This is a review of a highly-anticipated ( by us anyway ) product that BB carries : the Sonos Ray . Being a huge and I mean HUGE fan of Sonos we're absolutely ecstatic when they announced the release of their latest soundbar , so much so we preordered it weeks before the drop just so we can have it at launch ! Soon after we have it set up and running in the bedroom excitement quickly turns to disappointment . Dealbreakers include a strangely small soundstage , stereo only ( ! ) and a serious lack of bass . I know i know it's their most compact and affordable i.e. entry-level soundbar but simply put it just doesn't even come close to the performance of their other products . In fact even the Sonos One sounds better than this so-called " budget " model . But thanks to BB's no fuss in-store return policy at least we don't have to worry about shipping it back or anything . To be at Best Buy is just another reason to be at Future Shop (http://www.yelp.com/biz/future-shop-richmond-2), as they're almost the same except BB has a can-do attitude with all of their employees. How FS remains in business after failing miserably in the states is beyond me. If there is a lesser evil, let it be this Best Buy, located along the Landsdowne strip (http://www.yelp.com/biz/lansdowne-centre-richmond) of shops. Like many other Best Buys I've seen, the place is clean, there are only a handful of certain brands (I'm sure by design no less) for every item, and on some evenings almost look like there is more staff than actual customers. But when there are deals to be had, the people are always in and it's probably no coincidence they have so many "weekend sales." WIth so many mom-n-pop stores that sell random electronics, Best Buy might not always be the cheapest or the best option, but it's pretty darn convenient when at Lansdowne. There is plenty of parking and the customer service is going to be on par with most other stores, consider some type of in-store sale before committing any time in the store. read more

Especially after Future Shop was closed, it made me feel not to come here. This Best Buy is pretty empty. All I see are employee and not that many shoppers. As well there is an NCIX and MEMORIX nearby. Having more option makes best buy less attractive. Especially the product options for example in computers there are not that many options. I spent a good 15 minutes looking for someone to help me with finding an item, which go figure they didn't know where it was so they needed to find someone else. 10 minutes later I am then informed that they are all out of stock. So there goes around 25 mi So I go to the check out and decide I will wait for the item in stock and not get 1 of the 4 items I had. I told the guy I do not want it anymore since I will wait and while I am getting my wallet he rings it in and puts it on the cart behind him. Me not noticing, looks at the price and he tells me its the 3 items. I asked him to do the math and the 4 items were on there. He grabbed the item from the cart and removed it. So what I am trying to say is if you are looking for someone, good luck and always check to see what items are on you bill! read more

Best Buy store is the biggest electronics store in Vancouver! They sell TVs, computers, major appliances and etc. If you're not a computer geek, it has a great selection of tablets. You also can get some deals when it on sales. I find their appliances model a bit outdated when it on sales. read more

Went shopping at a different store in Lansdowne Mall and walked through Best Buy carrying our purchases to return to our car in the parking lot (without making a purchase at Best Buy). At the exit, the greeter asked to see my receipt for the item, which we purchased at a store unrelated to Best Buy. I politely declined as there was no requirement for me to produce it. The greeter aggressively got in my face and blocked my path to the exit, and broadcast on his radio that I was trying to leave with unpaid merchandise. Not wanting to escalate the situation, I showed him the receipt from the other store and he backed off. The "receipt" was not even a cash register tape receipt. The mom and pop store we shopped at used a laptop as a point of sale system, and it was connected to a laser printer like the ones a consumer would own in their home. The "receipt" was just a generic invoice printed on letter-sized printer paper. My partner and I were both stressed out by the encounter and we just wanted to get out of there, so I didn't bother filing a complaint at the time. I didn't comprehend the severity of the situation until I reflected upon it later and realized that blocking a person's egress in a forcible manner could be considered a detention, even though the employee never made physical contact with me. I'm not some crazy Karen looking to make a scene over technicalities, or pick a fight over "MaH rIgHtS". But this really bothered me because I'm not sure what the greeter would have done if I did not have a receipt, or continued to refuse to present it. A lot of people throw their receipts away before they even get home as they rightfully don't expect to be forced to present them to random strangers working at stores they are lawfully passing through. As a tenant in a mall, Best Buy should expect that there is a large likelihood that a guest may enter while in possession of merchandise purchased from another store. Many of the products carried by Best Buy are sold by other retailers in the same mall, such as video games, electronics, appliances, and computers. Store staff should be trained to handle these situations effectively without unfairly accusing innocent visitors of theft. read more

