The market & deli across the street didn't have any non-junk food to feed our hungry kids for dinner so we wandered over to McGrew's. We didn't know we were walking in 5 minutes before closing, and would have completely understood if we'd been turned away. But the lone waitress, Vanessa, welcomed us in with a smile. Vanessa, whose personality sparkled as much as her glittery makeup, was an absolute delight and SO funny. She's the kind of small town waitress you read about in the great American novel. The one you remember years after the meal is over. The food was delicious and hand-delivered to our table by the chef and was devoured by us all. Next time we're passing through Oregon, we'll make it a point to eat here again. McGrew's is a real diamond in the rough.

My husband got the dinner and I helped him with his soup and salad. I got the steak sandwich with steak fries. If you love steak fries, this is the place to go!! Also you can't beat the candlelit table ambiance and even Andie's mints with your check. Looking forward to making this a regular stop anytime we are in the neighborhood.

I had the pork chop which had the perfect compliment of the apple compote and my wife had the stuffed chicken breast. Bot were awesome. The staff makes you feel like family from the minute you arrive until the time that you leave. Whether a romantic evening or getting together with friends. The Lucky Pirate is the place to be.

Okay, not "bad" and not "great."…read more Started with the chowder which was too smooth and the flour was overpowering. I was hoping for "great" in a coastal town, We ordered steamers as an appetizer and it came out with our dinner, not ideal. Good flavor but super slimy. That's either age or not cleaned well but either way they weren't great. I ordered the Yellowtail and it was great. I had the sweet potatoes on the side and they were the best thing any of us had. The boy ordered pasta which was kind of forgettable and my wife ordered the Gnocchi, which she said was good. (It was good enough she wouldn't share). :) The place is kind of a dive, you walk through some random slot machines and a little bar to get to the actual dining room which is decorated straight out of the 70's. That's less of a deal since you don't eat ambiance, Next time I'll try the pork chop (they were out) as it looks delicious.

I got a beer and the fish open face sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fries were nothing special. I think the sandwich would be great with the option to change the cheese type. I would love to try it with swiss cheese. The sandwich was good and tasted fresh very little seasoning so you really got to taste the fish and it was yummy. Nice big bathroom that was clean. View was not really anything good and the windows were dirty from the salt air.

Upon arriving the parking lot everything smelled pretty good, which was great. We checked in and waited over 30 minutes to be seated, busy night no reservation totally understandable. Once seated we sat there for almost another 40 minutes before a waitress would even look our way. I understand things get busy but walking past a table that has been waiting without even an acknowledgment, offer for a drink, or even a comment of "we'll be right with you" was definitely disappointing. Like I mentioned earlier, I usually love supporting small restaurants. And the food smelled good so we stayed waiting. We finally order our food, by then another half hour has passed before we get our food, which was overall underwhelming. I ordered a filet mignon which honestly seemed more like a sirloin. The crust and cook on it was good, although the flavor was lacking. I enjoyed their vegetables and mash potatoes far more than the steak itself. My partner ordered a prime rib whose only saving grace was the au jus it was served with. Overall, we felt very disappointed with the service. The food was okay but I personally wouldn't return considering the price point.

This area currently has very, very few -- almost no -- great restaurants to choose from but this one of the few. Michael and I just came with a friend for lunch and it was fabulous as always. Debbie and Michael both have a sweet tooth. They went for two of the exquisite concoction of Jen de la Creme, the pasty chef. Our conversation quickly degenerated into moans!!! Debbie and I both had the meatloaf, which is not to be missed. Michael had the cheeseburger which was a work of art. Angie, our server, was fantastic. We love this place! Absolutely LOVE it.

We had the Pork osso bucco which was delicious. very flavorful and came with a side of mashed potatoes and little gourmet carrots. it was finished in a light sauce that paired well with the tenderness of the pork. We also had the steelhead which was surrounded by a cream sauce filled with leeks and mushrooms. the seafood was atop two wedges of polenta, a very nice add that allowed you to soak up the sauce. We did not have reservations as it was late on a Thursday night. But, we had to wait close to 30 minutes to be seated. The hostess was nice and seated us with our dog on the patio. the place was still full at 7:30 at night. they have a musical group playing in the background which was also additive to the ambiance. The one negative was our service. Not very personable, we sat for another 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. No water, no explanation for the delay and no apologies for the long wait. Service improved after the place started to die down, but not a great start to the meal especially after waiting so long at the front.
