Took a Mini into Dan's because of a misfire. Dan wanted to replace all coils and valve cover gasket. When the car got home I heard an odd rattle, which I isolated to a spark plug that was loose. I pulled the plug and found it had no electrode. I replaced the spark plug and the car ran great, no need to replace all the coils and the other crap they conjured on the quote. Either they checked the plugs, put an obviously bad plug back in, didn't tighten it, and wrote a bad faith quote or they didn't bother to pull the plugs when the car came in missing. They also broke a cool latching mechanism during the "inspection". Several months later my 2017 Mustang had a check engine light. I took it on and Dan called saying he was afraid the car would cost way more than I would want to pay to fix because the plug for the MAF sensor was broken and there were zip ties on the wiring harness. I took the car home and took a look, the connector was indeed broke and zip tied in place by the shop that had just replaced the grill shutters. As it turns out, nothing else in the harness was damaged and the fix is a ~$40 three wire pigtail from Ford and about an hour labor. I am not sure what this shop does well, but apparently a bad spark plug or a three wire connector are beyond their capability. read more

I took my chevy 1500 pickup there because coolant was leaking. Said it was my water pump and upper/lower hoses. They wanted $2200 to replace that and flush the lines. That is highway robery I told them no way and took my truck to another repair that did the same work for $990. You would have to be desperate to pay that kind of money for a 2-3 hour job. I've changed out a lot of water pumps and hoses and thermostats and it's not difficult. I don't mind paying someone to do work for me but I don't expect to be taken advantage of! read more

Dan was recommended to me by a friend, I had taken my 2015 Ford Mustang to another shop due to the check engine light coming on, I was told that the intake manifold was shot and the part (before labor and tax) was $760.00 and was on a 2 week back order. I decided to pull the car from that shop and get another opinion...that's how I found Dan's Automotive, he took his time, ran a complete diagnostic... turned out that the car just needed a software update and spark plugs. Nice guys, but unfortunately this is the second time they have neglected to call me and provide me with a quote for the work to be performed. First time was my fault for not asking how much putting a new starter in my car was going to cost. They told me my starter was damaged and I told them to go ahead and fix it. Never got the quote for the work and that was on me. Second time, was when I recently had the car towed in after overheating on the highway. Temperature gauge never got to over 3/4 and nowhere near red line. They told me it was a heater hose that split that caused some other damage and they recommended replacing thermostat and other parts. Quote was $700 to fix the car. I agreed and when I came to pick up the car after they told me everything was good to go, I noticed upon getting the engine to normal operating temperature that the temperature gauge barely moved above the cold notch after driving the car for 40 minutes. Car ran fine but I couldn't trust the gauge. I called the shop while I was still driving and they told me the mechanic tried to bleed it and he noticed it was acting funny. This is where I have a problem with the service. Why did they let me drive the car away if they knew something was still wrong? They told me to keep driving it thru the weekend and if the temperature gauge continued to show cold after normal use then to bring it back in. The gauge never showed normal operating temperature so I brought it back in on a Monday. Never once did I get a phone call on Monday or Tuesday informing me that something else was wrong that they did not catch during their first diagnostic check and never once did they call me to inform me that it would cost more money. I never even got a phone call that the car was ready on Tuesday so I called them and they told me the car was all set to go. I took my second Lyft to pick up the car assuming I would just get the keys and be on my way. Unfortunately they handed me a $171 bill for a new temperature sensor, another diagnostic, and labor. I was obviously confused as to why and where this bill came from and they proceeded to inform me they could replace the new sensor with the old one if I wanted the old unreliable temperature gauge back. Not sure if that was a serious attempt at compensation for their lack of communication and them not originally fixing the entire problem I originally brought the car in for. I'm fairly sure most cars need a reliable engine temperature gauge to insure confidence and safety regarding the vehicle. All I got was an apology. But I still owed them $171 for their apology. I don't usually write reviews. I know everyone makes mistakes but to simply say sorry is generally insufficient when I never agreed to the service or the cost. I probably wouldn't have written this review if they would have simply apologized for not informing me of the charge and at least taken off the second diagnostic charge or compensated me in someway. Paid them over $7,000.00 for a repair and truck still never worked Ended up taking to a new mechanic and all the work Dan claimed was done was actually not and the stuff they did replace was all used Buyer beware on this place Oil changes and basic service is ok but anything else I would stay clear I recently received a response from a lady(working for Dans) saying thank you for only giving half the story and claiming that I asked for used parts that cost me $7k on the engine only, keep in mind only a small part of engine work when I could have it completely rebuilt or $8k from a better known company Again stay clear of this place unless you only need oil change and you don't have a Diesel engine Completely lie to your face and take your money with no problems at all Buyer be ware !!! read more

Look elsewhere.I took my Ford diesel in for an oil leak and difficulty starting. $2800 later I picked my truck up and oil was still leaking. When I asked why I still had an oil leak, Dan and his mechanic got in an argument over it.I took it to a Ford specialist and they said they had done the work incorrectly, and the repair would have blown in a few hundred miles.I had asked for a partial refund to help me get it repaired correctly but was refused. I had told them what the other mechanics had found and that they were willing to talk to him about it.Dan just said that he didn't trust their opinion, and wouldn't speak to them, so I had to pay again to get it fixed right. read more

My husband took his 2005 H2 Hummer in to Dan as 50% of the ac was cold and 50% was blowing HOT. They took 4 weeks to fix the issues ( charged more than the estimate) and when he picked up the vehicle the entire electronic dash did not work. Steve took the vehicle to Munday Chevy and the only problem was dielectric grease was not installed on the connections per the manual. We have used Dans Automotive for 20 years plus but when Dan's wife told "us to never come back" she was fired by her husband for running off employee's and customers. Dan apologized to us and said "you are always welcome here" but its just too much drama with his wife. We now go around the corner to his former employee whom quit because of the WIFE as well. In speaking to the techs there Dan fires his wife usually every few weeks but hires her back after a few days....just DRAMA CITY...Of the last 4 items fixed they have re-broken with 30 days and had to be addressed again..ie- roof leaks, brake job and alignment, etc..Munday Chevy is less per hour and fix's it right the 1st time. read more