Just recently bought my new Mac Air here, and they know their stuff as good as the Apple! Was comparison shopping for quite some time, compared to the Oakridge close by. What it came down to was cost of the extended warranty, and what it covered; the Best Buy version covered a bit more, for less the cost. I would highly recommend this lady named Kael (pronounced 'cale'), she even advised me to buy last year's model over the current one, as she said most people wouldn't notice the slight increase in speed -- and not worth the extra $300. Brute honesty! Plus, I've always liked coming here since it's close to Future Shop too, and the rest of the Lansdowne Mall. Not that it's great or anything, but nothing around the Best Buy in Burnaby, and the Cambie one, well, just the big box stores like Canadian Tire, Save on Foods, etc. read more

Best Buy don't do miracles, but let's just say they did that one day I had a very, very bad day, they made my week. My laptop pretty much died on me, and so I went searching for a new one. I tried all the stores (Future Shop, NCIX, Apple) and was super frustrated. The customer service at Best Buy were awesome. They were not snobby, they were not aggressively pushing you to buy, and they seem genuinely concern about your needs. They spent time on helping me choose the right laptop, and when I mean they spent time on helping me, I mean 3 hours. Not kidding. Then, that day, I lost my receipt (I did say it was a bad day). I went back the next day, asking them to give me another receipt as well as allowing me to purchase a printer at a sale (but this was only valid if I bought the computer at the same time). Two customer service spent their time searching through all the records etc. and two hours later, I had my receipt and my printer. They were great. Oh, did I mention the price of electronics wasn't bad too :) ps. The only thing I would suggest is to get a rewards card, it's free and pays off in the end. read more

Are you kidding me? The Richmond Best Buy is the third of their stores I have visited in the past year. I am convinced they take their customer service training from the same place the airlines use. I asked a group of employees standing around looking at their phones for some help with headphones and one lady turned and walked away. I went back to the headphones and there she was. From that point on I felt like a second or third class citizen. My questions were answered in mono-syllables and nothing was offered by way of suggestions. She was to be the last of my visits to this box box store as I was more than just disappointed by her attitude. Probably the number one reason I come to Lansdowne, to waste time if I am around the area, and just rummage through the store. The old Safeway location, I remember way back when (I am dating myself here?), I just find them better than the other business they own (Future Shop). This location seems to puzzle me though, as most locations are able to do a price match right at the till, as they are able to log in online from their own terminal, yet this one sent me to customer service (Hello, I am price matching with you close brother 'Futureshop', I did this a few nights ago at your other location 'Cambie', I know your capable of doing it!). A bit frazzled from this, I went to customer service, and lined up. I was the second person in the line, as I was watching a woman, and the customer service person go back and forth on an issue. As this was going on, somehow my Taurus nature was getting impatient, as I was able to zip off a few 'twitter' lines about my life on this mundane day. One person at customer service, and now the line is 9 deep, and still without taking notice and getting someone on another till to help with this customer service issue building in forms of a line-up? It just seemed really odd, knowing that this was a Saturday, and also allowing things to go this far in terms of waiting. I eventually got to point they added someone, and I had my price matching, but when I left after finally doing my deed, the line-up was longer. Not very attentive, and I have had points where I have asked the workers here to look for something for me, and they would magically disappear, and reappear 30 minutes later. I will give you credit, as the better electronic vendor in the whole of Richmond, as I have bought some bigger things at this location due to having it in stock, and being convenient. read more

This Best Buy is particularly refreshing for the sole reason of its vicinity to Futureshop. Despite the fact of being essentially the same, the close proximity to each other makes BB much friendlier to deal with having been staffed with non-commission employees. You don't have to deal with half the idiots that you do just over on the opposite corner of the mall and when you need help they're much easier to get help from. No snobbery: "sorry that's not my department (i don't make commission on it so piss of)" The large parking lot and easy access from the Canada Line stop all make this an easy to shop at location for both those with or without cars. read more

