Firstly, I am not a huge donut connoisseur. Nonetheless, I've lived near this place & past by this place & was intrigued enough by the reviews on Yelp to give it a try. I went approx. 1/2 hour before closing time on a Saturday & they still had a decent selection of donuts. I chose a fruit cronut which they made fresh for me, a chocolate donut with chocolate sprinkles, & a small Gatorade: $6.34 for these 3 items including a 5% cash discount. I am not up to date on the price of donuts so I suppose this is average but the chocolate donut & Gatorade were small for the price in my opinion. Price: Average (?) Selection: Decent (for being near closing time) Decor: Normal donut shop Taste: Average to mediocre. The cronut was so cute so 5/5 on presentation but the taste was average (3/5). The croissant donut part was a bit burnt in parts. The whole cronut thing is basically smother the inner cream of a filled donut onto 2 wonky slightly-burnt croissant donut things, add fresh strawberries, & finish it off with some sugary red sauce with a touch of powdered sugar. I needed a steak knife to cut through & eat it. The chocolate donut was average & tasted like any other donut I could get anywhere. Now the positive part: customer service. DON'T go here! The worst customer service and price gouging donut shop in Clovis. They sold me a $4.00 donut! YEP, $4.00 for one donut. After I paid I asked them why my order was so expensive. They then told me about the overpriced donut and SMILED...! Yep, sneaky guy knew he got me !!! When I told him I didn't want a $4.00 donut, he then told me "SORRY NO RETURNS" and walked away! Fresh donuts!!! ...and cronuts! ...and coffee! We got here during the morning rush but it didn't take too long at all. Got FOUR types of cronuts and one each of the kids cereal donuts, a Bavarian and a blueberry filled, and the classics like the bear claw, apple fritter, crueller, and OG glaze. I guess I'm a donut fiend! They cut their filled donuts in half to smother it with filling which I never considered, but is a wonderful idea. No more biting into a jelly donut with no jelly. The coffee situation on the other hand was a bit of a mess, but only because it was the morning rush. They brewed a pot of fresh coffee, which was smooth and got it out before the other carafe emptied. But as soon as it got there, it was gone (as with the creamer). The only reason this place didn't get 5 stars was because they didn't have time to clean up. Coffee straws, empty creamer containers and trash cluttered the coffee area. Purchased two dozens of mochi donuts and I have to say the texture of the donuts are delicious. It has the chewiness that mochi donut should have and my only suggestion is to find a more smooth and thinner layer of coating for some of the flavors. Some of the flavors they used a white chocolate wafer and it hardens and does not compliment the texture of the donuts. The Cronuts makes this donut store as famous as a landmark in Clovis, what's cronut? oh its basically croissant and donuts married together and they had kids; so why the hype? because no other donut stores in Fresno sells them; yet be warned my sweet tooth friends, these donuts are so rare that even unicorns are easier to be found- come as early at 6am, but if you prefer to lolygag in bed, just give them a call as you wake up so that they could reserve some for you, its no joke they run out real quick, it normally gone my 8/9am. The reason these cronuts sells out so quick is because no other donut stores in Fresno sells cronuts and also these things are actually hard to make, apparently it takes 3 hours to make these. The only other place you can get cronuts is at two exclusive coffee house: Kuppa Joy in Clovis and Jitter Coffee House in Sanger. Anyways each of the cronuts is $3.75 each and they are big, like hamburger big, so although pricey the are worth every cent. There is also plenty of parking around clovis donuts, best to have this to go in my opinion, although they do have a cute casual seating area. Flavors offered includes: Strawberry filled, Nutella, Glazed, Sugar and Ham & Cheese, but these flavors changes every day, so call them ahead to see what the have. So is it really that good? , well to be honest yes it was really good, but you have to be a sweet tooth to appreciate it. The experience of eating a cronut is very different from eating a traditional doughnut. At Clovis Donuts, the cronuts are cut in half and filled with custard, flavored whip cream, fresh blueberries or strawberries. For one thing, the cream is evenly distributed among the dozens of pasty layers, so you never get hit with a giant burst of filing. The extra layers also mean more oil-dough contact, so it's a more