw same stuff handys who was great we decided to go there since John said price match is approved . He then sits with us 15 min & then said we will get price match refund difference once delivery arrival, all I asked was a SIMPLE question and it was so you Mind sending an email saying we will get difference back?! he then got up started SHOUTING and POINTING her out! Get out !!!! While assis manager was behind him. I had even calmly said what did I do? I just asked for an email . He was so shady!!!! so assistant manager came over dealt with situation but was so quite , nice to us didn't ONCE apologize! she was quietly on the phone asking if price match can be made. We then said no we do not feel comfortable purchasing here! Again she did not convince us of apologize cause this so cold price match was never approved to begin with!' which means he was going to have appliance delivered and not give money back!!!! the store was also everytime I come in talking in there language, so beyond unprofessiona!!!! my contractor builder said do not go there most ppl have bad experience, we still wanted to check it out! John is prob over 70 years old and working and biggest temper, during our purchase he was got a call and someone was complaining and he was yelling at them over the phone and telling them go to lawyer then. Don't know what that conversation was about but he is horrible and lies . He lied to us about delivery and also started bashing other companies stores we went to. Please I encourage you, do not go to JOHN or to this store! I even asked the assistant manager is this behaviour ok with you? we are customers! She had nothing to say she was so non professional didng take care of situation, she was covering for John like she was scared of him! We left the store so upset and even 2 weeks later I decided to post this because I was so upset the way we got treated! Never in my life has someone told me to get out and my mom was beyond upset! not one person apologized they wanted us out cause JOHN made a scene! Assistant manager just probably went on with her day cause body language and actions spoke for itself ! She didn't care she lost a customer who was buying multiple appliances for 2 houses!
