I had gone to catch a ferry towards Fort William and found I had confused the schedule. So, I decided to circle back through Kyle on my way east and south. The Co-op was easy to spot and the parking lot easy to maneuver in and out of. The store was well stocked and had an abundance of snack items. I went with two flavours/preparations of Kings 100% British & Irish Beef (British BBQ jerky and Rib Eye Flavour Biltong) as well as Scottish butter toffee (Buchanan's). All three items were delicious and well packaged for the road. Prices were fair and workers kind.

The staff ( called Elaine) looked at me and told me to step off cuz of COVID (lol), I asked her if they are having a conversation about complaining "having too many Chinese people around", Elaine (stared at me) said: "that's a conversation between me and them." Thank you Elaine for encouraging such racist behaviour on behalf of the national company Co-op and I still haven't received an apology from her or the manager. 3rd year in the UK, first time having this sort of experience, hopefully this won't happen in the future again as Britain is getting far more international for this.

The staff throughout the center were attentive and very helpful. The cafe offered a good selection of coffee/cappuccino, soups and sandwiches, and dessert/snacks. Specials and other lunch fare was available. Seating was bright and airy, with great views out the large picture windows. The general store has staples, fresh breads, fruits, vegetables, and local specialty products. The Post Office was a surprising plus- a great help for travelers. The meeting space is open and inviting- a great addition to the local community.

So, I decided to see if I could find a grocery store to get some late lunch/early dinner items. The parking lot of this Co-op on the periphery of Portree is large and easy to access. The store was well laid out with items easy to find. As I was looking over items, I noticed a half rotisserie chicken in the hot foods section. No, I thought. I did not travel from the west coast of the United States of America to Scotland to eat half a rotisseries chicken. After looking around some more, I went with it. I got a few other items as well. Check out was straightforward and I did not have payment issues. Unsure of where to dispose of the remains of the rotisserie chicken once I ate it, I noticed a trash receptacle out front of the building. I thought eating in my rental car in the parking lot and disposing of my trash at the receptacle sounded like a good alternative to leaving the chicken remains in my hotel room. I was not the only person who had the same eating in the parking lot idea. The chicken was tender, tasty, and, very thankfully, not messy. The other items I got were good as well.

The fresh raw oysters were nice and of good quality. The cooked oysters were decent, maybe easier for oyster-beginners since the toppings cover the sea/oyster flavour. They clock your first and last visit in a day and if it is over the time limit you will get an expensive bill in the mail. There are other grocery stores in town. I mean really, charging your customers to use your store multiple times in a day?