oily pastry similar to a fritter--a deep-fried dessert lover's dream. The establishment is really clean and neat and ideal to sit down, although I rather ravenously glob the donuts at the privacy of my own home, with fresh latte. These 5 stars are STRICTLY for their cronuts. I've had cronuts from Sacramento and Los Angeles (both reputable high reviewed establishments), and these are easily hands down the best I've had. Previous cronut experiences made me wonder what the hell all the hype was about, but i feel like i finally understand with Clovis Donuts Cronuts. They are flakey, soft, buttery, tall and not overly translucent/crispy from the fry like everywhere else. I bought a few and they were all wonderful, I especially enjoyed the bacon maple cronut and crumb cronut. They also have a powdered cronut, glazed with custard and strawberry, and a nutella strawberry. All excellent. The custards aren't too sweet and tastes freshly made. I believe these cronuts tend to run out quickly so call ahead to have them hold them for you if you're really hoping to eat one but are'nt able to get there early enough (they run out as early as 8am sometimes) . Stopped by for the Mochi donuts that are fairly new to their menu and I was not disappointed. SO GOOD. I got cookies and crème, cinnamon sugar, strawberry, fruity pebbles, and Cookie Monster. They tasted just like Mochi donuts you would find in the Bay Area or LA! My favorite was the cookies and crème and the fruity pebbles, quite possibly a 10/10. They are still a bit unknown outside of Clovis, and in my opinion, are just 1 or 2 more crazy donuts away from becoming a travel destination. Locally, I think everyone needs to come here at least once for sure. My first cronut experience was about a year ago, and at the time, I thought it was the best thing ever. Second time around, the feeling isn't the same. I think it was cause this one had custard, the first time it had Nutella I believe. While everyone was elated about Krispy Kreme's return, I preferred the hole in the wall donut shops owned by Khmere people. The reason is these small business owners put a lot of love into the donuts they make. It is not a donut warehouse and that is what I appreciate. I follow Ooh De Lolli on Instagram and they posted up pictures of donuts from Clovis Donuts. I had never been there before and it was only a couple of miles from where I live. The reason for one less star is we went a little late the first day I found out about Clovis donuts, but they did not have any of their special donuts so we went early the next day. My husband and I each got a cronut, a chocolate one for me and a strawberry one for him as well as a blueberry and a s'mores one. I came in one Thursday before an office meeting and was able to get 5 dozen donuts no problem! I was very happy with that since most places aren't as accommodating. The only thing I did not like was they do not take phone orders. My large order could have potentially been disastrous if they were out or low on stock. Very early this morning I picked up two dozen donuts as a sweet treat for my coworkers. Jealous? You should be because the donuts came from Clovis Donuts! These donuts would make Homer Simpson stop in his tracks and drool. I walked in and the shop smelled amazing! The first thing I spotted were the special donuts on the top shelf. There were fresh custard filled puff pastry with fruit, fun cereal topped donuts and even a bacon maple bar, YUM! I was so happy the shop was open so early, it was still dark outside and just after 6am when I stopped in. The location is very convenient, and parking is plentiful. The service is incredible. The woman working the counter wished me a good day several times. My order was simple, just a mix of 2 dozen, and it was a good mix. It seems like I had one of almost everything! After seeing many yelpers in town rave about this place, I finally had a chance to go in. It was around 8:30 AM, and some of the trays were already empty. When purchasing, make sure you are a way of the different prices if you select other donuts from each casing. There is one casing in your far left that is labeled regular. If you want their regular pricing for a dozen donuts, you better stay in this column. If you start looking and adding donuts from the casing to the right, thats when your prices will go up due to different pricing. Beware. I am a big fan of old fashion donuts especially if they are made with buttermilk. I bought an assortment, but not their cornuts. They were out. The old fashion donuts were as good as the ones that I usually buy at best boy donuts in Fresno. However, their maple/chocolate bars are better than best boy. They employee in there was helpful.
