I peeked into Fireworks Gallery minutes after deplaning in Seattle. Not because I'm an idiot who…read moreshops for souvenirs on the first day of a trip, but because I'm an idiot who forgot to put shoes on her two-year-old before leaving for the airport back home. I kind of thought you could buy most essentials at the airport, but it turns out children's shoes are not a typical travel need, at least when they aren't being worn by traveling children. Fireworks did carry children's slippers, which caught my eye as I passed, as well as a nice assortment of unique, crafty toys and gifts. Unfortunately, my five-year-old followed me into the store and zeroed in on a tiny, colorful finger puppet in the shape of a parrot. He asked me to buy it for him, and I declined, telling him we weren't getting a souvenir before we even left the airport. He was upset by this to the point of tears, but I managed to get us out of there. We had a wonderful time in Seattle, and to his credit, the five-year-old behaved well the whole trip (and the two-year-old got new shoes). When I saw Fireworks Gallery again by our departure gate, I decided at the last possible second to stop in and get him the parrot. It was one of several Folkmanis finger puppets in a wire basket. I picked it up along with a bunny rabbit and went to check out. There was a short line at the register--I guess this shop gets decent traffic--and by the time I was up, my husband was calling to tell me we were boarding. This is how I paid $36.36 for two finger puppets that cost $10 apiece online. Fireworks got me good, but my boys do love their little puppets, which are soft and cute and well made. The wares here are definitely nicer and less generic than at your average airport store. It might cost you, though, if you wander in there with your kids.

I mean EVERYTHING but the kitchen sink is in this joint!…read more Expensive jewelry, stationary, candy, books for the kiddo's, charcuterie boards in the shape of Washington, knick-knacks just perfect for souvenirs to bring home and to carry on board. Service was a plenty here and I was there after 9:30pm on a Wednesday evening. Respectfully Reviewed

So when you hear of a store Affordable Luxuries, what do you think they sell?…read more Purses? Jewelry? Watches? Sunglasses? Heck, anything at an outlet mall? Seattle Seahawks gear, duh! I'm not sure where the owners of Affordable Luxuries started, but their business plan, at some point, very intelligently took sharp turn toward gear for Seattle's great sports passion. Seahawks-emblazoned ball caps, stocking caps, sweaters, hoodies, socks, mugs, shot glasses, jackets, scarves and the rest. You'll find all the Hawks colors, the college navy, the action green, and the wolf grey. To be fair, they STILL have what would be classically defined as "affordable luxuries": Purses, jewelry, sunglasses, and earrings. You'll find 'em all along the back walls, the less affordable (or maybe more steal-able) luxuries are glass-encased. There's also a smattering of other stuff, from best-sellers, Mariners gear, and, stunningly, a bit of New England Patriots jackets. WTF! Still, Affordable Luxuries is a must-stop for the traveling Seahawks fan. Go Hawks!

This is the PERFECT spot for very last minute Seahawks and Mariners items, before you head off…read moresomewhere, on a plane! It's located right next to the Stonehouse Bar and Grill, just to the right of security. Everything is super pricey, but what else would you expect at the airport. Their selection for sportswear is pretty large, for an airport store and their staff are really great about helping you find the right sizes too.

Affordable Luxuries - I guess they think of Elton John's autobiography as a luxury. I can't argue with that.

I LOVE this boutique as well as the owner Robin. When I moved to the Burien area September of 2017…read moreI fell in love with the town of Burien but was missing the convenience of a local clothing store. I did a bit more digging and soon discovered Howard and Marge. Color me happy! A clothing boutique for women of all ages with hip, sexy but not trashy, fun, colorful and unique apparel, not to mention the most fun trucker caps (I've got three so far) and other fun accessories for yourself or for friends. I literally stocked my closet with jeans, tops and sweaters from Howard and Marge and found a couple super cool, retro style shirts for my man. Since I'm not a mall shopper and I prefer to shop and support my local businesses I will probably be wearing Howard and Marge apparel exclusively now.

No. No. No. I do not…read moreknow why some of these small businesses in Burien are totally sabotaging themselves!! This one clearly is for the following reasons: 1. Bring your dog to work - do NOT YELL at me (the customer) for opening the door in fear that your dog will escape. You screamed at me and made no apologies for it, even though my mother was clearly holding YOUR DOG back from getting outside. Here is an idea, put a long lead on your dog. 2. How about talking to your customers and not just your friends. A quick hello and asking what we were looking for would have been nice. Sorry we did not go to school with you or that we do not have kids that go to school with yours, but we are very faithful Burien shoppers who deserve some attention. 3. Learn to use an inside voice. The volume at which the owner spoke was completely distracting. 4. Put price tags on things. There were some super cute knee high socks that I kept gravitating to, but contained no price tag nor was there any signage about the product. People do not like having to ask for the price of things. Be kind and label them. We have no intention of returning. Feeling sad and frustrated. A side note: I am not giving the one star rating because of this experience. I have been in this store several times before this and every time the owner and/or person working behind the counter seems completely consumed with something/someone else.
