After doing some exploring on the Isle of Skye on Sunday 14 July 2019, I was thinking about lunch and dinner options. There are a number of restaurants in Portree and food available in the general area. However, it was prime tourist season and the lines could be long. So, I decided to see if I could find a grocery store to get some late lunch/early dinner items.
The parking lot of this Co-op on the periphery of Portree is large and easy to access. The store was well laid out with items easy to find. As I was looking over items, I noticed a half rotisserie chicken in the hot foods section. No, I thought. I did not travel from the west coast of the United States of America to Scotland to eat half a rotisseries chicken. After looking around some more, I went with it. I got a few other items as well. Check out was straightforward and I did not have payment issues.
Unsure of where to dispose of the remains of the rotisserie chicken once I ate it, I noticed a trash receptacle out front of the building. I thought eating in my rental car in the parking lot and disposing of my trash at the receptacle sounded like a good alternative to leaving the chicken remains in my hotel room. I was not the only person who had the same eating in the parking lot idea. The chicken was tender, tasty, and, very thankfully, not messy. The other items I got were good as well. read more