I'll always buy my electronics from Best Buy. No other place even comes close to their customer service. Want to know why? Unlike every other store in Canada that sells electronics (Tiger electronics, The Source, Mike's Computer Shop, Costco, Wal Mart, Staples, Newegg.com, Amazon), Best Buy is the ONLY one that allows returns within 14 days of purchase. At every other place, once you leave the store, you're stuck with the item. Even if you don't like it or it didn't come as advertised, you're stuck with it. This is especially unfair when the item you purchased wasn't available in stores for you to try out BEFORE you purchase it. (Sadly, most stores in Canada don't have more than two or three computers in their brick-and-mortar stores, and when they do, they're usually unplugged). Best Buy on the other hand, makes returns a breeze. I was looking for a laptop with a particular kind of keyboard and had to return two laptops before I found one I liked. The Best Buy staff at this location made the whole process incredibly easy, which I appreciated tremendously. Computers are expensive and purchasing one from Best Buy gives me peace of mind. I don't usually keep returning items needlessly. But in case I'm not happy with a product for whatever reason, it's always nice to have the option. read more

A couple things here: 1. Bought a screen protector with unlimited replacement warranty (expensive), it kept cracking up to 5 times. They replaced free every time until the last time i went there they asked me $10 install. I was angry and left. 2. Just bought a new laptop, now its having issues after less than a month but its a quick fix. Now when you call best buy it wont let you talk to anyone because of covid, so I cannot call geek squad to ask them how to fix it over the phone so I had to drive all the way to best buy because they dont take phone calls now. Not the greatest service. I called to see if they had an item in stock for a birthday gift that day, and the girl took my name and number and said she would check and call me back. I waited for awhile and decided to just drive there since I was already in Richmond. I get there and my item is not in stock. I end up buying the next model up and the sales guy quickly rang me up at his station. They're on commission no doubt. I ask him for the restrooms and he tells me by the orange wall but says I have to walk to the front desk in the other direction first to get the security alarm removed from my purchased item. I said I have the receipt and it's pretty urgent and asked if there's a quicker way for me to go the washroom. He said unfortunately no and I could see he was eager to get to his next customer i.e. Commission He got his commission and was done with customer service. I order a bundled product with three items within the bundle. I received an email confirming that the bundle is ready for pick up from this store. Went in to the store within 2 hours and they said one item is missing and they don't know how long it will take for the missing item to arrive. Why would they confirm the order that it is ready for pick up? The sad part is one of the sale guy first come and talk to me and then sneak out and never come back. Came here to look at microwaves with my husband. There were three sales associates chatting away by the cashier/pick-up counter while my husband and I stood there for a while wondering which microwave to get and no one even bothered to offer any help or ask if we had any questions about the appliance. After finally picking one out, I had to get this guy Puneet's attention and ask if we can just grab a boxed microwave and bring it to their counter to ring it for us. The guy just nonchalantly told us "yeah, just bring it over here" without even offering any assistance. Way to treat your customers. A little customer service etiquette helps. read more

