I love going here for plane spotting. It is the perfect place to sit around and chill. I like how you look down at the planes, and that gives you better views. I come here all the time!

Just wow. As an LA native there's just so many places to see and go. This is a very underrated spot if you are in the neighborhood. If it over seeds a lot of south side of LAX. Nice little gem near El Segundo. Plenty of benches to sit.

I think this park is one of the best kept secrets at least in this part of LA county; I was just looking for parks in the LAX area on Yelp and this one easily caught my eye lol. This park is pretty small but has a direct view of a huge chunk of the tarmac of LAX's Tom Bradley International Terminal. Saw some cool-looking planes taxiing for departure/upon arrival. For instance, it was my first time seeing the pretty-blue Air Tahiti Nui plane and other planes that I saw include those for Japan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Scandinavian Airlines. Just a handful of people were at the park when I visited on a weekend early afternoon. There were photographers here with professional cameras trying to take high-quality close-up shots of the planes. The park is at the edge of a residential area and parking is on the street. Wasn't difficult to find parking at all. If you're fascinated by all of the different planes whenever you're inside an airport especially international planes, this park is a must-visit even just for a quick peek!

Love this place. My favorite place to hangout in between meetings or at lunchtime. I normally purchase a sandwich from a nearby shop and enjoy my food on the bench while looking at airplanes take off. One time I came with my 300mm lens and it was enough to capture airplanes in motion. Every time I fear a familiar jet engines sound, I get up from the bench and take a few pictures. Park along the street. I can sit here all day watching airplanes go by.

If you love to watch jets take off and taxi down the runway then this is the place for you. The city has many seats and tables available to enjoy the view from this narrow sidewalk park. Since we are still in the C19 pandemic the viewers were wearing masks but there weren't that many flights going out right now. The only downside are the people that throw trash into the bushes when there is clearly plenty of trashcans around.

Since I was young I was obsessed with airplanes. I always had a dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot. My favorite type of plan is a 747. My dad would take me to this park to play chess and watch planes take off. Whenever I am sad I go there now and think about traveling the world and I take a guess where each plane is going to. Clutter's Park/Imperial Hill is a spot slightly above LAX where your family can watch the planes land and take off on the airport's south runways. The park has a few telescopes, but you're better off bringing your own binoculars and a camera with a good zoom lens! If you like lights in the sky then come here at night.

One of the best place for airplane spotting and my old spotting ground. I really miss this place a lot. Also great place to clear your mind. Just bring your In-n-Out burger combo and sit back and relax watch the plane fly by. Here are some photos I took, with my Canon 7D EOS with Tamrac Lens.

This park is a great place to watch airplanes at LAX. There are a couple of tables with chairs and benches. From here the view of the airport is the two runways on the south side of the airport. You'll see mostly smaller aircraft. There is street parking and trash cans. If you like to watch planes this is a good place to do it from.

Four chess tables for visitors to use.

This park is primarily used for watching aircraft at LAX and playing chess. There are four cement and metal chess tables with plastic black and red embedded chessboards situated along the sidewalk. Three tables have partial shade from nearby trees and one is in full sun.

Disappointed... I thought this was a park but technically no it's not.. it's more of a look out of airplane runway.....

**(Updated below) I had no idea what this little watch area/park was called. Actually, I didn't know it was a park, it's a little great spot to park, walk to and sit down and watch the planes take off. Also a couple of tiny tables to either picnic/lunch, or quality laptop time. I can't wait to check this out at night. Great view of LAX! In saying that, it's just too small of a statement. Benches throughout the little viewing area and great place for those who like to watch and also who like to smoke their good quality stogies I'm not a smoker, but I am all for sharing and for health's sake I find my spot away from it all. I wonder where the name Clutter's Park comes from? Hmmmmm........ (to be continued) I just found out about the name - about the man who is named after it, Jim Clutter. (I did see the reviews & photos of plaque, I still wanted to know more, even tried searching through Wiki, but no luck). I did find out more information through a forum/blog called Aviation Photographers of Southern California. Apparently there was an article written about him in the Beach Reporter, Community website of Beach cities. The link given by the person who posted their comment was no longer available, probably because it was dated from 2009. In any case, we all know he was a former El Segundo city councilman responsible for the "Unsafe Area for Jets" sign, but there are more details. Also from that blog, it appeared up until that year, there was no official name, other than referenced as the hill or lookout point, among other nicknames. From what I read in another article from LA times dated June 6, 1991 (yes, thank God for archives), he resigned early in his term due to his illness and passed away there short after. I've attached the link below, which gives a little bit more info. http://articles.latimes.com/1991-06-06/local/me-228_1_el-segundo-councilman Always interesting to find out more about the history. Now go spot those planes!!!

Contrary to its name, Clutter's Park is not technically a park. It's actually a lookout at the intersection of Imperial Hwy and Sheldon Street in El Segundo which overlooks the "Southern" runways of LAX (Los Angeles International Airport). It is named after El Segundo councilman Jim Clutter for his "hard work in maintaining the small town atmosphere of the LAX adjacent community" and there is a small plaque dedicated to him. If you are an aficionado of planes and like to "plane watch" this is probably one of the best spots in the continental United States. The "park" is actually a small fenced area on top of a bluff in El Segundo and it offers incredible views of LAX. There are several concrete benches and tables with "built in" checker/chess boards painted on the tables. There are also a few swiveling binocular/telescopes for close up viewing. Day or night, this lookout always has several people sitting, standing, watching, photographing and videoing inbound and outbound flights. Many of the plane watchers have professional camera equipment with lenses that rival the networks. But there are also many laypeople like myself who simply like to enjoy the awesome SoCal weather while they take in the diversity of aircraft that LAX has to offer. I have personally spent many days and evenings at this location as I daydreamed that I was on one of those planes, headed to an exotic location such as Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji or Thailand. If you like planes or just like being outdoors to enjoy the weather, take a ride here and enjoy the scenery. Bring a drink or even a lunch and stay a while. I highly recommend it.
