We really liked the card selection here but we were primarily into the candle selection and really liked the selection they had there and the various scents. Paper Luxe is great for a little gift and to celebrate cheerful occasions and certainly is a place to keep in mind since the only thing similar I have come across was in Seattle. But perhaps there are closer spots too and I just haven't come across them yet.

This area does not have a whole lot of parking so if you go here when the island is busy you may need to park your car a bit farther up the road to get out to check out the store. Almost all of it is "golden age of travel" or airplane/airline themed so if you love travel or love that era you will love browsing this store. They also have some cute Seatle merch that is much better than what you find at souvenir shops. I wish I had more room in my bag to bring home some truly unique items but I only ended up with some small things which I really loved.

We initially went in to try and find the viral dumplings (iykyk) and unfortunately they were nowhere to be found but it still gave us the chance to look around. They really do have everything here! Lots of fun snacks, household items, decor, toys, games, and even clothing which I was surprised about. This will definitely be my go to spot to hit up for future stocking stuffers and small gifts for sure. We didn't buy anything this go around because nothing really jumped out at me, but I'm glad that I finally got the chance to check it out and see what it's all about. They have housewares, decor, toys, candy, snacks, electronics, and other neat things. There seems to be a lot more $7 and $10 items, but they also have certain things cheaper than I've seen elsewhere, such as the $3 boba drinks that I've seen in Safeway selling for $5+. Overall I really enjoyed going to this store! I just have to be more mindful of my budget because I definitely went over it lol. I love the attitudes and proud disposition of one of the employees named Cole. What I love most is that he has a gift shop type of attitude. He's aware that more than likely a customer is picking up something special for a special someone and he above and beyond to help you. I often observe employees and how they interact with other customers while shopping and he's a total sweetheart. He takes pleasure and care to make sure your family member or friend receives not only an awesome gift but that the presentation is just right. I love when he asked if I want my gift wrapped up and stated that "Presentation is Everything"...I love it... also as a side note, they actually supply stamps and would mail postcards out for you!!! Jude is another employee that is very attentive and helpful. You feel so invited when you walk into this shop. Just when I thought it was too late for me to send a postcard out to myself, seeing that I'm headed out Cole and Jude made it happen!!!!

This used to be one of my favorite local stores. The business was built on supporting small,…read moreminority owned, local businesses that gave back. Since the new ownership, the goods in the store can be found so many places. Nothing feels unique and the store now feels soulless. Almost all of the original staff have left under the new ownership. The website still claims that this is its focus, but in reality, very few of their items fit this description. I miss the old Alair, with soul, personality, warmth, kindness, and community at its core. It's a shame that under new ownership the business lost all of that. Update: Alair has petitioned for my review to be taken down from Yelp because they didn't like that I made a negative review-I have reached out to Yelp petitioning that I didn't violate any terms.

Decided to go into the store while waiting for The Crab Pot. The employee with super short great…read morehair is extremely rude. My wife told my daughter we weren't going to buy anything over there (referring to one section of the store). The employee walked up to my 4 year old daughter and snatched the bucket hat out of her hand as she was just standing there looking around and said "I don't want it to get dirty." Now knowing that we were planning to buy it. My wife then said come on it's time to go then the employee in a loud voice said "ohhhhh, I offended them." Loud enough for everyone to turn around in the store and look. Then my wife said you don't have to be rude about it and snatch stuff out of my daughters hands. The lady would giggling and saying I wasn't being rude. Snatching an item out of a kids hands without saying anything to her is not the way to react to a customer just standing there holding something. Then to say that so loud about being offended is ridiculous. Lady is such a joke. Wish I would've seen her grab that from my daughters hand. Interesting store with basic bottom end stuff but the crappy employee made it a shit experience. Would give it a no star.

YOU MUST COME IN to this souvenir shop, it's probably my new favorite souvenir stop in the city after having visited just once. There are so many great Washington related things. Plenty of Bigfoot gifts, a mushroom themed section, unique postcards, Washington made souvenirs and lots of souvenirs with symbols of the tribes in the Washington area.