I couldn't find the controller so I decided to ask if they could find it. So I went up to Johnny, he had a friendly attitude for greeting but he has no product knowledge or may have been too lazy to check the back. He replied me "they don't have Xbox one controller for PC as they are still developing it, we only have it for Xbox 360." I left after that as I had already wasted too much time searching for a sales and it was obvious that he had no product knowledge. This is by far one of the worst Best Buy I have ever been to! I use to go to BB versus FS because they had customer service without acting all salesy since they don't get commission! After I realized how much of a customer service experience you get at future shop in comparison to this best buy! Whenever I went to Landsdowne in need of FS/BB.... ALWAYS would just go to Future Shop, but today that wasn't the case. I didn't have that option anymore with the two companies consolidating into one. I had to go to the best buy to experience it's terrible service! I asked for help, didn't get the assistant that I needed to find the products I needed!! Especially the fact that they put accessories everywhere... You can literally find one on different parts of the store. Not only were the workers there not helpful, but didn't seem like they know their own store! When I got to the cashier, there was one girl cashier there who looked like she had no clue or lost in her own world fiddling around with the one customer... 10 minutes later I am still standing there and she is still fiddling to the point that it looked like that customer had enough and didn't even buy the product in the end! While I was waiting in line for 10 minutes watching this girl fiddle around, there were other workers just watching around, they didn't bother coming to open a second till and just kept customers there waiting in line. To the point when I was paying, cashier was very unprofessional, and couldn't even bag properly. Terrible terrible customer experience at this best buy! I much rather drive an extra 10 minutes down the road to go to the best buy on Ontario street in South Van. In fact I did pay a visit to that best buy right after and boy ... I tried using one of my rewards certificates for a purchase, unfortunately, they're scanners can't scan or read a digital version (from my phone). They require a hard copy print out. Disclaimer - This review is specifically for the Cambie location's Mobile department - End of Disclaimer Horrible customer service! All I wanted to do was return a phone that I had literally just bought and it took 2 days before it was all said and done. The time wasn't the issue though. I'm young and if I wasn't dealing with bad service I'd probably just be watching Survivor or some other show involving deception. Anyway, time aside, I felt completely unsupported in any way by this sales team. They were overtly rude, exuding an attitude of annoyance that they even had to deal with me. I don't really care if they like helping me, but I do expect them to help me. This entire experience was nothing but a reminder that when you have a sales team who's incentive is commission and you're not actually buying anything from them they're not going to help you in any way, shape or form. read more

Today's 4 star review is for a different department - the Geek Squad. One or two months ago, the Geek Squad did an excellent job adding in another HDD drive into my laptop. I was told it might take 2-3 days, but the technician finished it within an hour-and-a-half. It took me this long to write a review, because I wanted to see if any issues would crop up after 1 month of the drive being installed. So far, there have been no issues so I can write this positive review. I usually delay writing reviews on electronics, because they may work within the first week, and then suddenly break or die later on. I always proceed with caution and patience when it comes to electronics, since they can be rather unpredictable. Great work to the Geek Squad Technician, I wish I knew his name so I could write it on here, but I wasn't physically there when the laptop was delivered to their department. They increased my 250MB laptop to a 1 Terrabyte laptop in just under 2 hours. read more

I am writing my experience that Best Buy's / Geek Squad customer service has let me and my family down with their unprofessional uncaring attitude. I had reported on June 19th afternoon with Geek Squad that I had a dead fridge under my extended warranty It's been over 4 weeks now that I have reported my dead LG fridge with Best Buy/ Geek Squad and I had called their customer service few times, sent an email but all gone to deaf ears I had neither received a call back or a courtesy email reply for days. July 3rd I called Best Buy head office to seek help and spoke to one of their reps and I explained my experience thus far and expressed my frustration ,she empathized with my situation and took my cell and assured me that she will call me back to let me know what's happening but I met again with the same result as before, with no response from her either. July 4th finally I did have an LG tech guy come and change the compressor but without success. July 5th LG tech person called me to check if the fridge is working and I informed him that it was not. He then said he will submit his report and LG will send a RA# to my warranty company. Can you imagine the frustration of being without a fridge for over 4 weeks, especially in summer time! Every time we spoke with GeekSquad customer service they would say that should LG not do anything for 60 days then we will replace your fridge !! How rediculous is that to have to wait 60 days to replace your fridge and not have the ability to refrigerate your groceries for a family of 4!! We don't really know what the hold up was or why they kept going back and forth between themselves but I ended up wasting a lot of money on food spoilage plus our family eating out mostly as there was no way to keep my stuff!! Horrible experience and would not recommend anyone to buy from BestBuy especially warranty because you buy it for ease and peace of mind not the hassle we have been put through!! read more

