This is my husband's favorite breakfast place when we're in town. I wish he'd stop making me come here but I love him so once a year, when we're in MQT, we stop at this small breakfast spot. In nice terms, it's rustic. But it's also passed its time. The chairs are torn up, fixed with tape. The decoration is dated at best. It's a vibe we don't get much in the city so be ready for an experience, my friends. The food is good-No complaints. Except the corn beef hash does seem to be the canned kind that looks like cat food and not the actual meat kind. That may be the staple or way up here, I'm not sure. Marquette doesn't have many restaurants with a classic breakfast, and this is exactly what I was looking for. They were able to accommodate a large group. This gave classic "dinner/restaurant" vibes. The menu has a good variety of breakfast options. The waitress was very alert and didn't miss anyone's requests. She recommended the Cudighi and the cinnamon bread French toast. The Cudighi had a lot of flavor and was seasoned well. The meat was a little tough but the flavor made up for texture. The hash browns were very crispy but not hard, and the potato was still soft under all the crunch. Best hash browns I've had in a long time. The cinnamon French toast had so much flavor I didn't even need syrup. The blueberry pancakes were very basic with not much flavor. Overall I really enjoyed my breakfast. read more

Years ago, Mqt locals used to call this place "Roachlight" due to the grungy appearance. Around five years ago, they renovated the interior and exterior; made new menus; and added more midwestern hospitality service. This place isn't just another mom and pop restaurant. It's a reoccurring pit stop for all those traveling to and living in Marquette, Mi! There is nothing I didn't like about Coachlight. The service is fast. The place is very clean. The menu has numerous options. Nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. Here, it's all comfort and casual. My go-to order is the Two Plate Lumberjack: Two warm pancakes with butter and syrup, plenty of crispy hashbrowns, two eggs (I get them over medium), choice of toast, and choice of meat (bacon!). All plates here are so incredibly cheap: $6-$10, normally. My husband order the biscuits and gravy with a black tea. Our total was $18. This place isn't fancy. It's not the best brunch place in the world. But, it's cheap, fast, friendly, and hits the spot with good food. read more

They close at 2pm, so they are pretty much only good for breakfast. The decor is pretty vintage (which is fine, since it's a small town). They have the best cinnamon french toast, it's almost a hidden gem on the menu - it's on there, but it's not easy to notice. Downside? If you go when all the other hungover college kids go, you'll wait a while for service - they don't seem to be able to handle large groups well. But if you manage to get there before 10am, you can usually get in and out in a timely fashion. read more

This place is amazing. Don't believe the bad reviews. We ordered half of eggs benedict, farmer's omelet and a slice of french toast. I regretted ordering half of eggs benedict because the hollandaise sauce was the best I have ever had. Husband devoured the omelet - he knows his omelets and claimed it was the best he has had yet. The french toast slice melted in my mouth. The service was quick (although place was somewhat empty due to Covid). We LOVED the food and will likely come back tomorrow. Best Breakfast in Marquette! I love great breakfasts and today had one of the best I've ever enjoyed. Fresh lake perch, eggs and hash browns. Live in California and get to Michigan's UP often and this outshines any San Francisco breakfast Ive ever had. It has been a couple of years since my last visit and the place looks totally new. I got the initial feeling that this place was definitely a hole in the wall. We were seated promptly; All the staff were friendly, I will say that. A lot of things about the Coachlight seemed cheap. The water cups were seemingly decades old plastic jobs with bite marks from thousands of previous customers, the menus were laminated card stock that needed an update that would improve them to 21st century standards, and the decor, oh the decor. I want to know what someone was thinking when they decorated this building. Not that I am an interior designer, but even I noticed that nothing seems to work together. The bathrooms. This could be a paragraph by itself. They were scary. Someone once told me that you could assess the cleanliness of an establishment by the cleanliness of their bathrooms. Well I hope that certainly isn't the case or I have no idea what they might have used to cook my food. I guess I should talk about my food and actual experience a bit too. I ordered the lumberjack meal for about ten bucks. It was good, everything was exactly what I would have expected. People in my group though seemed to all agree that the biscuits were way too dry. The service, also good. The waitress was pleasant and conversational. To recap, the food and service were pretty decent, but there was just something about the place that I wasn't a fan of. Again, The coffee really bothers me, it's so easy make good coffee. You can literally see through the entire pot. My only complaint is that more often times than not, I have a bad service experience. Servers are sometimes rude, often times forgetful, and unwilling to help you get exactly what you want. Came here with my cousins during our cross country trip because it was the only restaurant open when we arrived in town. We got here at the an hour or so after it opened in the morning and was surprised at how many people were already there. The interior is cozy and small. Definitely had the diner feel to it and it's probably best not to go with a group larger than 4. We were seated immediately to the last open table which was great for us because we were hungry and not in the mood to wait (even though we wouldn't have had much of a choice since nothing else was opened this early in the morning). Service was very friendly but a little slow. Food was ok at best. I had their specialty breakfast meal and found it to be a little on the salty side. Their corned beef was good though. My cousin ordered that and I tried some. I kind of regret not getting the corned beef since that was definitely better than their specialty sausage breakfast meal. As I stated earlier, service was very friendly. We chatted up with the waitresses there asking about the area (since we were going to cliff dive later that day) and the locals chipped in on the conversation which felt real nice.