Terrible customer service these days. I have always enjoyed visiting Best Buy in the past, but sadly it's going down FAST. Customer Service and some policies are ridiculous. I spent close to $1000 over the holidays at Best Buy. I had one item un-opened and not wanted by one of my kids. This is a $250.00 item that we have no use for... but since their holiday return policy is January 6... less than two weeks from Christmas (ridiculous) ... I am apparently outside of the return window. Calling their head office customer service is like talking to a wall.... difficult to hear and converse with. They also have zero clout or willingness to assist in some situations. I would be happy to have an in-store credit to apply to a future purchase... but I will instead think twice about shopping there in the future. read more

Best Buy. The mother of Futureshop. Talk about giving consumers choice. This Best buy is roughly 200m south of a Futureshop, both of which are connected to Lansdowne Mall. BB has stiff competition here in richmond (ncix and memory express to name a few). If youre looking for common branded stuff I would def check those two places first. BBs price match policy is a hit or miss. Often you may get a, "sorry we dont have that competitor on our list of 'official competitors'..." Best thing about BB. The rewards card. Make sure u sign up for one. Simple system, dont even need the card with you. Just your phone number. 2% return rate. Each time u hit $5 they will email you a coupon. Plus, you can still use your regular points/reward collecting credit card on top of that. read more

This is what happened to me at Best Buy store at Landsdowne Mall. I went down to the store to pick up a new phone connection (SIM card). This lady at the phone connection section, who seemed genuinely eager to help, suggested I opt for a virgin mobile sim and insisted that its the best mobile connection because you can make up to 100 international calls and these calls were important to me since I'm from abroad. It seemed like a good deal and I agreed. The Virgin mobile lady (lets call her that now) asked for the SIN number (huge red flag) which I gave her(Naive IK but I was a new comer just a day old then) After all was said and done, I go home only to find that I cannot make any international calls plus anyone who calls me I receive it as a No Caller ID (I trust me I have checked my phone settings a million times). The worst happened a few days later when I started getting scam calls over and over and over again. I went back to the store to complain about it and that virgin mobile lady saw us in the store and ran off, like literally!! When I discussed the matter with one of their associates, they told me they could give me a new connection but retracting my virgin sim would affect my credit score. Do not use the Geek Squad, here is why: Today our Sony TV was delivered along with our sono playbar (we bought all the other sonos system already). The Geek Squad was hired to do our installation but they are the worst services you can pay for. For $200 they could not even figure out how to install the sonos system to the TV and to the rest of the system. They were on the phone half the time they were here asking the Sonos Rep how to connect it. All they did was mount the TV on the wall. They didn't even TRY to plug in the sound bar and said we had to pay extra. They literally took out the play bar out of the box and just left it. They ended up ripping off all the wires from the amp that was already connected to the other speakers and didn't bother telling us or putting the wires back in place. While mounting the TV on the wall they asked for a power cord and I gave them one, they said it was too large and so I asked them if I can quickly just pick one up and I'll back in 10 mins, they said no, they had to go to the next appointment and next time I pay for another geek squad to come in they can plug in the power cord behind the TV. This is the worst service ever. They were not even done installing the wall mount. They said they couldn't connect the sound system to the TV and told me I did not have a connect:amp only a connect. I pulled out the box of the connect amp from the garage and told them I had the amp because they didn't believe me. Nothing was connected except the TV on the wall. This was the most useless service and the TV was not even straight. I had to ask them twice before they left to level it. The other Geek Squad Guy even had the nerve to say because the TV was larger expect it not to be straight all the time. In the end they told us to get another receiver and another amp so it would be easier to install. Also they told us to buy the Harmony remote. What a joke. They know nothing about their products at all. We had to reconnect all the wires to the amp after they left after noticing the speakers were not working and saw all the wires ripped off. read more

A gentleman named Felix took the time to try and find it for me on the shelves and when he couldn't, jumped online to ensure they had it in stock. Went into the back and although it took him a while to source, made sure I left with what I came in looking for. Really appreciated the customer service especially since it was a cheap item. I felt nauseous walking into the Best Buy. The over lite florescent lights, the grey carpets and the amounts of blue. It seemed so corporate and impersonal it's no wonder that people don't feel good shopping here. There is no shopping atmosphere. Finding any assistance is like finding an Easter egg in the dirt.
